I use this technique in procreate and its still amazing. i do the last color adjustments after i overlay or hardlight the color on to the layer. but good job Whyt!
Anyone got any tips for the greyscale shading? I was a traditional illustrator but try to make the leap from pencil shading to tablet shading but I can get the same smooth blended finish its just blotchy, any tips?
Hey Whyt Manga, I love your art videos but I’ve actually been struggling more with the writing part, getting my ideas for my future manga down on paper is kinda hard for me so I was wondering if you could make a video of how you plan out the writing for your characters and story. Do you make character sheets where you write their info or something like that? What about the story, do you just write it as a normal story and then “translate” it into the actual manga? Idk man I need help lol

Well, there's a few more "secrets" to this process which I do feel like you missed(or I did), or you're not aware of it.
Photoshop it's pretty autistic with the greys.Therefore, we pretty much have to get rid of the greys in our greyscale(via a grandientmap) then the color layer on top does the actual trick.You don't just leave it on color blend mode and that's all.Double click the color layer>Layer style>Blending options>Underlying Layer, where you hold alt and play with the sliders to achieve a much better and natural look.
Ofc, mine it's just a short retarded summary.But this is pretty much what I've learned over the years, also there's a video of ARtgerm about this subject also.

I think this technique, then combining it with adjustment and further rendering after applying color, is really useful! It also helps when you're just learning values and contrast, especially if you're not just leaving it the way it is after creating the gradient maps.

Heyyy can you maybe do a vid on like faces but like shapes for example deku, bakugo, todoroki. They all have different face shapes or maybe how you draw your faces like you don’t use much anatomy.
