The MFA and MS in Visualization in the College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts at Texas A&M University are uniquely interdisciplinary graduate programs that merge art and science, technical applications, and creativity.
The Master of Science in Visualization integrates art and technology to prepare students to become creative and pragmatic leaders. The program fosters the development of focused expertise and a broad foundation of knowledge in the artistic, scientific, cognitive, and technical aspects of the discipline. Students select an area of focus and complete a research thesis or capstone project. Areas of emphasis include augmented and virtual reality, computer animation, computer graphics, data visualization, game design and development, virtual production, interactive design, and user experience design.
With a focus on technological applications and innovations, the Master of Fine Arts in Visualization bridges the gap between technical and artistic skills. Students have opportunities to become creative professionals equipped to problem-solve across teams on collaborative projects, such as the Summer Industry Courses, while producing a cohesive body of self-directed, original work. The interdisciplinary curriculum encourages the development of new technologies and creative applications. Areas of emphasis include, but are not limited to, augmented and virtual reality, computer animation, data visualization, interactive art, game design and development, user experience design, virtual production, visual storytelling, and visual effects.
Texas A&M provides access to cutting-edge production and fabrication facilities, a vast network of industry professionals and visiting artists, state-of-the-art production equipment and technology, cross-disciplinary collaboration opportunities, and an active, internationally recognized research and creative faculty.
Texas A&M is one of the largest public universities in the nation and one of the few to hold land, sea, and space-grant designations. It is also the main university of the Texas A&M University System and a member of the Association of American Universities. Located in College Station, Texas, it is about an hour-and-a-half from the art center of Houston, approximately two hours from Austin, and around three hours from the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan areas.
