This was so helpful!
Lmao the softer side if this guy😅😅😅
Just found your videos. Previously had a wheaten terrier. Great dog, submissive enough that training was a breeze. Loved him for 12 years. His successor is an Airedale terrier puppy who is now 5 mo old. VERY smart and sweet but more willful than my wheaten was. She has learned all her basics already but thought I might need some help with training a more assertive puppy. 6 week AKC puppy class ended up being a waste of time. She already knew what they were teaching and it was all treats and positivity. When I asked for help on specific problems, like avoiding a collar grab, they smiled and shrugged. So disappointing.
She’s getting bigger and has decided it’s okay to not do as I ask, even with a treat sometimes. Thanks for helping me understand I can’t expect perfection at this point and that I can be slightly firm with her if needed. She’s currently a velociraptor (fast with lots of teeth) and jumping and mouthing are an issue. I’m way more confident that we’ll get through it and she’ll be a great dog in the end with your methods. She really does want to please, I just need to train myself with your help to show her how great life can be when she follows me. Please never stop making these videos.
What should I do my 4 month old chow chow starts freaking out when I take him for a walk and other dogs bark at him or tries to approach every dog
Thank you for this puppy video 🙏🐕🐾
He is great with Pickles. She is so small and beautiful 😍.
Pickles, I ❤ u
What an easy puppo. My puppy was turning to bite the harness and then bite the leash. This pup is half asleep just going with it 😅
Before watching you we literally got our dog a harness to reinforce his pulling just cause we didnt want him choking himself.
How do people come up with these names??
She picked it up so fast! What a cutie!
I love your videos. I think it's important to know that harnesses are beneficial because when a dog pulls on a leash attached to a collar, it can cause extreme problems like collapsed trachea, which causes the dog to gag and struggle to breathe at times. (like excitement)
So are harnesses better for younger smaller dogs? Or are regular collars preferred?
Do you have a video about walking a puppy with an older dog? Very interested, love your content!
"You can't punish a behavior the dog doesn't know." Damn, I wish more people who try to train their own dogs knew that one! I've seen so, so many of them use punishment in an attempt to teach the behavior — they think that if a dog gets harshly corrected until they get it right, they'll get it right faster. Usually, all that happens is that the dog shuts down in fear and stops being able to learn at all until it stops.
The correcting helped on our Havashu (mix between a Bichon Havanese & Shih-Tzu). I know you say, that you dont like it too much on small dogs, but it worked wonders. She is now 1 years old and SO good on a leash. She isnt reactive on leash when there are other dogs, she only looks at other dogs, like she's curious. Your videos are truly a life saver! 😀
Would I still do this same thing with my 6 month old puppy and my 14 month old puppy? I am having a lot of pulling from both dogs. And they are barking at a lot of things. Bella my 14 month old will bark when there isn’t even anything there as soon as I take her outside and she barks at other people and dogs. My 6 month old pulls and barks at everything. Any tips would be great! Thanks!
Very useful though I think in my situation we need to let our little puppy age up a bit more
How can I do this if my puppy is deaf haha
I am getting a pull in the next couple of weeks, I am so grateful for all the information you give!
You say we can fix pulling later and we need to be mellow with these young dogs. Pickles is 4 months old. At what age is it appropriate to be "less mellow" and more "hard core" on fixing the pulling?
What do you think of a house line? Many trainers on Youtube recommend it, but my small pup likes keep chewing on it and every time it's like a fight when trying to take it out from her mouth…btw, great to see some videos of small breed training!
Puppy training series would be great! I would pay to see it.
Loved watching actual training in action. Loved the details… how much treat each time, what to do when they don’t really do what you asked. This was super valuable. Thank you!
My 11-week puppy stops to sniff and lick stuff every steps! 😅
not sure if you've already done one but a tour of your property would be cool as it relates to the dogs! it looks like at 4:13 the dogs are fenced off but can watch and see what's going on which they probably enjoy. thanks for all your content, we just got 2 puppies and i've been looking for a good youtube channel and this is it for sure
Our 11 week black lab (boing! boing! boing! 🤣😂🤣) has been here 2 weeks and is ready for some lessons. Wonderful, smart, energetic when not sleeping, brave etc. Sleeps thru the night in an indoor pen. Starting sit, down, stand, spins, off, off-leash come to heel position (then free to run again). Sits for meals and before doors, excellent recall to name, runs into both large and small crates (not locked in more than a minute yet), beginning retrieve and drop… veeerrrry food motivated. 😋 One very short leash lesson went well…tug, call, treat 👍Not on a walk yet. Potty on pads getting better, potty outside increasing. Labra-gator mouthing with shark teeth is insane…I'm wearing leather gloves while trying to inhibit it.
Great video
I've got a 3 month old American Terrier mix that we rescued. I've seen some videos of your dog correction training with Bosco and Prince and was highly impressed. Going to go through your videos to inform myself better on how to train my puppy. She's awesome and I've got some progress but I'm ignorant in puppy training. Her and my daughter have become best friends but she's in the teething stage so I'm cautious at this time. Ice cubes and frozen carrots seem to be helping.
Pickles is adorable!
I have watched your videos for the last year. I love the balanced methods. Got a Havanese recently. Today little Fabio, 6 months, discovered your method too with this video. He sat down and watched from putting the leash to the end. Very cute. I think you’re a hit.
Eye contact during a reward, that's a no?
This dog is so much like my Cockapoo with the wiggling and wanting a belly rub 😂
I have a 5 month old . He’s a big puller what type of collar would u recommend?
I have a 5month old papillon mix boy. He is very small and me and my family loves it when he jumps up on us. He is so small that it does not bother. Is this a mistake? I do want him well trained…. it is just him being happy to see us and showing affection, but I do wonder if it is healthy to allow it. Thanks in advance
I have a basset hound. She sniffs the whole walk, would your method still work on a basset. She stays on one side, she is getting better with the pulling (trying your method) but what about sniffing? she is 2 years old.
youre awesome man.
This is great, I'll have to re-watch it when the time comes to leash-train our future Beagle puppy, who will move in with us end of November. Watching your videos definitely helps with the puppy jitters,.
My 14 week old pom fights getting the harness on so much. Was hoping pickles might fight a little so I could see what you’d do
