No one’s really talking about the OG Steam Deck nowadays and, well, it’s easy to understand why — newer and more powerful …

Steam made 500 compromises and nailed the balance. And then they worked their butts off with updates and support.
I got sd lcd and i love it until now, still playing games with it, upgraded it to 1tb and installed windows, while waiting for sd2
Just returned the Ally. Grabbed one on sale for open box at $500 CAD. The screen is great, but that's about it. The problem with these beefed up devices is the horrible battery life. Valve and Nintendo seem to get it. You don't need a 1080p 120hz display because the compromise on battery isn't worth it. I found myself changing the resolution to 720p and 60hz, even on less demanding titles, in order to try and squueze more battery life but it was still a hog. Just playing Ori, I was dropping from 100% battery to below 50% within an hour..
I'm sure the Ally X helps with that, but it's $1000 CAD open box… Double the price of the Ally. That's ridiculous.
Windows really?? really? Wtf is wrong with you.
Was thinking of getting an OLED Deck but decided to stick it out and wait for SD2.
The Steam Deck also has better controls, not only having joysticks and buttons….but dual touchpads!
Just bought the og steamdeck a couple months ago. I'm not a hardcore gamer, i'm a dad with little free time so the og steamdeck was a good price for casual handheld gaming console. So far i have not felt the need for better performance at all, it plays every game in my library without a hitch. The microSD slot means space is not an issue, and as a long time steam user i like sticking with the steam platform. If steam created their own software brand i'd gladly jump over from windows.
just ordered an og 512gb steam deck cause I got it refurbed from valve for $386/shipped. not bad, even the regular rog ally is more expensive. I got an okay outdated gaming pc but this will be a great compliment.
lcd is fine for me cause i have a gaming pc and a ps5
"It doesn't have any unique selling feature at this time…"
Uh, yeah it does. You've been talking about it the entire time… It's stability. The way it just *works*… That's a HUGE selling feature.
Imagine if every two years we screamed for a new Xbox for PlayStation. The tech crowd can be so unreasonable at times
I feel the Rog Ally X has better specs and all the games i would play steam deck should have better specs for what it does
Scored the 512gb anti-glare LCD for $350 during a Steam sale.
OLED is obviously better, but for me, better screen & battery isn’t worth an extra $200. LCD deals are insane.
Getting this so I can take it to my bf's house and we play Eldern Ring together 🔥
Nice video 👌🏿
I was on the fence on what to buy for a handheld with my budget but when Steam reduced the 512gb LCD version to £291.75 it was an offer I couldn’t refuse. I’m really happy with it. Yes the Oled version looks better but the £187.25 difference in price to the Oled I’m glad I managed to get the LCD version.
Amazing quality content! I just ordered the 512gb LCD for $300 on sale.
Recently went on sale, for a very good price, act fast because it’s essentially a clearance, they are phasing out the 64 GB, and the 512 GB LCD versions, sold some of my cs skins and to pick up the 512 gb lcd.
i totally agree with you when you analysed how you play your games. I am planning on upgrading my ps4 to ps5 because it handles the AAA games better and i am also planning to get the steam deck lcd for the indie games, retro games etc. I like how you broke it down. nice one
I want to buy LCD, but people say oled is better. But now LCD 512 25% off, so i don't know
Surprisingly, even in some triple A games the SD does a decent job. I was shocked that I could run Resident Evil village at 30 FPS solid medium settings. 1080p. (On a monitor).
Can you still get the exklusive Keyboard and the carrying bag for the 512 LCD Modell?
