I have a 4yrs old cat that will not let anyone touch her. She will come and she know her name.. but let me catch her so I can give her a flea treatment..we have another cat ,her mother. She is very friendly.. she plays with her. I want to catch her a get her fix..
Can you please trap me in a cage into this beautiful view outside of window 🙁
Thank You Ryan 😍😊and Foster Mom
What are the dimensions of Lillith's cage? We're having a hard time finding a small cage that has doesnt get completely taken up with a litter pan, but is also tall enough for a hammock
Are they not lactose intolerant?
This is so helpful!
I have a black feral that I think is now ready to find a home…how is the best way to find a good new parent for her? She still has a ways to go as I got to her sometime after her 6-months of life, so so much wild in her, but she has made a lot of progress. Thank you.
That’s such a wonderful way to get kittens to homes rather than the shelter. We found a 8 week old kitten and it took us one week of feeding him outside before he climbed on our legs. He never hissed once; only ran. It’s been two weeks inside the room with us. And between those 3 weeks, we have spent endless hours giving the kitten to feel comfortable safe, used to the home and not hiding. It’s a lot more work and time than I would have e ever expected. But the result is a wonderful special kitten we love.
Caroline! Long time no see! This video came up on my display and I clicked on it without noticing the Channel, but as soon as I heard "Social Box" I remembered that the "Social Box" Concept was YOUR idea, and then I noticed it was YOUR Channel. I've had an eventful time with my cats… many of my older generation of cats died… so sad… but new kittens came in. But, yeah, I'm still subscribed. I hope you're doing well. God Bless.
I'd prefer less human talking and more cat sounds
Thank You for this it's just what we need…..so excited to get them comfortable.
Do you quarantine ahead of time in case of worms, etc?
Exorcism of Love is one hell of a bandname
This video would be more believable if they hadn't shown DIFFERENT kittens (note the eye color) in the shots.
Is it better to separate the shyer kittens from the litter to put them in the social box to get the comfortable?
With this kitten I recently rescued I tried everything and nothing was helping. Finally I had to just wrap him up in a blanket like a purrito and force love on him until he finally gave up fighting and realized he wasn't dying. Now he comes to me and purrs and wants to make biscuits.
Nose bread cat!
I don't like the so-called box! Catios are perfered!
I about to scream!! Our girl Alli-cat is still mean as Cujo!! I did try all of these ideas and NO taming her 😿😿
We just caught a kitten a couple days ago… They're rather spicy..
I've kept them in the restroom for about 24 hrs now, with food, water, plenty of comfy places to sleep, a toy, and a temp litter box.
I'm worried, because the kitty will freezes and shakes when I come into the room. I spend several hours a day in there already, as it's where my laptop is, so… I'll be spending several hours a day with it in there. (I say "it", because I've no idea what their gender is)
I hope these methods work for the new kitty we've acquired.
The reason we caught the kitty, is because during the day here, it's 110°+F, and it's just not safe for the kitty to be outside…
Genius
I’m using a similar technique to try to socialize an older kitten who was completely feral. I just got him today, right after his neuter, but he’s been in foster a couple of months. If I hadn’t taken him he would have ended up someone’s barn cat, which is better than what could have happened to him, but he’s just too beautiful to spend the rest of his life in a barn!
He came a long way in foster and does well with other cats and even dogs. He’s terrified of people, though, as he was completely feral and being chased by kids throwing rocks when he was rescued. Who could blame him for not trusting people?
He does love treats and catnip so I plan to use those to my advantage in the coming days. Right now he’s in a very large kennel with a blanket over it. It’s in a central location. He has a soft bed, food and water, and a small litter box. I sprinkled the catnip on his bed, in hopes that it might help to calm him, and left him a couple of catnip treats there as well.
My other animals have come in one by one to sniff around his kennel. They can’t see each other. Going to give him a day or so before I start lifting the blanket for short periods. He’s been through a lot in his short life. I don’t want to overwhelm him. Also, the others will need time to get accustomed to him. I’m in it for the long haul!
His name is Blaze. He’s a gorgeous flame point Siamese with beautiful blue eyes. Please say a prayer for us that he’s able to overcome his past!🙏🏻
I got to say this seems the best way I have yet seen someone make the cats more comfy and able to be handled. great job
How long does it take?? When should you give up? I have 6 kittens I just need some advise.
Personally I fkn hate cats but I have 3 feral cunts the mrs wont stop feeding. Even though I hate them I'm still feeding them while shes away for 3 weeks. Thought I should try and learn how to be friendly with them before I kick them over the fence. This is really testing my patience. You make it look so easy. All 3 of them are so different.
I have a cat that looks just like Lilith. She showed up on my deck a cold Halloween night a year and a half ago, shivering and wintering. I took her in immediately of course and the next morning the vet said she was about 5 weeks old. There had been a black feral cat I’d seen around every day but she disappeared and I think she had maybe been killed by a car. And I’m sure this was her kitten. The poor little thing was quite spooky at first and I did something I’d used with other kittens that had been dumped in my yard, I just took her into me lap and held her until she realized I wasn’t going to harm her. Then I took her into the bathroom and closed the door and just sat there picking her up, then putting her down for maybe 10 minutes. She got used to that pretty soon. I have two other cats who are only now getting used to her. Wish I’d seen this video before. Maybe I’d have done some things different. But my little black cat now sleeps on my bed every night and likes to be in the same room with me when I’m up and about. No kisses though, I guess that’s not her thing. ❤️
Cats are lactose intollerant.
You do a great job with the kitten.
I think you are so good in your presentation of the video as well.
Thank you
Mine will not come out and eat til the coast is clear.! Got her as a 4 -6 month old. By the time this one adapts, she will likely be a full grown cat no longer a kitten.😢
Great job!
I'm not an expert but…. aren't cats lactos intolerant…? Why cheese bro..? Please don't poison the poor thing……
This video melts my heart and gives me so much hope and more confidence in taming my kitty. It’s only been five full days that I took Niko home, but we’ve already made a lot of progress. She’s a jumpy little baby who spent the first day hiding and getting used to me (I don’t have a social box, but we spend the day in the same room and she found a stop where she sees everything and everyone). On day three, I got her to finally play with her toys and she had so much fun. Day four was when she accepted treats from my hand, and today I could pet her for a long while. She even closed her eyes and almost fell asleep. She still goes to a “safe spot” and watches when I enter the room, and I still get some hisses, but I give her all my patience and love. This is my very first time having a cat (and it was my childhood dream), but even if she’s still a scaredy cat, I know, the progress we’ve made is huge and it will be even better as time goes on. Thank you for all the videos you uploaded about taming a scared kitty! You truly helped us a lot. ❤️
I find this hilarious, because Lilith was also the name of a demon on the show supernatural
Lilith is such a pretty girl. Thank you for helping her find her inner snuggle bug!
cute cat
God bless you for all you do.
With this social box method, my boyfriend and I have rehabilitated a 4 month old stray kitten and he now has such a wonderful life. Thank you so much!
No fair using a Bombay to demo any special taming skills – Bombays may be little demons but at their core, they are the very best in terms of inherent temperament… i.e. they are amongst the easiest to "train" to the extent you can train a cat…. at least that's what I found with the five or six I've had in my life, including a couple of former ferals. Your Lilath is a real cutie pie.
My kitten isn't shy, but she loves to bite all the time. We've tried everything. She attacks fot no reason..
Is there a poopy spot in the social box?
Social box…sounds like such a needless word evasion, almost dystopian lulz x) lets call a cage a cage, or partial isolation basically. Prisoners should now live in social boxes and not cells x)
I have question, my kitten looks like yours same attitude 😅 how and when I should introduce my cat and dog and should I put her inside the social box ? At the shelter they didn’t told me she was very under socialized and hissy, I just find out that on the paper work the shelter send me online.
Love it
Wow. Amazing view out your patio.
I tamed two adult feral cats. They have gone from being monsters to beng pushy affection hogs. I have watched several videos about how to tame fearful cats, but yours is by far the best! Kindness and patience win every time. I like your idea of using a crate so expose the cat to new exeriences as well as using a harness and lead; I shall use both techniques if there is a next time. After having both cats neutered, and vaccinated and buying them an omlet catio for the garden, with a well insulated cat- house apparently, they are nolonger 'rescues,' and have chosen their permanent home! I did not have the heart to risk that as a bonded a pair, someone would separate them, or keep them outside, when they are used to, and expect their creature comforts.
Thank you for your advice. I recently trapped a 3 month old kitten living in our backyard. My husband thinks she was born under our gazebo deck because there was a large hole dugout at the back of the ground level deck and he said that a kitten could not have dug that. No sign of any other cats (we had been at cottage in summer), but she stayed within the confines of our fenced yard and only came out in evenings. She was looking pretty rickety so I began feeding her for about 3 weeks, and putting food in a live trap for 1 week. We trapped her just in time before freezing, as it snowed the next week. She has only hissed once, but she is very fearful. She is starting to come to me and play a bit, but she hides a lot. She seems to already know one of our dogs. I think they met in the yard. She is not at all afraid of her. But we live in the country and our dogs live outdoors in heated dog houses within kenneI enclosure, although they do often have free roam of the yard and come in the house, although they prefer it outdoors unless -20 or more. We will have to try the social box as she will not come out of the back porch room unless I carry her out and she runs back at first chance. I leave her indoor kennel open during the day. In the evenings I turn on a nightlight for her and turn off other lights. Although she comes out of her kennel, she will stay close to it. We have a pop up dollar store pet house that she often sits in or behind. When I put the nightlight on she will move to her kennel where her bed is and I close up the door because my husband doesnt want her running free during the night, assuming she would even do that because she is so scared. We bought a leash for her yesterday but have not tried it yet.
I wish I was this good with pets
