I wish everyone would learn this. Last week I met an overexcited screaming puppy and the owner let it run loose around the group annoying everyone to the point we said, we told you six times now to leash and control the dog. We think it's time that you do it. She said she couldn't get the dog. So I grapped the collar for her. She was overwhelmed and embarrassed, apologising. I wish she could have learned Ceasar's methods. The dog was clearly driving her nuts. And us.

I wish you were still carrying on. You have a special gift that needs to be shared. I wish I had known this when I had a dog. And what about people that encourage their dogs to be all excited when they meet you and it just makes them jump on you. Am I supposed to tell the people to calm down? People are worse than their dogs sometimes!
We just rescued a 3 month old chi / terrier mix. And had her 2 months everything we take her out she does nothing and comes in a does her business on the pads, also jumps on our rescue cat that is 10 months
Cesar do you normally rescue dogs? I ask because I see so many furbabies that are on the California Nevada Doberman rescue. So many are being euthanized. 😢😢😢😢😢

Useful. I meet a potential dog tomorrow and I am a bit nervous as the sanctuary are assessing me AND the dogs reactions to each other. I think the dog may pick up on my nervousness

Hi Cesar, I’m a big fan of yours for years ❤ Thank you for teaching me so many things (dog training and way beyond). I feel training dogs make me more aware of my own energy and mental state. I have two dogs, one I raised her from a puppy – she is a happy-go-lucky goofball 😂. My other dog is a semi-rescue and had extreme fears. He was literally petrified about everything when I first got him. He made big progress and now almost perfect with meeting new dogs, but he is still not okay with meeting strangers no matter how much I try desensitizing him. I wonder if it has to do with his genetics (he is healthy otherwise, checked by vet) and breed – shiba inu. I wish I can go to your DPC but I’m in Canada 😢. I hope to see your training fearful shibas someday if possible.

Can someone on here point me in the right direction. I have 3 rescue Cats and 1 rescue Dog. All was and is well with them. I had no problem gaining trust in a short amount of time. 2 weeks ago while visiting a friend of a friend I was asked if I wanted to see their 2 rescue dogs. What I saw horrified me. I took home a little Pug / Chihuahua mix. She's about 8 and currently in heat. We call her Lola. She has scars inside and out. I've scheduled her for spaying in a few weeks. We are working on potty training. While inside Lola is wearing a diaper. When she squats I take her outside. Lola hasn't tried to pee inside the house for over a week. However Lola is still trying to mark or spray personal items of everyone living in my house. This includes outside as well. Lola is peeing in the food dishes of my other pets. Whenever I catch her and try to correct this behavior she starts cowering, tail between her legs and I loose her trust. Lola thinks I'm going to hit her. It's so sad. When Lola lifts her leg to pee on a bowl I yell no and grab her and the bowl to separate and prevent the food from being peed on. Raising my voice while saying NO is natural. I can't seem to control it. I've never hit,spanked, or physically harmed any animal. Lola is afraid of me for about an hour after every incident. I need information on potty training a severely abused dog. I've accepted the fact that Lola my need to wear a diaper inside for the rest of her life. It's hard to catch her marking but when I do catch her I simply say no and take her outside to her potty areas of the yard. Currently I'm more worried about gaining Lola's trust that nobody is going to physically harm her then I am potty training. Can anyone recommend a website on training and abused dog?

Excellent, as usual. To me (as a European) it is always almost painful to see how people – especially Americans, I'm sorry friends – approach dogs with an over-excited state of mind and revert to a type of baby-talk. I grew up with loving, trained hunting dogs. Even as a kid I found this type of behaviour tather silly and disrespectful towards the animal.
