You're spot on with your review. I had high hopes for this game, but it was just a paint by the numbers horror game.
Great review, I actually had fun with this game, I avoided trailers to play this blind and honestly give it a 8.5/10. Lots of positives for new IP but also lots of improvements they can make hopefully in the sequel which I hope comes out.
7 out of 10 is usually considered a "good" score. Same score that IGN gave it. But you spoke about it as if its a 4 or 5 max. I have seen many not like this game but also many that did. So it totally is in the eye of the beholder it seems.

Dodge only works when your facing 1 enemy.
When you face 3 enemies the dodge mechanic fails badly.

I’m gonna hold off until the steam version gets patched really. So far the combat seems to be something that’s the biggest mixed bag about the game really.
Great review i feel the same way you do. I like the game, the sequel has great potential if it get made. Here are some extra thoughts i have.
The gameplay is good but too easy. The dodge is broken, no skill required. The telekinesis is great, use it to instakill all enemies and melee the last one. The game also gives you to much stuff that you basically can sell every healthpacks and ammo and still get full inventory after 5 minutes.
The level design is the worst part of this game, constant crawling into vents and shimmying through tight spaces after every enemy encounter. Basically no outdoor exploration either when the game is so beautiful.
The stealth chapter sucks ass, you can't speedrun that part if you are not playing on easy mode it's basically impossible. And final boss is annoying but i know why they did it like that, it's because you can dodge all the bosses attacks. Next game should add a stamina mode so you can't spam dodge i think, or make it like RE3.
