My dog is a 6 year old pit mix and she went to doggy daycare and when she turned 3 everything changed we have no clue what happened but she wants to bite and your video has given me motivation to try again and she is getting better finally!
So I’m supposed to match my dogs energy with getting his attention.. but you gave no examples. On to another video.
Americans always think they are the greaters dog teachers but all their videos revolve around prong collars that are banned (for a reason) in a lot of countries.
You were just talking and talking without giving us any teaching example
Can you actually show how you train him instead of just showing us the end results in the videos? This was all talk and not helpful at all
My dog is so reactive he pulls full force because he wants to play, really struggling to fix it. He whines and crys at the top of his lungs. Really stuck on how to fix it.
Backstory as a young pup he had a brother and he really just played like crazy with him so he sees all dogs in that way
1:43 I feel this guys pain 🤣 this is the most annoying thing especially in the morning after you just woke up 😭😭
Mines plays 4D chess. He lays down first to let people approach with their dog to say hi, then shoots to play when they’re close.
You're talking about prong collars and e collars like we know what they are and how to use them. Overall, a good, helpful video. I just acquired a ten-year-old intact male border collie that is extremely reactive while walking to dogs in their yards, kids, cars going by. He's leash and choke chain is taut the entire time. He acts like he's two. He's completely stir crazy and decompressing after living with a very feeble old woman in a motorhome for a year and a half; she could barely take him out to potty. So I'm confident we'll be all right over time.
My dogs were well socialised as puppies but they are still terrible on lead one really just round other dogs the other is terrible at dogs and people passing by… Tried treats etc to distract but as soon as it's in their mouth they're back to barking and in most cases choking
Did anyone else watch this and think “that was nothing” compared to how their dog reacts to other dogs 😂
I’m tired of trainers using dogs that are already trained.
Didn’t explain how to do anything
My dog is so reactive to other dogs it’s exhausting. So much training and she still is this way. She was never socialized as a puppy so now any dog is the enemy and she wants to dominate. She plants her feet and will not shift her attention no matter what. She is almost stronger than me now and idk what I’ll do when she is. Shes a boxer so she already has impulse controls.
sryy but my dog is my best friend i can go up the wall everytime i hear the word punish, plz never ever punish ur dog for doing something wrong, i allways say to my clients, do not punish your dog, as he or she will lose his her trust in you, if ur dog does something wrong then correct him, by doing the same thing over and over again, as soon as he she gets it right the first time, stop and overload her/ him with a well meant pat, and praise stop exercising, wait bout 10 min and do it again, like i have said over and over again, practice makes Champions !!!
My dog dont care about them damn treats 😭😭
Do you believe that a prong collar is the choice you would go with in a 3 yr old Shih Tzu & 1 year old – but mainly the 3 year old when it comes to reactivity training.
okay quick summary of what to do:
1. Use prong collar
2. Let your dog act up and make their own decision
3. give a correction (tug on the leash which will engage the prong collar)
3b. Tug hard enough to get your dog to look at you (or something similar, acknowledge you over the "thing")
4. When your dog redirects attention back to you, reward them with something they will like (good boy, pat on the head, treat maybe…)
5. Repeat until dog learns to stop making bad decisions
ive had 3 german Shepherds that I was able to walk on the lease passing other dogs and people. Yes they were a BIT reactive but I kept them at a distance from other dogs they saw along the walk. Same walk along the canal. After weeks of same great walk those smart dogs considered the dogs and people they saw part of their pack! I was discovered this when I had to pass 10 or so dogs being trained with their owners. Yikes, I had to pass them. My dog looked amazing to all those owners when I told my dog LETS GO! they all thought my gsd was well trained. Lol
I realized I was ready to be calm and gave the right command .
Currently rescued a husky shepherd mix from Texas and she's a terror. Screams, yes and howls to get to other dogs. She wants to play but she plays hard like comes across vicious. She's not but cannot let her approach another dog like that, Shell get bitten. Have not solved the problem cannot walk at the canal had her 2 yrs this month. She's the sweetest with people and kisd too. LOVES OTHER DOGS OVER THE TOP. problem continues.
I have a yorkie mix with a Shih Tzu when I take him outside he barks at people and also goes crazy when he sees bikes. I got him around five months from my cousin. I recently just potty trained him a few months ago and he’s turning one in November. I really want him to stop reacting like this so I can take him to other places. Hopefully, this works. I’ll come back with an update maybe in a month or two!
Worst vid ever
You do not needed an E Collar on that dog. Very poor advice
Oh!, STOP FEEDING YOUR DOG. INSTEAD GIVE IT LEADERSHIP
That dog is not reactive he just wants to engage and stimulate play. Natural dog behaviour.

Frida is definitely reactive to other dogs–barking and charging. I use a prong collar. I use the minimal amount of pressure to "pop" her collar in order to get her to pay attention to me when she reacts. However, on days that I have to apply a substantial amount of force to get her attention, she coughs a lot. I'm concerned I'm doing damage to her trachea (or something in her neck). Would you suggest I go to an e-collar now, or perhaps a muzzle collar? Frida is 35 lbs and has a very skinny neck.
what collar do you use for a small pomerian?
Prong and e-collars are banned in the country I live in. I am sure this is a fast track way of training as the good to bad feedback is so severe. I'll keep looking elsewhere
You lost me at ‘prong collar’ I’m in Australia & they’re illegal.
One of my German Shepards is aggressive reactive on a leash to other dogs. Nothing as tame as this dog.
This video didn’t actually show the process to keep your dog from lunging though.
Not sure why anyone would walk dogs off leash.. just because your dog is trained doesn’t mean others are.
try that with a Jack russel. the one dog ull never see on a vid like this. EVER
What about a dog that was traumatized by another dog at a young age my was socialized from the time I got him now he even sees a dog he starts screaming and lunging at the other other dogs what can I do
Did you say prong collar?
My dog is a tiny yorkie. This doesn't fly.
punish ? Man I'll never watch another video by you
Is there any other way without using a prong collar?
Prong collars are banned in my country.
My puppy does this to my 8 year old! She will not let her by without barking, lunging, and nipping at her. She’s trying to play i think.
What breed is it? 🙂
