Mario sounds american before Mario64 when they hired martinet and that modulated italian voice cannot work with emotional lines in this movie. This movie is just perfection
Proof we need to stop paying known actors to play roles. Most movies targeting kids having big names attached to them bloating the budget…. why? because that might get the adults to watch too because I love Chris Pratt… Yea well real low IQ play to try and talk in a mario accent. If he just talked like himself it would have been fine but now its just cringe.
This honestly has no right to look this good
Mario did originally had a BROOKLYN accent for those that didn't know. The creator of Mario said that Mario bros canonically raised in a City like new York, no particular name but that's how the story went for Mario bros game originally, so the first Mario cartoons made them from New York with a Brooklyn American Italian accent thus showing Nintendo is clearly going for this with Chris Patt's voice, you can slightly hear the Brooklyn accent on the last line of Mario, there's still more trailers to come, it will be fine. You can see Mario didn't know where he was, it was the first time in the mushroom kingdom.
I LOVE Bowser’s voice. It’s Mario I’m still having an issue with.
It is gonna be weird at first, of course, but I can’t imagine to have the same Mario voice than in the games, so high, it would drive us nuts. My sons use to watch old Mario series on dvd and the voices are “normal” but the quality is so bad I feel like I’d punch someone. So I think this can only be better.
I’m much more afraid when I think of a Zelda movie, I only see one way to make Link talk without ruining everything (let’s have a thought for the old animated series too !), so I hope that if this ever become a reality it will be done well !
it's tears of the kingdom, is that what he was talking about? perhaps he means BOTW 1.
With these two actors we are going to get some really amazing banter and dialogue between Bowser and Mario. I can't wait!
I didn’t know there was an arcade version of the original Mario
I think there is this bias ingrained in us to expect the Mario voice from the video games, where he has this over the top Italian accent. The problem with that, is that too much of it becomes kind of too reliant on stereotypes and all he ver says is catch phrases. That voice was also not intended to deliver significant amounts of dialogue or drama. If you go back and look at the old Saturday morning cartoons or even the terrible Bob Hoskins movie, Mario has more of a Brooklyn accent. Chris Pratt is totally doing a slight Brooklyn accent and I am good with it. Pratt has proven himself with diverse portrayals in Guardians of the Galaxy, the Lego Movies and Jurassic World films. There is no mixing up Emmett, Owen, or Peter Quill. It's gonna be fine, we just need to acclimate.
We need a Zelda movie as well 🙁
This is supposed relate to the classic Mario Series
Imagine they made a super Smash Bros movie
I wanna see how peach, yoshi look like
Honestly when he first speaks, I just heard Starlord speaking out of Mario's face. But the "Mushroom Kingdom, here we come!" gave more of an idea what Chris Pratt was going for, and I think it can work.
You know, the more I listen to the trailer the more I Marios voice grows on me. The "what is this place" sounds just like Pratt but the second line clearly has an accept that I think would work for Mario. I wanna hear more lines from him now to really see what he did with the voice.
I like Mario’s voice. If the movie only had the original voice the whole time it would have gotten very annoying very quickly. Chris Pratt will add that human side and add the comedy & Jack Black is an absolute Legend and he has done a fantastic job with Bowser’s voice
I've seen the original Super Mario Bros movie more than once…even if this one stinks, will still be an improvement over that one.
Looks and sounds great
I might not like it just being Chris Pratt's voice where he doesn't even try to change it, but Miyamoto approves so I'll let it ride.
