I guess my kitten is a half wallflower because it's not too scared, eats normally and drinks normally, does business in the litterbox, etc. Not so social I guess. Can't pet it without it running away, so we give it alone and quiet time as much as possible. Always meows after her brother and mother which she was seperated from. Also meows at me, which I'm guessing means she's telling me to help her find her brother and mother. Can someone help me with this? Thanks!
Ashamed to say, I didn't think my two unusually friendly cats would need a proper intro. I learned my lesson when they almost destroyed each other and everything else in the house. I'm really really hoping that these videos help me
What if the new cat and old cat have had several brief introductions (on our front porch). The old cat lives inside and the new cat is a stray outside, and we have already introduced them several times and they sniff each others noses etc.
I wish I would have watched this before getting the second one😢
i have two kittens ones really little ones more of a teenager but should i introduce them now or after the little one gets fixed? or maybe now and after it gets fixed ?
I have a 6mth old female kitten and may be getting a 5mth male kitten if I pass the home check don’t worry both have been spayed so no chance of kittens so will definitely be putting all the advice into action or will it be easier with them both being kittens
I have 3 females & rescued a male kitten last year & kept him separated for just 2 days. It seemed it was easier to introduce a boy to the girls. Now, last week, I rescued another male kitten. He's been separated for 2 days now & my resident boy is very aggravated by the new kitten. Today I've let them see each other through the baby gate at a distance & my resident boy hisses & snarls at the kitten. The girls don't really seem bothered by the kitten. All my cats are fixed. After seeing each other this afternoon resident cat seems a little more relaxed.
What if the new female cat (2 years old) is always determined to chase and attack my two resident male cats (3 and 8 years old)? Despite trying to distract her with food and play, she only focuses on attacking them. I eventually had to separate them. Now, my 8-year-old male cat is traumatized and avoids her completely.
Before considering surrendering her, what can I do? She's very affectionate with me when other cats aren't around, although a bit naughty and active. Her love can be aggressive—she wants to crawl all over me and checks on me every 2 minutes.
How many days do u go without eye xontact though if they have seen one another?
I just moved in with my girlfriend and one of her cats really doesn’t like my cat. He will hiss and pounce at him and then we have to put him back in the room with the door closed. It’s been about 2 months. This cat also has some developmental issues, and we didn’t do every step right because the original room he was in had a door that wouldn’t close all the way, and he figured out how to open it. I don’t know what to do to make them all get along. Her other cat and him seem to get along fine, a little pouncing and hissing, but they play and are friends. Can we go back to square one? I want them all to be friends

Jackson – we rescued a small kitten from a [[[[[[[[[[[[[[[=- (<<< kitten keyboarding) wooded area on our property. We got her to the vet for immediate care. For about 3 weeks she lived in our detached garage. About a week ago I started the process recommended by your videos for introducing our two older cats to the new kitten. I am so pleased to report the unification has gone very smoothly. Overall just a little hissing and growling. The kitten is on full go throughout the house, but returns to her base when she hears a new sound she hasn't been introduced to previously, house guests, etc. One of our cats is very docile and enjoys watching the antics but doesn't participate. Our male cat and the kitten are becoming great playmates. These are the dynamics I predicted. Thank you for your expertise. We love all of our cats and look forward to non-stop fun and companionship. I was nervous about bringing a new kitten into the fold, but you made it a successful adventure!
What if my cat absolutely only eats in a specific spot, she won’t eat anywhere else?
I'm loving your videos so far!! For various reasons I can't do the feeding on the other side of the door or nixing free feeding. My original cat has 5 intestinal diseases and has to be able to free feed, and also putting the food on the floor on the other side of the kittens door then the dog would eat it. Is there a replacement thing I can do to build positive associations? I have been toy swapping so that they associate play with the smell of the other cat.
I know this is an old video but I hope you see this and can help—in terms of feeding on a Schedule— what if he doesn’t finish his food because he’s used to grazing? Do you take the food away and eventually he’ll catch on to the fact that it’s eat now, or you don’t get food again until late?
Hybrid kittens 4 months old and siblings. I adopted Mia when she was 8 weeks old. All the kittens accept her brother Big Boy had been adopted. The breeder has asked me if I’m interested and I’m. He is reportedly 3x bigger than all his siblings, loves to climb and at night loves to be loved on. She also says he never scratches her, he keeps his claws retracted. This kitten she thought to be the runt of the litter and she thought he was a she until recently when she said hey are those nuts that just dropped? 😊😂
Here’s my concerns….my house is only 750 sq feet 1 bed 1 ba ,office and open floor plan living room kitchen with dining table. Mia is an indoor kitten only. My son drove from Plains MT Oct 29,2024 to help me by hanging several shelves in the living room and kitchen. Plus the low hanging cabinets so she has all that space too. So many people have told me that I should have a second cat for Mia and I have said no every time. But now I’m open to the idea. I definitely need your advice. It’s Nov 3rd and I’m hoping to hear from you soon to advise me on if you think it can be a harmonious relationship for the 3 of us or if I should stay with my original plan one cat. Their Mother is a F4 Savannah and the father is registered Maine Coon . Since Mia has been here with me since she was 8 weeks old she has become accustomed to my surroundings and schedule. I sleep a lot from my chemotherapy and pain medication and she does well. We get our sleep ,play/hunt ,eat, poop and cuddles and sleep.
Repeat…… now her brother 3 x her size comes into hers and my world ……what do you think? I need your opinion and advice.
Thank you
Cheri&Mia
Possibly Max too.
What would we do without JG!!! The cat GOAT! Hey Jackson- when you were a little kid, did you ever dream that one day you'd lovingly be called a cat goat by throngs of fans??! My 7 yo daughter is a certified card carrying cat lady in-training. She already got me to cave shamelessly about adopting one stray from our neighborhood after she was raising kittens in an abandoned car in winter! Now (of course) theres a new kitten on the block that my daughter immediately fell in love with when it ran up to us and wouldn't stop following us and has now camped out on our porch overnight. So, I'm doing some research inot just how much of a feat it would be to adopt the kitten, too. Thank God the world has Jackson, a super smart, super expert cat whisperer who we can actually trust for good info in a jam!!!
Let this be a warning to everyone, This video is a completely a lie, i have been introducing 2 cats with my other two cats. I did the not seeing each other, smells slow introduction did everything the video says and nothing I am 5 months into this and no success. I dont know what to do now. I do not recommed introducing new members into the family.
My dog and cat didn't get along great when they met, now we're all hanging out and a new cat is chilling in her base camp, acclimating.
Two months ago we rescued a two year old cat from a kill shelter who was less than 30 days away from being destroyed. We had a resident cat that has been with us for eight years. Fortunately our 24 year old daughter told us about Jackson Galaxy and this method. We followed this method to a t, and today they are best friends and inseparable. It took some time (about three weeks) before all the hissing ceased. But it worked like a charm.
I already fucked up on step one
I'm getting a lot of grief from And aspiring cat behaviorist that It is no longer recommended to feed on either side of the introduction barrier For their main meals. Honestly, I've never had an issue with it but she keeps telling me there's scientific evidence against this because they are solitary, hunters and solitary eaters. I'd be curious to know your thoughts and also if you subscribe to that new scientific theory, wondering if updating or putting notes on the video might be helpful. If you have any information documented in your videos or other information, I'd be curious to know As I would like to be able to have this information at the ready.
Side note : I've been doing independent cat rescue/tnr/socialization/introductions for over 20 years And have in my care at a minimum 30 plus cats at a time. I want to make sure I'm staying current but also want to know when there's a difference between new scientific theories that are unproven (still being observed/ tested) vs. ones that are proven. TIA 💜
This is really great video ❤
i don’t know what i’m doing wrong, i’m following this guide like it’s the cat bible. Everything was going fine for the closed door feeding, they could both eat right at the door no growling hissing ANYTHING, I let it happen for about 2 weeks of this & decided that since they both are doing great we can do the screen door, but now for some cursed reason the resident cat is hissing, growling, even attempting to attack if new cat is getting at least a foot within her view. i don’t know why it suddenly changed or what i’m supposed to do when the scent thing didn’t really work out and it’s just visual sight that gets the resident cat so upset. i’m devastated
Do all these Tipps also apply to baby kittens?
Fortunately our two cats are great together. We are very lucky
Hi Jackson, thank you for your informative videos! I was wondering if you, or anyone in the comments with a similar experience, have any recommendation for our particular situation: We had 3 cats (all female and spayed 2-5 y old) where one was not being integrated very well so we "stepped back" and isolated her so we could start from the beginning. During this time a family situation led us to welcoming a fourth cat into our home (male, neutered, 16+ y old!). So right now two cats are together and two cats in their own rooms. We are site swapping and nearing physical introductions. I'm curious if there is a preferred method, getting the two solo cats along first and then introducing them two to two, or getting the three old ones to get along first and then introducing the newest family member, or any other combination? Any advice would be appreciated 🙂
Okay what about the majority of us who can't afford a 2-story mansion? I live in a studio apartment and there is simply no way to separate 2 cats without one of them suffocating with heat inside a window-less room. I've had a cat for 6 years and I just rescued a kitten but they can't get along. My resident cat has stopped eating and drinking water for days and that makes me very worried for his health. I have decided to find a new home for the rescue kitten, at least I'll have peace in my heart knowing I took him off the streets, gave him all the meds and vaccines he needed and neutered him
