Klik I ve followed you on youtube for more than a decade at this point. And the day you stop making videos will be the day I decide to grow up. So I wish you a long life and hope you never stop making these.
I think everyone can agree that we don't have to be the overpowered Chosen One. We just want to be a normal student who got caught up in unfortunate events like The Hero in Kvatch in Oblivion. He's not the Chosen One but just the guy who did the right thing.
I think this review captures my experiences quite well. Overall enjoyed lots about it, but quite a few aspects of the game felt a little bit grindy and there were more than a few annoyances. Personally I felt like the Hogwarts design was a bit more 'palace' than 'castle', and wish there had been more immersion in the school side of things.
I'd love to see a remake of the actual Harry Potter series using this game style though, with the RPG elements emphasised a bit more.
I played on PS5 and didn’t have the control problems you have, but otherwise I completely agree with everything. I started off being enchanted by the magic, then got bored with the grind and repetitive open world areas. I anticipated feeling a lot more like a student in the game, if you want to go out at night, you have to sneak around teachers like in the old games. Those sneak missions were one of the best parts, yet there were only like three of them in the game! A hundred Merlin trials though thankfully.
"I want to complete games as efficiently as possible"…that's why your opinion sucks. You don't savour this awesome game, the obvious love put into it by the creators, you want efficient completion. A guy like you would never casually fly around exploring, appreciating the game for what it is. This game has soul, you don't. Hogwarts should be game of the year, your opinion is in your ass.
moders are gonna have a field day with this, hopefully see you guys in 2/4 years when this game becomes truly Wonderfull
oh no
It sounds like you use keyboard and mouse really when you shouldn't. It's like wanting to play fps on a gamepad. You can sure but why?
transphobe
not like its difficult to use a controller, stop being a bonehead and get one, its not like its the only pc game that works better with a controller.
Great vid. Made me play the game again for the first time in a few months
your profile picture! so hot
bought this game to play it with my little sister who is a big fan of the franchise. We both enjoyed it at first but since i always have to do most of the fighting (she is too scared to do so) I really started to notice the repetitiveness after some time. really feels like a beautiful game was just expanded into infinity by some careless AI or something
I played through it on steam deck, but i agree it really drags in the late game
I would rather it were a game with no plot or story at all, just allowing you to be a student. rather than the obligatory "save the world" story.
hogwarts leg
Man those spells hit hard with HDR enabled…
WASD? i use RDFG
I find it amusing to hear someone complain about waisted time after so many hours waiting for the source engine to compile.😢
Please make a video covering the 7 wonders of the gaming world
most overrated game of the year. shockingly enough still better than many other AAA releases.
What's the song at the end in the background?
Hogwarts Leg.
I hate it when a game, show or a movie starts well and ends poorly. Game of Thrones was the worst because I was so invested in it. Now I mostly wait until the whole show is done, check out the ratings for the last season and episodes and don't even start when it's bad. So I think I'll pass on Hogwarts for now and wait for their next iteration.
Clearly played on easy difficulty. Complains game is too easy..
Honestly this moment is crazy for me. Found you with your game making journey series awhile back. Alot has happened, even changed majors from game development twice lol. Great video, keep kicking!
In short:
DO buy this game
DON'T try to 100% it
Creating a great game based on books/movies is a hard as creating a great movie/tv-show based on games. I think thry have done a fantastic job since it allowed so many "Potterheads" to enjoy it. I have seen countless people in many social media groups just raving about it and loving it, mostly saying that it is exactly what they wanted. I have also seen so many people in their 40s and 50s purchase a gaming console solely for thebreason of playing this, so it is also a pretty nice entry for new people into gaming.
Also, if you ask me, it is the most aesthetically pleasing game I saw.
I agree with amny of your points, but it has that special something, making it a wonderful universe to lose yourself in. It is a 9/10 game because of that
Great review, I really agree about the game wanting you to feel special, everything you do is complimented and adored it's beyond cringey, I was really wanting to feel like just another student in this world that doesn't revolve around me.

damn you still kinda suck
Harry Potter Hogwarts legacy?
More like Hardly Proper RPG(rpg as in roleplaying game as in multiple choices that matter, e.x. Fallout New Vegas)
Boredome Legacy
For me this game went from "good" to "one of the worst games I've played in years"
Icl this game is actually terrible – i feel like if it was called anything other than hogwarts it would be an unknown disaster
Just here to say that im loving the HDR on my main gaming monitor. Hope for more content in HDR soon!
I wonder 2kliksphilip. Did you play gothic 2: Night of the Revan? I think you would love that game.
Odyssey crew reporting in!
But remember: we're supposed to cancel and dismiss all this hard work because people who use TikTok, play Fortnite, shop on Shein/Wish/Amazon/Walmart, and pay for Disney's blatant CCP propaganda think you shouldn't buy something that creates profit for a single bad person of any kind.
If the next AI generation is well developed. I hope it can be implemented into the game to avoid that problem.
Thank you for the HDR video 2kliksphilip. It looks amazing
attacking the mooncalf for this vid was a crime
I still have Ragnarok to play, I bought it since release but couldn’t finish it before getting bored.
I stopped playing after finishing a few quests using avada kadavra and beating ranrok.
I am glad I didn't stick around to grind the remaining nonsense
I agree with you on almost everything in this review – exploring hogwarts was really something special that I haven't seen in games for quite a while. I will say that my experience of the combat was much different than yours though… I rebound most of the actions pretty much right away because they didn't make any sense, and I really enjoyed doing big combos, or using the unique interactions between some spells and specific attacks. I thought it was actually a pretty deep combat system with some real skill expression, though you could pretty easily out-level your opponents and trivialize it by following the critical path.
ewg gewa
how on earth did you 100% AC Odyssey twice, that was the first AC game i refused to finish because of the mindless quests & filler content
I hate the new channel picture.
I saw someone said this game is "Dark Souls for mormon" and I keep thinking about it
I agree 100% with your review of the game. It's a fantastic game with many minor annoyances. And the fact that its so good makes it easy to nit pick the few things that could make it a lot better. First and foremost, the complete lack of consequences or moral system I think is a big oversight by the developers. Casting unforgivables left and right, literally entering anywhere without anyone caring about it (except the restricted section of the library, and the prefects area for some reason), etc. I think you should be penalized somehow by using the unforgivables, such as halving your hp when casting avada kadaver… It would be lore friendly as well.
For everything else, native mod support would probably let the players fix all the annoying bits of the game. Silencing the floo lady and deek, eliminating the alohamora mini games, spicing up the enemies and the merlin trials, customizing controls, being able to cast spells from the broom, etc. Would all be possible with mods, and it would make the game a lot better.
Its still a great game, the combat is extremely satisfying and the world itself, especially hogwarts, is very well crafted and interesting to explore.
PS. One of the first things I changed in the controls is using mouse right click to leave the broom instead of 'B'. I can't think of a more inconvenient key than B, I mean wtf… It doesn't make sense at all.
Boy am I glad I never finished it. I loved it. Not much of a harry potter fan, but that castle is gorgeous, and (i can confirm) the combat is excellent on controller.
