Which of these facts about meows did you find the most interesting? 😺
My cats meow for everything. I (sometimes) meow back .. but I think they understand my words better than my meow 😅 when I meow they look at me like I don’t make any sense so I rather not lol 🤣
Cleocatra is a quiet lap cat. Bella Regina is the manically vocal on.
a Russian blue [which was shown when the narrator was saying "chartreuse"] she only makes loud cries when her food dish is empty. or her favorite toy has been locked over [suakky by her] other than that, we rarely hear a sound from her [except her purr which is loud enough to hear from the next room
What does it mean when your cat meows at you then does a love bite
I have a very vocal cat and kitten
thank you my cat got uthinised to day
I have owned Siamese cats and grew up with them… They are extremely talkative 🙂
My baby Always and Constantly meows. Mainly to me. Especially when I get home from work
Now I recognize that kitty at the end. Thank you for showing her to the world! She meows at us when she either a) wants attention; b) is hungry; c) greets us when we return back home; d) retorts my words and protests when I don't allow her in certain places or e) is in her playful/zoomies mood and tricks us to come in the same room as her to pounce on us, and, as a bonus nibble on us too. ❤
There are exceptions to any rule… #1 : My two adult cats are 6-year-old brothers. They have meowed to each other since they were born, and have never stopped. They primarily do this to locate each other in our home.
We know they're talking to each other, because we have recorded them on camera when we're not home. They meow to each other from different rooms, in a call and response pattern, walking gradually toward each other for a minute or two, until they're face to face.
Also, one brother has developed some serious health issues. When he was at the ER vet overnight for several days, his brother at home looked for him constantly, meowing all the while. When he came home, his brother ran to his carrier, chirruping and meeping continuously, batting at the carrier, until his brother was out of the carrier, then purring.
They are very bonded (yes, males!), and "talk" to each other a lot.
My kitty meows 😻😺for food & treats, also for play time, he will bring a sm soft ball to me for playtime! 😂
He has me around his paw
Our cat hardly ever meows, and his purrs are barely audible. But he does trill whenever he jumps up onto the bed or his windowsill.
Some cats also understand human language to some extent. I've seen a few of them figure out that certain words were connected to certain things. If I say "can" or "fish" near the cat, he'll often get a look like he's asking if I'm offering anything, while "good kitty" often gets a smug, happy face no matter the tone. If he accidentally makes a mess somewhere and I mention it to him, he gets an unhappy look that almost seems like saying "it was terrible, my food fell back out." He's very good at identifying any commonly used language around him and figuring out what it means, and he does rather distinct things to get certain kinds of attention.
He meows a lot at certain times. He'll make noises if he wants food and sometimes for cuddles, and he gets really noisy if he actually smells food because he gets excited.
The one we used to have was even smarter and not only changed his expression in direct response to a very large number of messages, he also attempted to speak in English at me sometimes. He would vocally make meows sound like "no" when protesting, "now" when eager for food, and had a less used meow that came out very close to "yeah." He used that one on occasion in answer to some questions. He also understood "come here" and actually did so when I said it but not for other people, and recognized "bath" as a terrible word that meant getting wet on the occasion he actually got one. Most recognizably, you could speak as if to a human with mildly complex sentences and the cat would sometimes respond in ways that made clear sense. The most adorable time was when I asked once if he was being a good kitty after he tried killing some bugs, and he loudly said "yeah!" Then he just smiled at me with an expectant face that was clearly asking for cuddles. That cat was outright easier to talk to than humans sometimes because he was so expressive and made it obvious that he understood a good bit of what I said to him.
😍🥰💗💗
👍🏻
My tabby boy, Bumblebee, is a quiet boy. He doesn't meow very often, and when he does, it comes out as this cute kitten-like squeak. He grew up, but his voice didn't.
Both of mine are very vocal. Think it may have something to do with being a Tabby / Maine Coon.
I love it, most of the time! 🙂
All my kitties are now gone but we always meowed to each other. I meow at barking dogs. Usually stops the barking.
when my first cat died I was distraught. I waited 2 weeks then got 2 cats at the same time. A female calico and a grey kitten. They got along fine, when she died after 10 years at age 16 the male and I were distraught this time. He was so quiet all this time. Never talked. The calico did all the talking. After she was gonje I notced this tiny sound coming from him like "eee". After a few months it changed into a regular meow. But always soft. I wondered if he was deaf. But soon realized he was just ignoring me.
I have two cats living together, and they meow with each other…
Also a fun observation… they stop meow at around 2.5-3 months old and start again at around 4.5-6 months old 😅
#1 is a lie. Our 3 year old cat meows at our older cat all the time when he's trying to play with him
🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛ Purrrrrfect video
My Siamese cat barely meowed and it was more a squeak when she did meow. It was the cutest thing ever! I miss her so much 😢 She lived to be 13, so feel very blessed that she was with me as long as she was for her breed. ❤
My 2 year old tuxedo Onyx meows every time we come home from work and when she wants to come up on the bed. We meow to her often too, along with the slow blinks while cuddling with her in bed.
Incorrect! My cats meow at each other.
Mine meows in the middle of the night to let me know she’s coming to lay on her human cat bed me 😂
My cat meows at my daughter to get attention and pets from her.
My tan cat Milo meowed all the time. His younger brother Hoot, who was a originally a feral kitten, never said a peep for 10 years. After Milo passed, Hoot finally spoke up, and has been talking ever since. I guess Milo just never let him get a word in! But they were the best of friends ❤
👍
I have never been around a cat that’s as vocal as my little baby boy is.. From day one he’s always been talking to me, wants to be a part of the conversation when I’m on the phone, talking to someone that’s in the apartment.. he talks all the time 😅 I don’t mind it, I’m used to it now and can tell what meow means what. And I like it.. if it wasn’t for him making some noise it would just be me walking around talking to my furniture and walls 😂
Thank you so much for teaching cat lovers to understand 'cat language's ❤🐾❤🐾❤🐾❤🐾
The ONLY time my boy meows out loud is in the middle of the night when he wants to play. BTW these meows woke him up from a deep sleep.
I have a 12yr old little girl named Ozzie who’s exceptionally vocal. If she doesn’t know where i am, she’ll give a distress yowl (drama queen 🙄), and when she sees or hears me, gives a sweet kitten meow.
I have two cats, the male is a tuxedo black and white senior who has always meowed a lot. The female is a tabby approximately 8 years old who rarely meows and more often chirps!
My orange cat Toby meows a lot! His sister Onyx hardly ever meows.
I suspect they think we are too dumb to communicate in other ways!
I was surprised by the fact that adult cats don't meow to each other as communication. Our 3 cats interact with us by meowing a lot. Especially when it comes to meal time. They can be in another room and I'll ask, are my babies hungry. They instantly start meowing and come running and meow until I give them food. They also meow every time we verbally address them. Even a simple hi they respond with a meow.
My cat Tiger-J meows when he's hungry, when he doesn't want me to leave for work, and when I get home.
Thanks for the guide.
