Well I believe the hybrid was supposed to have a very different look to it, would like to see what they originally had in mind
With respect, I absolutely disagree with the theatrical version of the OBVIOUS hanging dead body (as seen in the wide shot before the "jump scare" of the scene when they first enter) is "perfectly paced" in either form. Frankly in the film as is it's incredibly stupid and makes Rain look like she is utterly oblivious in a situation where the entire point of the scene is that they are supposed to be hyper aware of danger all around them. At least in the deleted scene it at least sort of addresses why she might be slightly startled by again, the obvious hanging body as it's more a "oh, I accidentally stumbled into it while staring at the other one" rather than a "omg body out of nowhere!" type thing. But hey, I guess opinions can vary for the film.
The movie is NOT Canon.
Enjoyed Alien: Romulus and all the Easter eggs therein! An extended director's cut would be great, especially if it included more scenes on the planet.
This guy needs to talk faster.
the commentary would go something like "we made a badly cobbled together and distasteful greatest hits of the alien franchise"
This movie suck
Not sure why they have to cut any action scene, we're here to see the aliens in action, not hear about useless dialog, like honegirl pregnant by some dude…we would've figured it out, doesn't have to be jump scares, just an organic terror shots..
Sadly I wasn't able to catch it in theaters. I did buy digital. Would like to see a director's cut something. They don't do that or I said on this switch before. I kind of like it and how it ties in the elements of the books books.
A shame they didn't go with the alternate lab scene, the less Prometheus, the better, if only they'd removed all references to Big Chap as well perhaps I'd rate this higher. Sadly, this will be the first Alien film ever that I won't be purchasing, I think I'll just stick to the original trilogy, they are the only ones that are worthy
Watched it 7 times what a film
I enjoyed Romulus for what it was but the third act was ridiculous.
355 millions dollars is successful in today's world??? 80 mil plus another 80 for advertising campaign probably another 20 that's 180 mil so they are left with 175 mil and something they can throw on streaming I wouldn't call this a success but a calculated move .
Xenos should absolutely be able to recognize objects that can do them harm as most animals can do this to some degree. This wouldn't require impressive cognitive abilities. In-fact, this is probably a core tenet of Darwinian Evolution
I love your videos and analysis man but yea this film didn’t deserve one unfortunately
It felt like resurrection confirmed they could know what guns are. The alien in that movie used a trail of discarded weapons on the ground to lure one of the main characters away and kill him. My head canon is they have the intelligence the host they birthed from had.
The quadrillogy is amazing. Anything extra from this i.p is welcome.
just wish there was a cut of the movie with the cringe references and fanservice cut or greatly diminished.
You forgot the release on YouTube ! (people have been uploading a lot of « Blockbusters » lately…)
The cadence he speaks in… is annoying.
I think the reason they didn't go with the Alien backing away from a gun scene was actually due to S.D. Perry's Alien Labyrinth. In that book it is confirmed that Xenomorphs will always attack a threat to their hive regardless of the danger to the drone itself and do so above all other needs. The fact that they included the Plagiarus praepotens from Cold Forge shows that they were very aware of the different novels in the franchise and what they had to offer.
I’m glad they kept the Prometheus references
I would love a directors cut with more details of the background and stories cause I fell in love with these characters and want to know more abt them
Yeah this digital bs needs to be stopped without physical copies movies we love will continue to disappear
Movie sucked it got better a little later on but here's the thing in aliens 2 they had abunch of bad ass marines that couldn't defeat the alien so how are these scrawny dei kids supposed to last long enough to make a movie worth watching. I'll rewatch the old movies another 100 times but not gonna watch this woke hollywood crap again.
I think a director's cut could nicely accompany a future film installment to help boost awareness and hype.
Even though the last 15 minutes were pure garbage that ruined a perfectly made movie I gotta get that VHS copy! I’d like to see an ending without that bullshit offspring. Ridley needs to stay away from the franchise and let blomkamp take a shot
VHS… Screw VHS, give us a LASERDISC RELEASE for the nostalgia!
lmao. love how everyone ignores advertising budget…$80 million production… $60-$80 million advertising. so it made around $190 million.
Romulus wasnt good enough to discuss missing scenes – regardless of what the narrative chatbots are trying to push
could be cool having a xeno morph that perfers killing with its tail. he kills bork with his tail and acid, kills bud with his tail. and catches rain with his tail.
This was well done great explanation description very interesting
Bjorne's alternate death would have been much better.
This whole embarrassing shit-show of an alien movie should be deleted! I have followed your channel, and respected your opinion, but your continued support for this idiocy baffles me..
I feel like they missed the potential of showing more about that lab rat mutated by the black liquid.
I like the alternate Bjorn death scene. He actually seemed to be showing sense during most of it. The moment where he stands watching the spike just seems, too stupid for him. The whole linking to Prometheus and Covenant just didn't work for me. I liked it better when humanity is just one part of a dark, mysterious, expanse. We didn't need those films or those stories.
Personally I loved the movie. It gave that original alien and aliens feel. It was dark and had a slight cyberpunkish feel ! i know some people here may not like it. But like I said It is my personal view !
Theatrical, Alternate, keep it removed, Theatrical.
This is why I have a vcr.
Thank you for showing us the deleted scenes Alien Theory. Btw, I really love your channel. I’m glad the Alien Universe is being kept alive by channels and content like yours does. I really wanted to love this film. Sadly, my utter expectations fell into deep disappointment. The first half an hour or so of the movie was awesome. However, for me I think the huge lack lustre factor came from no real feel of dread like the original films engaged us with. The whole concept of scavenger hunters landing on a deserted space station had so much potential but failed in delivering an ominous feel throughout, something that both Alien and Aliens immersed us with from start to finish. A commentary version is a must have with the Alien franchise otherwise perspectives cannot be discussed or appreciated. This is why your channel rocks my friend. Keep up the great work.
The alien backing away at the gun scene reminds me of how in Alien Isolation if you pull out the flamethrower after using it on the alien before, it freezes because it gets scared and stops in its tracks before continuing to attack you. They know what the weapons can do.
