There are a number of older racing games in which you race for position in this manner, but with different card use to accomplish it. Their card system is used in racing games now, like Downforce. I kinda like the idea and look of this game. I just don't think the game justifies the price it sells for. If I didn't already have games like it, I might think a little more about it, but the wooden track would have to look more like a race track and less like a cribbage board, for me to be interested. I do like that you liked it. I'm always glad to see people enjoy sports games. There aren't enough of them.
As a massive F1 fan, I would love to get this game. But unfortunately, I don't know anyone who would want to play with me.
I would never have noticed or cared about this game in a million years if it did not have the wooden track and the cool little 60s race cars. Personally, I think looking expensive is one of its real selling points. It looks like something you'd find in a design magazine, and you know from the minute you see that wooden track that you're not going to be punching out cheap cardboard tokens because someone at Asmodee was too miserly to spring for plastic game pieces.
This review is a little wonky. It's too long for a review, but not long enough or well organized enough to be a How To Play video, despite being more of a How To Play video than a review. Plus, if it's supposed to be a review, you should really know (and say) how much the game costs. Price is a huge factor for most of us when we buy a game. And who knows what "a little pricey" means in the world of board games. A little pricey compared to what? The basic set for Gloomhaven is $140. Monopoly is $20. "A little pricey" with no context or number attached is needlessly discouraging, and the opposite of informative.
I don't want to seem like I'm bagging on you. I liked the video, and I do feel like I know more about the game I just ordered than I did before, I just think your format could use a little more planning. It feels like you're winging it, when you should be working from an outline.
