They can completely replace all biological supportive structures with technology, including consciousness. Least likely. B. Their machine, AI, "evolves" and eclipses their biological creators. I think aliens just give the f*ck up. Hundreds of thousands years to find out the mysteries of the universe and they still can't discover it. Just out of boredom I believe they just gave up. The error both of them seem to be making is that assuming any life forms will eventually evolve into intelligence. Aliens if they have had a head start of billions of years compared to humans would not necessarily evolve into intelligent beings capable of intergalactic travel.

If they have the ability to come to us, they are by default going to be far beyond us. We can't do that and we don't have a feasible option to be able to do that.

If aliens wanted to "observe" humans on the year 2024, and they are 3000 light years away , they would need to do so 6000 years ago, (3000 years in light speed to get to Earth and another 3000 years to retrieve this information. This alien would then be 6000 years older , as a group. ) They also run the risk of their own demise after 6000 years by whatever chance-event-factor.
