Is there anything you thought about the game pre-release that you ended up being wrong about? Let me know!
Even though Roger is a lot better here, no one can ever replace Ryan to me.
Took me like 8 months to actually commit to beating this game. I don’t understand how someone can commit to this game and beat it in 3 days. Didn’t you ever get bored?
Bruh, how did you NOT like the story? That was a great story. The simplicity makes it hit hard.
"Solid Foundation", That is literally my thoughts about this game.
I'm not gonna say i hated it, but i didnt have a lot of fun. Many many things bothered me throughout the whole game. I honestly give it a 6 just because it was the best we got in the past 10 years but i dont see why people give this game high ratings just because they had low expectations lol doesn't make sense to me
Mainly cos I was having controller issues, my bad sense of direction and stubbornness passing certain issues etc. it took me like 47 hours to complete. My issues i guess was pacing issues, bad control in cyberspace, how broken the fishing minigame is especially given the meteor showers and the anti-climactic boss it was a great game between characterisation, exploration, combat and atmosphere that overall I can overlook those problems definitely a 7.5 for me or 8.
7:40 oh f u premy I was trying to take everything in and chaos island was hard getting to the emeralds and definitely fished a lot to get the egg memos
I would have been happy if cyberspace was only 2d
Open world only 3d
I preferred that set up in either space
2d open world felt weird
And 3d cyberspace felt worse because of the control jank
I had my reservations pre-launch, but the game is a LOT better than I thought it'd be. However, I knew that I wouldn't like the cyberspace level, and now, I wish they weren't there at all😑.
I just finished the game and now im getting up to date with spoiler reviews. I really hated what happened after island 3. To me the game is a 6/10 , still better than Forces, but endgame was insultingly bad, story goes to shit, and extra boss was touhou for some reason? I love bullet hells but having that minigame as a final boss felt like the game spitting on my face. Very dissapointed , not excited for future Sonic games
Is drop dash momentum real or fixed?
It took me 30 hours to beat the game mainly cause I wanted to explore as much as possible on each island before progressing with the main story.
I think if I just purely focused on the story I would beat it in less than nine hours easy. Prolly much quicker.
I avoided eggmans memos till I beat the game and wow it was twist in there but I did call the obvious body nod and connected the dots before it was hinted
The story I thought was really good I told myself I would be satisfied if it's better than the meta era and it it far better than the 2010 Sonic stories just one thing Amy says at the end of the game she references two characters one that makes sense and the other makes no sense at all that made me bring the story down to a 8 or a out of 10 just for the story alone that's what I would give it just cause of that one terrible line really Amy you mention a character from Sonic boom that makes no sense. The voice acting I thought they all did a great job especially the main character cast sounds much better than the 2010 Sonic games.
why does bro sound like hes a british guy doing a bad american accent
Spoilers:
Just finished the game and here are my thoughts: While the game can be beaten fast, if you explore and do everything then you can definitely reach up to 40-60 hours and I am a very good player.
The Super Sonic Boss Fights are easily the best part of the game, open world feels great to control and is fun, same goes with the combat and enemies actually get tougher (At least on Hard). Cyberspace is Bad though with very little redeeming qualities, basically Forces 2 with reused level design from Gens, Unleashed and SA2. Big’s Fishing felt easy and pointless, honestly a bit mad they wasted development time on it.
Collectibles are too common and you never really need to grind for any of them, however Koco can be grindy if you plan to upgrade Sonic’s Stats to max, I was looking everywhere for them and still even had to buy a lot of extra Koco from Big’s Fishing to reach max.
The Writing was good but the Story felt rushed and left me with more questions then answers, seriously we didn’t even find out what the symbol means. Sage was a great character, loved her interactions with Eggman and how she saw him as a farther as well as Orbot and Cubot as brothers but sadly we will never see them meet because it didn’t end well for her, R.I.P.
Kronos and Ares were amazing and Chaos island was still pretty good to me, it was after that fight with the knight that the game’s quality falls badly and omg that ending, sucked. Pretty sure that Eggman will think twice before blowing up another moon, 😂
Overall, this ain’t a bad Sonic Game but not a great one either, It’s decently Good but suffers from lack of needed development time (seriously this would had been a disaster if it came out last year) definitely a 7/10 for me and that’s only because I still had fun despite all the flaws.
You were wrong about it being named Rangers lol
As I lay naked in bed with my dreamcast …. Slowly grazing each button … we hav e decided the sonic game is an 11 out of 10. You are welcome that this game exists. Sonic is perfection
I got 27 hrs but I 100% everything including the fishing on each island
I think that's a pretty fair review, Prem, I agree with most of what you said. Personally, I had a blast with this but there are some very clear issues that, had the team been given the proper time, probably would have been fixed up. Other than that, I'd give it about a 7.5-8/10.
Chaos island was probably the hardest island for me I was trying to get to the center of the island for the chaos emerald
but for a SONIC game though ? i thought it really was a good story imo
Honestly I feel playing a sonic game is challenging but then again I usually play Mario games so it’s not that 1 sucks it’s probably because each game controls differently you gotta get used to the new controls
One thing I think we can all agree on is Sage is way more interesting and cool of a character than Infinite
I rather play colors or 06 stop
Best 3D sonic game since generations confirmed. I think this sets a new bar for Sonic Team I'm curious to see how they improve upon this formula for the next Frontiers and I hope they fix all the criticisms of the first game.
Clear ALL memory tokens and have the map completely cleaned with all cyberspace keys in like 12 hours?
ngl wdym by "grandiose" because kronos was one of the smallest islands if im not mistaken, both ares and chaos are considerably larger
Honestly while I understand the 2d in chaos island being mad annoying because you literally cannot get out of it sometimes, the level design quality was to me better than the previous two islands, it was more difficult in general and brought in more skills you need to be competent in. I will say getting from island to island while fun to me definitely was tedious and that does effect the open world flow.
Frontiers is like a 7.5 for me. Reusing the first island was a big hit and cyberspace drags it back from a 9. Combat is interesting. sometimes buggy but it still exceeds the werehog idc.
I'd give a 7 or 8 not a ten but just above 5 mid area
I’m over 10 hours in and I’m still on Kronos. I like to do everything I can in an area before moving on, so I am completely satisfied with the length of Frontiers
ive now completed frontiers yesterday and i can say is that i wish the game was shorter but with alot more refind polish and better thought out level design, 1. after areas island the game becomes a 2d obsicale course rather than a open world sandbox and it kinda ruins the fun after a while and 2. yet again the final boss fight is a massive dissapointment, so id recomend skipping the hard mode ver, frontiers is not a bad game at all, heck its a very great game but id definatley overhyped it and i shouldve been more skeptical going into it cause it would be better in the future to make a shorter game but with more expansive less worlds than just 2 that are great but 3 that are bland and overused. (7.5/10)
I hope it wasn’t just me but who was the villain throughout the story. During my playthrough I was engaged af with the story but like…? All I saw was chaoses siblings going to war
will say this .. there are no invinstabilty frames when you get hit so when you get hit twice in a row before you even can stand you are dead
i got to the blue emerald on the volcanic island using the bird enemies to fly there
Secret Rings takes the cake for worst control, literally no arguments lol
i spent 3 and a half hours in the damn pinball just to get rewarded with space invaders & a scripted QTE, Sonic was supposed to get a new form, I was supposed to be frothing at the mouth over the final boss music, i was supposed to feel like my 16 hours was worth it and what did i get? space invaders, no way to listen to the ost, no post game, not even a damn "thanks for playing!"
As much as they could've abused a snow island and like a beach island it wouldn't fit the theme of the game. Nothing is wrong with chaos one of the cutscenes shows it getting basically being broken apart so it being multiple islands basically floating matches its theme imo. As for the Rhea and Ouranos island fiasco thinking about real life humanity i dont put it past them to reuse the islands design beacause; when an continent breaks apart from a state or country would you give it, its own name or would you reuse the old name classic human logic they would rename it. As there is probably an explanation why they reused the design and music i will go on a limb and say (for my own sanity) that the last two islands were apart of kronos and they just broke off and became their own island overtime because pretty sure the story of the "rocks" in sonic frontiers is years maybe more have passed so the islands could've just broken off overtime due to the abuse of the area. Imo. But hey, thats just a theory, A GAME THEORY! <(Totally not stolen in anyway shape or form Totally.)
Disagree hard on length for being a factor for being a masterpiece. It just matters how dense the game is. Battle Garrega is only about half an hour long but is one of the most in depth games of all times you can replay over and over again
