Love your channel. Food, litter, toys and more, all your advice has been accurate and helpful.
I am so worried and stressed about what to feed my cats. I would like to do raw, but theres vitamins and minerals to add. Afraid of putting to much or not enough. Some videos say all canned and kibble is bad, some say its good. I dont know who to believe or what to do. All other videos I watch are so confusing and overwhelming on the raw diet. Why cant these catfood manufactures just make a complete healthy canned catfood ? I am willing to pay more on food for my cats health.
I question your kitty experience.
I think a cat really likes the company of another cat especially if you are working . I think a loud chaotic house especially when people are “playing” rough with cats or kittens can make them fearful & aggressive .
i really needed to see the part about worry. i just adopted my ivy four days ago and absolutely hate leaving her alone. i worry that she will get into something and get hurt or worse. i worry so much to the point i hate leaving the apartment. i’m going to try to be more comfortable trusting her not to get herself into bad situations.
Will we ever see you again, Mallory? Its very sad to determine that you are no longer on the channel. Your very interesting assistance, deep and detailed discussion, and happiness are all beneficial. Sadly I have a feeling i will nnever see you again. This is a shame. God bless you.
I would add “car training” as similar to the harness/leash training for the future. I would bring my cat Buck with me to my partner’s place, out to do quick chores or get drive thru food, to go pick up friends, etc. He would sit in the passenger seat with his harness on and genuinely enjoyed it! He didn’t associate the car with only going to the vet, which at the end of his life (when he had weekly vet visits) this was amazing. He actually liked the adventure/wasn’t traumatized by it. I see so many cats that are terrified of getting in the car, and it breaks my heart especially when they’re already sick!
I’m going to try this with my new cat too even if he’s a bit shyer, so maybe just short desensitization trips in the car before his next vet visit.
Obviously there is the risk of getting in a crash with the cat, but I feel the improvement to his quality of life overall (not leaving him at home for long periods, not afraid of the vet appts) was worth the risk.
You’re the first person I’ve heard express giving variety in their diets. And I’ve often wondered how yours try foods for review without issues. Because most say feed the what they’re used to and if you change do it super slow. I’ve always wanted to give variety, now I think I will.
I've had many cats over my lifetime, but never two cats at one time. For the first time I have two cats, both house cats. My older cat is so much happier with his little cat mate
I’m 64 yrs in the older days you got a cat and didn’t have to stress about all this , feed them love them play w them and your good😂
What do you recommend for cat toothpaste? My cat doesn't like coconut oil, which I have heard is good to clean their teeth. Just found these videos and I love them! So helpful to a first time cat owner. 😺
I wish I'd known that they sometimes can't adjust to moves at all. I had 2 cats who I'd hand-raised from 4 weeks old (Brutal). When I did this, and for the first 4 years of their life, I lived in a very quiet rural area. Very few neighbours, very few animals (Quite a few very scary roads, and a bird of prey sanctuary close by). They were indoor cats and loved just watching the outside world.
We moved when my baby was 4 months old (Who they took so beautifully to). And then the problems came. Vet kept saying they were fine but they weren't – Peeing blood, coughing lots, sneezes etc. Finally went to another vet and they said it was stress, so bad at that point it was literally killing them. Our new place was right by a very busy bus stop, heavily popolated and LOTS of dogs all over the place. They heavily avoided windows and would freak out when they heard dogs barking etc. Eventually I had to rehome them to a family friend who lived in a very quiet place too and they improved in under a month. It was deviatating. And if I'd known that could happen I'd have looked at other locations; but I'd always been told that very little phases cats and they adjust easily to things like that. And had certainly never heard of a move making them that dangerously stressed! Tried for over a year to make adjustments for them but nothing was working, and at the point when we finally found a compitent vet, it felt very selfish to have kept them so long. Especially once they recovered so fast in a quieter home.
I like the honesty in this video and great info😻
Mallory, I cannot remember which video it is of yours which I watched and there was a link to purchase really stylish, classy cat products like cat beds etc . Can you so kindly provide the link or just tell me the name and I will search it up. Tks so very much!
Cats are little thieves. They‘ve stolen my heart.
The cats tend not to drink much from a bowl is because of their natural instinct that floating water like a creek is more hygienic than a puddle. This is the reason cats tend to drink from a running faucet, so if you have a cat fountain, they'll get more encouraged to drink and therefore get enough liquid for dry diets, decreasing the risk of kidney problems.
I just got a cat today
Few hours ago I'm happy
She Female 4 month old ❤
Dry food cleans teeth
Where did you get your cat tree with hammock? I like it
Thank you for talking about the 10th point. Having grown attached to my feral cats, it's just the point I wanted to hear. ❤
Thank you for this video. I hope you the list never stop. The information you share is most appreciated❤
5 things i know about cats
PLEASE… Do NOT use clumping litter, especially with kittens, tiny cats! So many cats have actually died – mostly kittens. The "clumping" is all about moisture & when it clumps it hardens, almost like cement in a way. Cats have moisture in their noses & beyond – inside. Kittens are so small that it kills more of them, but also growing/grown cats.
Clumping litter dust doesn't know moist nostrils from moist pee ~ it attracts & sticks to the moisture & it hardens! This can happen in noses & in bronchial tubes, lungs. The dust hardens like cement & I'm sure you can see the problem in that! Some litters claim to be dust-free, but scratching around in box can create dust, so watch out for it at bottom of box.
Clumping litter was made for convenience of humans, NOT health of cats! The thing that makes it clump 8s also what makes it deadly, especially over time, as there's no way to get it back out & it accumulates. Kittens have very tiny nostrils, tubes & lungs & cement in your breathing apparatus is a lousy way to die!
What matters more to you — more convenient scooping, or your kitty's life & breath?? There are good alternatives at pet stores — shredded stuff, like shredded paper, shredded wood pulp, etc. – even litter made from corn cobs. The corn cob bits didn't work well eith my 2 cats at rhe time cuz' they'd eat it, which grossed me out. The cat litter pellets seem to work well if started out with it, but I have rescued cats so 'no go' here.😒
I watch them wander outside & they "do their business" in most any dirt, soil (esp my soft fluffy garden soil!). They only seem to care if there's enuff to cover it after with dirt, sand, or whatever. (Yes, I kinda' stalk my kitties outside (shhh, don't tell them!), but usually just see them when am working in the yard. Bottom line ~ inhaling clumping litter dust is deadly & it's too late by the time you can tell something's wrong. Lousy way & reason for any cat to die!!

I’ll always remember growing up we had a male cat that was always so cold and not affectionate at all then he got really sick and almost passed away but don’t and my mom took such good care of him and when he got well again he was completely changed and was so friendly and loving always wanting cuddles. Little guys near death experience really changed him
I trained my cats to go into their carriers to be fed.
I make vet appointments around their breakfast time, so they “capture“ themselves. I feed them in their carriers when we get home, so they’re less likely to avoid the carriers the next time.
I know what you mean about the worry. I don't have a cat, but my dog will turn 10 this year and I constantly think about how much time I have left with her. Just thinking about the idea that she won't be here one day makes me start crying. I stay in the moment with her like you suggested, but the thoughts just creep back in. Will continue to try. Really enjoyed your video. I would love to bring a cat into my home someday, so I'm starting to research about them now. I've never lived with a cat before. Thanks for your awesome video ! ❤
I give my cats both wet and dry food
I'd say the pellet litter is the worst litter to get.
