The Aliens are afraid that we the humans will blowup planet earth and negatively affect their way of living.
We must be the only intelligent life in the milky way galaxy. It could be that life is common but human intelligence rare. Maybe human intelligence is hard.
Okay, so why is there intelligent life on this planet? It is hard to think that humans are that special, they are part of the Animalia Kingdom, and there are lots of animals living on this planet. The problem is breaking the distance barrier, moving across light years, and that in my opinion will never be broken.
life may be many in the universe but inteligence would be very very rare i say. then there is the vast vast space and travelling across would still require to obey the laws of physics if it is even feasable from the rarest of the rare intelligence being.
Two reasons. I think we are not as intelligent as we think we are and we are not that interesting for them to initiate a contact with us. Or they simply don't care about us, or the zoo hypothesis seems to make sense too as maybe we are too primitive for them and they just observing us from far and waiting for us to reach certain milestone.only after we will b considered intelligent in their categories then they might talk. Until now they are just doing their things and we doing ours. This is my though on this 😂

Hmmm…the equation is based on a premise that life (very complex molecules) assemble themselves as a "natural" process from the raw elements. Hmm… ok show me an experiment (s) that does this! Nothing? So your science is based on no facts sooo… it's a pseudoscience.
One has to take exception to Ray Kurzweil's claim that if there were civilisations we would have detected them by now. So by his own admission if there were Extra terrestrials with some being millions of years ahead of us but they would not be capable of keeping themselves hidden from prying eyes. To Kurzweil they were able to build galactic empires but not the technology to stop from being detected from human technologies. Unlikely. His next statement might be but why would they do that. Immediately he would falsify his own statement that we would have detected them by now. They would do that for the simple reason each species has to earn their stripes to become part of the galactic club likely to be a high bar. Pinging signals into space from your armchair in the hopes of detecting alien life and all that would entail simply isn't good enough.
It is almost certain that a galactic order exists among high end extra terrestrial civilisations to which we are obviously not a part of. And the order would be no interfering among burgeoning civilizations which is exactly what we are. Do we really expect superior life to just come down and show us how to do everything. Nations don't do that with each other why would we expect different treatment. If they did decide to show us how to do everything we could all sit back like hogs enjoying all the best practice they would have to offer never having to do anything ever again. You can easily see why extra terrestrials would have a problem with that. We have been given teasers of alien life with our history of ufo sightings the genuine sightings that is if at all. And that's all we deserve. Well maybe they could land and at the very least verify their existence to us if nothing else you might say. Such a move might have consequences to our long term motivations. We don't even have a human settlement on the moon. It would seem we are very far off indeed from meeting our brothers in the sky.

This Here is a question about space and aliens I cannot think of anybody having asked. WHY should it matter whether they are out there? But even more importantly, why should it bother anybody if actually it turns out humanity never finds any intelligent life anywhere at all? I think it should not because even if something is found it is not as if it would affect the lives of anybody alive today, and if it does, it probably would bring more risks rather than benefits.
Sometimes it seems people who are obsessed with the possibility of aliens are just like some fanatical religious people who cannot even allow for the possibility that their deity/deities of choice do not exist.

Contra Steve Dick, there is ONE CHRISTIAN CHURCH whose doctrines positively ASSERT that Jesus Christ is the Creator of all living planets and the Savior of all the people on those worlds. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (nicknamed "Mormons" because they believe the Book of Mormon is an ancient book of scripture related to the Old Testament the same way the New Testament is related to it). They teach that Christ is Jehovah the Creator, and that he has created and continues to create new habitable worlds as homes for intelligent entities who are the spirit offspring of God the Father where they can become mature beings by becoming embodied and enabled to experience the material universe. And yes, he has ALL THE TIME HE NEEDS to visit each world in turn and teach it's people about their Father's plan for their eternal life.
The most DIRECT SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE FOR INTELLIGENT BEINGS OUTSIDE OUR EARTH is the complex design of living cells and multicellular organisms. Living cells OPERATE using super complicated proteins guided by COMPUTERS using DNA as SOFTWARE. That is not an analogy, it is the observable FACT. Computer codes do not come into being by random chance. Anyone who has written a computer program knows that random changes in the code will BREAK the mechanism. ONLY a carefully DESIGNED program can operate in the real world. Because earth life was clearly designed by an intelligent society, we have strong reason to conclude that they have done this as part of a program to do the same thing on every planet in our galaxy that is susceptible to accepting an ecosystem. Even if that is only 1 in 1,000 planets, that still means millions of worlds in our galaxy seeded with life, with some fraction of them having developed intelligent beings during some several millions of years of LIFE's LIFETIME on that planet, so at least hundreds of civilizations sharing our galaxy right now. Why would they not send us signals? Perhaps because they know there is a scientific theory that allows cheap, fast, and massive travel interstellar, and they don't want to take the risk that we might harm them if we know where they are and what technology they possess.

Can life in 1 whole universe be alien? How is a different life form different from "humans?" Are you completely different from dolphin? Alien is an absurd concept.
Sorry to say but I expected more from Drake and the host of this show. Drake said that "there is nothing special about our solar system", which is obviously a false statement and Drake should know better especially after we discovered so many exoplanets around many stars. What is different about our Solar System is that it has the giants gas planets beyond the rocky planets. All we have found so far point to the opposite, giants plantes orbit close to the stars. And this is an important aspect as in our system giant planets protect the inner rocky planets from a lots of cosmic objects that could have interfere with life evolution or involution far more than it happened.

It's quite sad that Kuhn's idea of religion is narrow and restricted to only the Judeo-Christian paradigm. He does not know that the Eastern ideas of "god" and "religion". The quote marks are to indicate that those who words are also Judeo-Christian-centric. God in the JC sense is a creator god who created the universe, made laws, and judges humans, and then assigns them to heaven or hell. That's a very childish conception of the world. In the eastern way of looking at the world, the universe is not created by "god" but the universe IS god, and every bit of the universe is that god. Therefore everyone and everything has the nature of god. There is no sin, no damnation, no judgement, no salvation. There is no sinner and there is no heaven or hell. If there be extraterrestrials, they too are part of this universe and there is no problem.
The universe expands in all directions since the Big Bang. So a equivalent to our solar system must be in the same radius from the origin tan us. Now imagine the distances regarding the diameter of the imaginary ring where they may be located meaning the ones that have the same age 5.5 billion years around. How many millions/billions years from us? But time has to do with space. No wonder that we can't know nothing about them.
Just 500yrs ago Columbus thought he reached India when he sailed West. Now we are here thinking we can speculate what is 1000s of light years away with our pathetic tools. Our technology is formidable here on earth but in gallactical terms its pathetic. Like using a foot long thermometer to measure the temperature of the entire Pacific!

I wonder why the great apes have not detected more advanced life forms here on earth. Perhaps this means there is no more intelligent species. Or perhaps the technology of the apes is so primitive that they have no way of detecting more advanced life forms.
The sci-fi author says if there are silver guys coming down and disemboweling cattle and kidnapping farmers then they are not intelligent life. OK, then are we intelligent life? Abscence of evidence is not evidence of absence. ScIentists who refuse to acknoweledge the possibility of other intelligent life because they haven't witnessed it, are being unscientific, as no data leaves the proposition as 50/50 – not 100% nonexistent.

Couldnt the answer about the Fermi Paradox just be very simple? Because we are too far apart. What makes scientists think, that any civilisation could ever get around these absurd distances? Maybe that is simply not feasible .

Aliens could actually be angels, i believe, and they are linked in some way to our creation , and our creator. god is actually just that a super being/alien with the powers to create humanity. Even jesus had super being powers in healing and walking on water ect that no other human has ever had or has now. so just like we dont see our god in person or many witnessed angles. Is also maybe why we dont see Aliens as they can take any form or even stay invisible 🤷♀️

Ray's technology argument is BS; if intelligent life exists and they are more advanced than us, we will not know as they will be so well camouflaged that it will be impossible to distinguish them from natural phenomena.
