recently got into horror survival games after playing alien isolation all last year. i just picked up the DS remake while also being new to the series, and i’m loving it so far. just bought the RE remakes too. so right now i’m torn between buying this now or waiting for the price to drop. DLC is dropping so i don’t see them really doing a sale for this anytime soon. someone weigh in their opinion if they want 🙂

Do you know why the industry was against this game? It’s because they were in bed with EA for the dead space series and EA helped to destroy the series by making them make it more call of duty-ish. EA could have come out with a dead space remake a long time ago, but they chose to come out with one almost right on top of Callisto protocol. Now a lot of gamers never played dead space the first one. So what they are going to think is that EA came out with this killer game And all they did was slap a fresh coat of paint on it and put a few more deaths in it and they made Isaac Clark speak and they gonna make millions of dollars off of that, off of Glenn’s work. It was a shit move by EA who is the king of broken ass games And robbing people. I think the lesson was that you don’t try to leave the big leagues and play ball by yourself because we will crush you like a Dorito. I love this game. I also played on the PlayStation five and

This review is 100% bang on!!! Nice work and everything you said about this game is so straight to the point. Can't wait until the DLC and I hope they make The Callisto Protocol 2. This will be a game changer and if this is what they gave us for the first run, wait until they give us the second game with all the feedback and improvements from the first! Can't wait and I want more, more and more.

I knew I was gonna love it, and I absolutely did.
I'm glad I completed it before they released the patch speeding up all the animations and completely watering down the experience.
It would be cool if they made a dlc and through each chapter You can switch through playing as Dani in one chapter that’s trying to rescue jacob and Jacob in one chapter trying to find another way out and rinse and repeat id love to see how different both their combat styles would be and how it would be utilized
7 playthroughs, awesome survival horror game. I thought it was hard on medium, but after playing repeatedly on maximum, I think the difficulty is pitch perfect. Great melee and shooting system that forces you into strategizing when there are more than a couple biophages. Thick atmosphere, great performances from the actors, especially Josh Duhamel. It's a hell of a sci-fi piece of art with unique visual design made from people who did their best at not looking like all the other sci-fi games & movies. The Gamespot's rating is lazy as f***. I love the outlet, but they never gave more than 8 to all The Last of Us games (when a rating is below its technical qualities, it becomes irrelevant). I've been reading reviews in videogame magazines since 1993 and a lot of reviews for this one are just plainly unprofessional. Many complaints boil down to a matter of taste. Some people say it's linear, as if it was a negative by itself. WTF?! It's actually a strength for this one! The Callisto Protocol is a superb survival horror game that demands players to make changes to the way they are used to play. The dodging system seems unintuitive at first, but when it clicked, I wouldn't have any other way. I've read people complaining that you couldn't swipe a lot of ennemies with a swing of the stun baton. I mean, really?! When there are more than 3 ennemies it becomes unplayable?! Really!? Use all the mechanics available (wall spikes, yanking a biophage towards you so you can get rid of it before the next one comes close, hit the one if front of you and shoot the one behind to slow him down, throw them away if needed). I also suggest The Evil Within 2. Give it a shot if you haven't tried it yet. Alien Isolation did get some flack when it came out and it's virtually in the top 10 of every "best horrors games" list now. Callisto will gain some respect with time. Can't wait for the story DLC. I want Striking Distance to succeed! It's an awesome studio. With that many horror games in production right now, it's fantastic to be a gamer. I mean, Dead Space remake (gone gold), Resident Evil 4 remake, Silent Hill 2 remake, Alan Wake 2, Alien franchise games, more Resident Evil news soon (rumors of Resident Evil 1 and Code Veronica remakes), Alone In The Dark reboot, Slitterhead; I bet that after all these releases, Callisto will still feel unique, so kudos to the people behind it!!
even the people that did not like it praised the game for what it was trying to do and the amount of qualty work put into it, even digital foundry voted it as one of the best looking games of 2022.
sadly a bunch of reviewers tried to rush through the game to be the first to review it and gave themself a very hard time and then they wrote the most inacurate daming piece they could, saying it was a terrable game and not to buy it.
sadly there is no penalty for what they have done but i will never trust them again.
Still one of the best current space action horror game. Linear not so much puzzle, straight up brutal gruesome

I think Jacob's story should be continued or concluded in the DLC. I feel like Dani would make a great protagonist of a sequel.
Callisto is the most unfairly reviewed game ever .. Reviews are trash anymore they are paid for their opinions. Callisto is an 8.5!
Gamers: “We want something new”. The Callisto Protocol: “Here you go”. Gamers: “No, I wanted Dead Space, I wanted more of the same”. I’ve heard people compare The Callisto Protocol to The Order 1886 in that it focuses more on looking pretty rather than being a good game but unlike The Order 1886, this game is actually a game with decent gameplay.
I just wish there's so many monsters and bosses to be revealed tho. But it still a great game I hope there's a sequel.

A few DLC ideas: First would be to play as Dani on Europa during the "1st" outbreak and as her on BIP. Second would be to play as a guard on Arcas. I would like to take down that "Leviathan" that was found.
Honestly i'm getting tired of hearing all these nit picks. Half the crowd wanted a Dead Space game & they're mad cuz it's not DS game. The other half are complaints it's too much like DS game.
But i'm personally very pleased with this game both because it's like & also not like DS. It's a great entry to sci-fi horror survival that brings so much what i love about the DS games & tweaks the formula to keep it fresh.
And then we've got all these people who say that this game is too much linear. I don't get this most of the survival horror game is linear. Everything from Resident Evil to DS games are experiences with very few branching paths. So wtf did you all expected & where did those expectations came from ?
Also everyone likes to complain about the combat system but in reality it's actually quite good & appears alot of work into it. Heck it's probably the best combat ever featured in any survival horror game & somehow people people still hate it. Or maybe i'm the only weirdo who sees this game as a great achievement & an awesome game experience.
But TBT, the mostly the complaints i hear about this game are trivial at best. I personally want to see this a franchise succeed so that we can play the expansions & sequels. But if everyone keeps sh!tting on like this for stupid reasons, then it will flop none of less.

My issues isnt with graphics or performance, its the familiarity with nearly every scenario, it feels so much like a dead space game that it leaves you disappointed at the most minor things it couldn't pull off from a game that did it well 15yrs ago. First thing i noticed is the inability to interact with bodies, dead or alive, in ds you could rip an arm off a corpse and use it has a weapon, you could pick up a corpse and inspect the damage. Then there's the complete lack of an actual dodge mechanic, with the system it has now being more of an annoyance in close combat, than its a benefit. Usually backing you into a corner making it hard to tell what's going on. I played on both series x and s and it ran great with the game freezing up only once. I did enjoy the game by for a game trying to be something new they only ended up making a beautiful game lacking on invitations they made 15yrs ago
I'm pissed there's no New Game + upon release. I've played the game 4 times now and I still cannot get the upgrades I want.
I think we're gonna continue where we left off as Jacob but the core is gonna cause extreme hallucinations throughout which will add more to the horror aspect
The game was great. The negativity on this game is coming from reviewers, journalists, and corporations all being in bed with each other. People are benefiting off the negative reviews. It’s almost like they want the game to fail in order to destroy Glen Schofield and Striking Distance studios because they aren’t in bed with the other corrupt publishers, such as, EA.🍷🗿

I understand collisto protocaol is not a bad game and it is a well polish game, good visual, sound, animation, etc. Compare to their previous game such as dead space 1 and 2, as a whole it is bad, after finish the game, I really hope they spent more money on gameplay and story instead of having famous actors as their game character.

Rush to market issues are as old as the hills. Beat the competition’s release date is all that counts. This is like all “news” outlets wanting to be first to break a story. I have just completed my second play through on X box 1 X. It gets a little more do-able the more I understand what I’m doing.
For a dlc idea, I would like to see another perspective of the outbreak in the prison. Play as a different character, a legitimate hardened criminal. Some of you may remember the logs discussing a faction of prisoners hunting and torturing guards during the outbreak. Would love to see more about that.

I loved this game!
It had its up and downs. Your stun baton really never did just that and it took WAY to many swings to kill a biophage. Also having to buy a heavy and light attack for your melee when it should've been standard was stupid. By the end of the game you feel properly leveled but it took too long to get there. 7/10. Schofield will never top Dead Space 2 imho.
