Because of their long backs every one of my dachshunds are taught to not get on the furniture. They learn that I pick them up and I put them down. The reason for this is because even though you have ramps they tend to jump off the furniture anyway and that can cause major problems with their backs. My friend stopped feeding her dogs raw meat due to E.coli and other things that are bad with raw meat. It made one of her dogs deathly sick. I find this dog breed to be the most annoying and useless breed of dog to exist. They bark constantly and are poorly behaved
Nothing lasts long with Datchund.. toys ect… my mini dax goes though any toy. My standard one toys last a while. Chews are hard to find i will try to find those bones. Those woodland coats look really nice.
My mini dax walks on my side but the standard pulls randomly and if he gets too excited then i the mini dax will pull too.
I like to use a hardness better than a collar. I just got a dachshund, and she is 4 years old.

the last product, that muzzle strap leash… we have a dachshund girl mix of soft and wire haired and she tends to pull like crazy on the least and because her main owner suffers from chronic wrist pain, i looked up what might help and these popped up! Unfortunatelly they are also expensive as frick so i just made own one from old harness and oh boy her tendency of pulling is now on the very minimum! Unless she sees a dog she is friend with, then she doesnt care and pulls even with this haltie lmao

I just got a Dachsie pup. He’s about to be 4 mo’s. He’s lovely and a perfect addition to the house. Our current issue is he starts playing nice, then begins to bite, soft at first and then more aggressive and a bit harder. Is this normal from Dachsie pups?

I luck into getting a 3yr old mini doxie and she is my shadow. I love her but I have a question. Has anyone been able to find shoes for them. Her feet get so cold and I have to back her
Had to put my last weenie down a few years ago:( hardest thing ive ever had to do.. Now i have a boy, 2yrs old hes a red piebald dapple #5 and i love him to death. He also loves me to death. A few things i do are:
My bed is off the frame and on the floor to make it easier for him to come n go.
A harness is better for walks too cuz hes stubborn at times and collars choke.
I dont dress him in cold because our walks are short and it doesn't get that cold here in Roseville California anyway. Lastly he loves tennis balls. My last boy loved rocks. My last female loved nothing but food.:)))

Doxies were bread to tunnel in the ground to go after rodents. I suspect that's why they love hiding under blankets.

Great video! I’m glad to see you mentioning Halti Collars. We use one with our Golden Retriever because she is full of energy and strength, and it helps us control her humanely. We’ve never used one on our mini Doxies, but this is a great idea.
I agree with all of this… We haven’t had too many serious issues with our 16 week old black & tan brothers chewing, they do get into things they shouldn’t sometimes but we quickly divert their attention to their chews and toys, we also use bitter apple to keep them from chewing what they shouldn’t and it works well.
Speaking of them burrowing, we got ours tons of blankets and also carpeted cat scratchers that they can get inside of that they love playing in. It’s like they’re getting into a hole.
They also get up in the morning around 7am to go out to potty and go back to sleep for a couple hours also. We also are using collars that so far they’ve done great with.
We’ve used the Gentle Leads on our big dogs for pulling and they’ve been a game changer, but we never had to use them on our Doxie’s. None of them have ever pulled, in fact they usually want to be carried for their walk, lol.
We’re curious about feeding raw, we’ve never done that but want to with our new boys. I’ll be checking out what videos you have about feeding raw.

Another thing about dachshunds is their oral hygiene is really important. They have a tendency to build up tartar very easily. Brushing is recommended and my vet had me get an additive for their water. Jazzy's breath has gotten much better since we started using it. Also, of course, annual cleanings.
They may be strong chewers but their teeth are not necessarily that strong. I used to give mine bones to chew until Rosie got a slab fracture. She had to have the tooth pulled and the vet cautioned against giving them bones. Just something to be aware of. And yes there are small blankets everywhere. They have steps by the couch and a ramp by the bed. Also doxies have a tendency to become overweight so one needs to guard against that. But they are a joy to have in the house.
