Christmas, Easter, birthdays, and many other holidays are pagan. That's a simple fact. But just because JW's are right on this doesn't mean they are right on everything. But I'm curious. For someone who defends modern translations, what's wrong with the translation of the JW's bible? Is it not just another modern translation? On one hand you're okay with people using many different versions, but on this hand there's something supposedly wrong now with the JW's bible? Weird.
So I'm not at all religious.
But… Can we really argue with some of the things JW is taught? Every bible version, including the Mormons, is a butchers version of the one that came before it. A lot of the Christian holidays are adapted from Pagan traditions.
Both of these are accurate things to teach, but in saying that, JW will twist it to make themselves look good regardless
A lot of that is not wrong though…. Christmas and Easter (the way it's celebrated with eggs and bunnies) are pagan. I'm a Christian who have done my research on our history. There are pagan gods who had a trinity which is the base for the Christian trinity. As a Christian I know that the bible says that not even jesus knows the date when the second coming will happen. If only the father knows, it does mean there is argument against the trinity and that God, jesus and the holy spirit are separate beings. If only Christians had critical thinking and were spirit led instead of following what church leaders tell them like you are trying to blame on JWs. I'm a Christian, not a JW but I can see the hipocracy.

I don’t agree with JW’s but most modern day holidays are rooted in paganism. Pagan holidays were fused with Jewish and Christian holidays after the Roman Empire converted to Christianity.

Anyway, Easter is derived from an old Germanic word meaning to rise and life begins at conception so both Easter and Christmas are Christian over here particularly in observance for sure.

Well, when you really get into the roots of Christmas, you find that it doesn’t originate from anything biblical. Again, researching Easter, it may be close to the time of Passover but it doesn’t have anything to do with our Messiah death, burial, and resurrection. The word Easter derives from Ishtar, Ashtaroth, Isis, and has other names all corresponding to a goddess of fertility. Birthdays are just a way to honor ourselves. JW’s aren’t really wrong about these things. Btw I am not a JW, I attend a nondenominational Christian church. It has been my great honor to put countless hours into researching this stuff to do my best to honor God and my Savior! Don’t take my word for it though, dig deep into it yourself, study to show thyself approved!

I was raised as a Jehovah witness until I was 16 years old. My whole family except for my dad. Looking back on how insulated we were and what we were told it looks to melooking back like a cult. I’m so grateful that I met Jesus, and he freed me from that place. The best gift I could’ve ever gotten.
