TSMC has successfully conducted a trial chip production of its 2nm N2 process with a 60% yield rate. A new report backed by supply chain insiders claims that TSMC has achieved better than anticipated results with its trial production run at its Baoshan facility in Hsinchu County, Taiwan.
Following the successful trial production run, TSMC is set to begin mass-producing its 2nm chips at its facility in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, next year. Apple and Nvidia are expected to be amongst the first companies to procure chips fabbed on TSMC’s N2 node.
Previous reports suggest that the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro models will feature 2nm chips developed on TSMC’s process, but the latest news claims we’ll see the 2nm chip debut on the iPhone 18 Pro in 2026.
Per rumors, chips fabbed on TSMC’s 2nm process are likely to cost twice as its 4 and 5nm chips, with rumored pricing of $30,000 per wafer.
