I watched it last night. I was so happy about the film and they absolutely nailed it out the park with making us fans happy.
Actually connecting the dots with previous films and seeing the world built by Waylon crop.

This movie went way overboard on nostalgia, fan service, camp. First half is great. But then it started getting too dense with callbacks, re-hashes, and vulture jobs. Killed a lot of my enjoyment, which is tragic with how well it started.
Just watched and it’s was amazing. They nailed the original architecture with the set pieces. Terrifyingly original but a great nod to the great previous movies and the game alien isolation. 😊I’m blown away. So satisfying. I was worried it would suck but it was great.
Do you know there is an Alternative Cut for this movie named "Alien Romulus [Edição-CSJ]", that edition has less references to the other movies, less deepFake and less endings.

I enjoyed it more than Prometheus. And covenant. It’s a great film behind alien 3 directors cut. And alien 4. Worldbuilding was amazing. But lost steam.
I didn't buy the final act. How did Rain not catch that Kay has injected herself with the black goo before she was placed in cryosleep? And what happened to the rest of the canisters?? I would hope Rain was sensible enough to throw them away after the whole ordeal, but the movie seems likely to imply that it's kept on the ship whether intentionally or not…
Something else I would love to see is James Cameron jump back in.
Get the Earth: didn't we see that in Aliens versus predator? Those two films are in the alien Timeline, Those two in were present day.
It has everything of all the five films however this feels like an ALIEN film where the 2 prequels didn't
My first experience with ALIEN was ALIENS in 1986 back in July as a 9year. I would see the first movie on VHS the following day
The movie is garbage! Nothing but a copy of all previous movies, the director can't do anything original just mimics everything thinking that's directing. He's not a talented director, his previous movies are also horrible!
The age of the characters was internally consistent. If they were teenage miners or company scientists, I'd have had issues, but they weren't and I didn't find myself thinking 'why are they all so young' because it was explained.
Also, the androids put the company in the room with us. It benefits the franchise they chose to include them imo. Sorry – artificial persons..
An alien isolation movie could possibly outright be more scary than the first one especially seeing it walk like a human hearing its thumping steps on the ground instead of crawling like most of the films have it seeing the alien walk around like a human instead of a slow methodical movement. Also they should keep the grey colour of the alien instead of the black we all know

I watched it today. It was excellent. I have always ranked the films as 1. Aliens 2. Alien 3. Alien 3 then the rest. Now with Romulus, I think it takes the #2 spot. It was just overall very well done and I thought that the actor that played Andy was amazing.
I liked the Alien iconography in this film, especially in the beginning and throughout.. Probably too many formulaic parallels.. Although I appreciated your point on rebooting the Franchise..
I was generally happy with, Prometheus, although I agree about there being too many characters and not enough nuance.. Ergo directors edits, cuts deleted scenes.. I really appreciated your comments on the prequel endeavours being bold despite redrafts, and rewrites.. For me, it was one of the last chapters of the Alien novel, where Ash eluded to the Engineers.. I read the book age 11, and I was then hooked by those mysteries.. It stopped being briefly about the Alien, and we started to see the horror mystery deepen, seeing this other plot potentially open up.. And then nothing for 33 years… I appreciate it's difficult when you leave a story for so long, plus when they attend these meetings discussing budget, production, and profitability… I did like roughly where Prometheus went, and Alien covenant.. Will there be an Alien awakening….?

i stayed away from any spoilers of this as i wasn't able to go to the cinema, today was the release on VOD so now I'm catching up on vids
there are plenty of refences from across the whole franchise not just the movies but the games and books, a lot of the refences fit great in and there not in your face, there more reverential although there are one or two that were a little on the nose,
i wouldn't say its the best Alien movies, but its certainly up there
i wrote this in the intro on the video but you brought up basically everything i was thinking
i keep coming back to the first question that came to mind during my first watch: why did they take the cargo hold with them into orbit? that craft was meant to haul ore from the mines to processing, so carrying a bunch of extra weight beyond normal range makes no sense, it would benefit from being lighter for the launch. anyway i saw it twice and realized there weren't any scenes i was excited to see again. i wanted to like this, i really did. it wasn't written in a way that required thought from the audience
