I am currently sitting on the couch with my cat on my lap.
He sat next to me and gazed at me longingly until I put a blanket on my lap, then he crawled right on and into a ball.
He doesn't do this to anyone but me and my partner.
He also screams if he can't find us. We have gone to bed and not carried him there out of exhaustion before and he will suddenly become aware of our disappearance and walk around screaming until he finds us or one of us goes out and brings him to bed.
I don't know what that is if it's not love.

Cat owners absolutely do know the body language of their cats. And comparing cats to dogs? They are two different animals. How can you ever learn anything about felines if you are using canines as the baseline of studies for cats?

I cant believe people even question if cat actually love their owners, my cat shows up on my bed in the morning and does the cutest and most expressive love roll, acting as happy as any dog ever.
Dogs have personalities but they’re just so much more likely to show love physically with people, especially strangers lol.
Unlike dogs, cats give back what you are willing to give. If you want an independent pet who just stops by for dinner and a few rubs, then you can have that. If you want a devoted companion who can predict your every move, then you can have that too. They type of cat owner you are, is the type of cat you will have

I always had this idea that it takes a special brand of personality to like cats. They're only half tamed. You don't want and you can't dominate them anyway. They're more like independent friends. It take a long time to enter their inner sphere of confidence but once you're there … oh boy it's pure bliss. A strange animal !

This isnt a joke…my cats sleep by me, follow me, cry for pets, get mad when I leave and won't go outside unless I'm right by them. Clingy or love there humans best friend. U just gotta earn it and it takes a long time but once u get it they are beyond loyal with love

Cats aren't loyal doesn't matter how much you feed them. I saw one guy whose cat runaway because the doors were open even though he had his cat for six years straight.
It would be interesting to study if the cats enjoy sticking to their human simply due to the human being something familiar to the cat in an otherwise unfamiliar space, in a way that any other inanimate object also could be.
For example, what would happen if you put the cat in that same, unfamiliar space, but also put their favorite chair in the middle of it? Would the cat react more or less to their chair as they would to their human?

I write this while being squished/cuddled by 2 cats so I’m definitely biased. It drives me CRAZY when people say “cats are mean” or “cats don’t care about their people” like obviously you’ve never had a respectful interaction with a cat because when you meet them on their own terms they have so much love.
