We play Stock Pouce Catch Kill…. I fold a blanket long ways and lay it across my bed… I use their favorite wand toy and wave it around the room…. Then suddenly I put the toy partially under the blanket and very slowly pull it underneath… Wow they go full attack mode…. I mix in some time letting the wand toy fly through the air and let it land at the top of a tall scratcher… They leap and cling to the scratcher to take the toy down…. We play every evening… My favorite time of the day 😺😊😺
I designed and made a combination half harness and collar. The collar keeps the cat from backing out of the harness part, combo belly strap and collar. The collar doesn't choke him, because it isn't the actual part keeping the cat under control.
I have a semi feral cat that’s been hiding from me for two weeks now. He only played with the toys I got him when I put extra catnip in them. He growls and backs himself into a corner of if I get too close to him. He won’t even come to me if I sit in the floor next to him and put treats in my hand for him. How should I go about getting him to be more active? He has his meal schedule down.
My male 8-year old cat only wants to play in the mornings, right after he wakes up and eats. I only wish he would like to play in the afternoons because then I'm fully available to him, I try to switch him to afternoons but he's locked into mornings. Do you need to feed them after playtime? Meaning, you only play tied to feedings and not just randomly throughout the day? I have the difficulty now that i adopted a new cat. The old i used to play first and he got his food. BUT with the new one, as he completely takes over playtime, and wants to eat the former’s food, this is tricky. Also because even if i close them away and try separate playtimes, the old/former cat gets distracted and doesn’t care about playing. Shall i just have independent playtimes, AFTER they had their breakfast/dinner/night time food?

This is one of the best advice you can get. I'm a new cat owner and did intensive research before buying a cat. My ankle is on the healing end of it breaking and I still do this. Making it go through tunnels and over furniture even hiding it sparks joy in my cat. He isn't food motivated though 😂 just want play time then cuddles. Though when you do this it becomes routine my cat definitely let's me know 3 times a day exactly same time when to play 😂 so cute!
My kitten wants all day play, she even uses my older cats tail as a toy. She's an orange tabby ragdoll mix. Super energetic, wish I had children to tire her out.
Pro tip? Carry around your feather toy, letting it drag behind you while you go about your business picking up your house and sporadically do some ✨very cool✨ rhythmic gymnastics moves just to shake it up a little bit. You basically become a wandering animal for them to follow around. Two in one solution.

My kitten used to play all the time. Then we went aga for three weeks and left him in charge of my sister and another girl that lives with us. When we came back, we saw that he never tries to play and just wanted to leave the house all the time, coming back in the evening for food and sleep. Me and my Kitty used to play chase. Either she'd chase me or I'd chase her and the goal was, at least to me, to touch the other then the roles would flip. It was pretty fun, kind of like playing "It" (aka tag) again. She also loved paper planes, me rolling objects past her and of course she loved the stick and feather type toys. I miss playing with her.
My cat doesn’t play with any toys 😭 she just runs away when I try to play with her either by throwing toys or using the string. I’ve only ever seen her play with the tower where they can push the balls around in a circle. I have 2 for her, but I’d love to be able to interact with her via playtime.

Play with your cats, in plural. A cat should always have cats to play with as well as toys. My cats love their toys and to chase each other lol.

I just adopted a 3 month old a couple days ago and I've been trying to apply everything you preach. I've broken her food down into 4 meals, and since she has to take meds by oral syringe twice daily, I mix in a squeeze treat since she HATES the taste of the meds and isn't too keen on being held quite yet. I try to play before meals if I can, but it seems like she has energy 24/7 lol so I have a bunch of 5 minute sessions rewarded with pets and together time
I play fetch among other things with mine!
My cat lost interest in the fishing rod toy and I hate to admit that I am tired of trying to keep him entertained. I even tried to get him automated toys to play with but they were not very good and thus they don't entertain him.
