Why does everyone think fantasy is full of turgid dialogue? Not even the most serious of fantasy series are like that. There is humor, and casual dialogue. Chris' Bard sounds like what I'd expect a Bard of the Sword Coast to sound. This is a world of magic and monsters everywhere, so a certain amount of casual danger dialogue is expected.
