So video game movies are picking up now, we have the Sonic movies to thank for that. So now the blue blur's rival is cashing into the scene, so this opens a myriad of questions. With video game movies catching on; will we see a Metroid movie? Back in 2016 or so Sly Cooper was slated for a movie but nothing ever came of it. So what video game franchises now will have movies or animated series? How would a modern F-Zero movie play out in an animated format? How would a Star Fox animated series proceed outside of "A Fox In Space"? How would a Devil May Cry movie or Megaman X movie be done? And while on topic, what if indie games got into this mix? Like Shantae and Freedom Planet. And of course we know of Five Nights At Freddy's supposedly having a movie. Legend Of Zelda has more potential as a series instead of a movie. Jak and Daxter having a cinematic universe along with Ratchet and Clank would make even Disney sweat a bit. Ace Combat could have a cinematic universe if they get the animation studio behind Eureka 7 to do its animations for dog-fighting they would be set. War Hammer 40K and Mech Warrior / BattleTech is brimming with lore just begging for an episodic series. Fallout and Elder Scrolls respectively having animations done by Genndy Tartakovsky would be the stuff of legends and you know it. Feel free to list down video game series and franchises you believe will make amazing movies / animated series both in 3DCG and traditional animation. Lets make this a thing.

I have a feeling this will be successful just like the Sonic movies. I just hope the potential Mario sequels avoid the release years of the future Sonic sequel(s.)
Visually, this movie looks phenomenal. Storywise? It's probably going to be extremely standard. Which is fine for Mario but the issue is that the run time is 85 minutes. So with all the elements at play here it seems like it's going to be way too bloated. I want to be proven wrong but that's what I'm getting from this.
One thing this film is doing better than Sonic’s is that it fully immerses in Mario’s world, while we only get glimpse of Sonic’s world. But I do hope we visit it in a future film.
If donkey kong doesn't smoke, This movie is saved! Only thing better would be anything interesting in the meantime. Anyone else?
