❤ I have had 2. Still have my 2nd one she is 11 1/2. Great dogs. Drooling can be a turnoff but it never bothered me. Both of mine are xtra large. Allergies with both and last has untreatable ear infections we manage.

Where our house is we can see the park and the backyards of the houses lining the park. We noticed a bloodhound would walk down the street and stop in front of our house looking towards our backyard, because we had rabbits and she smelled them. After noticing her and watching her we realized she would climb over her fence when her family went to work and then return home before they came home from work. She walked the neighborhood the same way every day. She was funny. I don’t know if they ever knew she would go for walks all day while they were at work.

I had 2 Bassett hounds and keeping those ears clean is a challenge. Not to be mean but they also stink.
Got to admit it; they are slobberboxes. However, if you diligently keep their ears clean, they will throw significantly less slobber on your walls. They get fungus in their ears and the only way to scratch the itch is to shake their heads back and forth rapidly. Also, if they have a fenced yard, they will do their business at the far end of the yard, as far from the ack door as possible. They have their own little grave yard, that is considered sacred territory. Don't trespass on their sacred ground and you never need to worry about dragging in dog poop into the house.

Had a neighbor who bred this sweet breed every 3 years; each mom had two litters; max. He really cared for the pups. The puppies trip over their own ears. It's the cutest thing. They're absurdly loyal too. Never heard one growl but do remember thinking they acted like giant baby ducklings behind their momma when teaching them tracking.
