What’s your bucket list photo dream? Let me know! Did you already accomplish it?
were do u find background music ?
Doing some research for a Svalbard 2026 trip (special treat for my 40th!) and this is blowing my mind. Still trying to decide on the time of year or month but im leaning towards may (also considering October or march)
As a Norwegian, it's kinda funny hearing you pronounce svalbard and longyearbyen.
Beautiful video and photos. I loved watching it climb out of the water and shake it off.
Absolutely beautiful shots of the polar bear! My two bucket list photos are a gray wolf in the snow and an eagle in flight.
That's really cool!
Thanks for bringing us along. You brought a tear to my eye with your excitement!! Congratulations.
it felt like, healing your inner child dream.
Sounds like an epic trump. Now I gotta do it someday! DARN YOU! Haha. You also pronounce "walrus" really interestingly.
What a great trip to be a part of. Wonderful shots!
Wow.. what a great experience! And thank you for sharing with us. When you said this was your greatest experience (so far), literally made me tear up. On a side note, your editing is impressive!
You so deserve it. Your work is much joy for many of us. I am so glad you made it.
Wow, just wow!
Awesome Video 🤩
This video brought tears to my eyes! Incredible! So much thanks!
Omg so amazing, I felt like I was right there with you 🙏❤️
I’m so happy for you!! You do so much to encouragingly share your knowledge so we can all enjoy making our own art, and you so deserve to have had such a dream experience. What phenomenal shots!!
❤❤❤❤❤ amazing
I applied to be a UKAHT filmmaker in Antarctica, but my application was not accepted. I wanted it so much. When I was watching this video, I always had an image in my mind of the project I would do there, maybe next time it will be possible.
Hi Simon, congratulations on your bucket list experience with the polar bears and the fantastic photos you took!
I've noticed, that you changed your long lens from an EF 500 to a RF 600. Could you say something about the difference. I'm thinking about buying a supertelephoto lens but I'm not sure if I should go the cheaper way and buy a used EF lens or if I should invest in a new RF with a better autofokus especially for wildlife. If you could put it in one of your videos I'd be glad. No matter which topic – I watch them all anyway… 😉
Loved this video, thank you
Oh man.. This had to be the coolest experience. Congratulations on these amazing shots! I'm sure you will enjoy looking back to them 🙂
What is your editing software? What model drone did the photographer use? Thanks!
Hi Simon – I'm wondering if a polarizing filter would be useful for the Svalbard trip on a 180-600 telephoto? TY.
You really should do an alaska trip sometime
Wow. It looks like such an exciting trip and wonderful place.
Very interesting to see some birds that I have seen last week on Helgoland in Germany of course in a total different Environment. Like the Kittiwakes, Eiders and the Fulmer.
Again, wow. Looks like a very special place!
GREAT pics! Also i love how you allways focus on being educational.
BUT would love it if you could put your setting next to the pictueres, shutter speed etc.
So amazing to see the polar bears in the wild. How beautiful. Cerro Torre would be amazing to see. So many beautiful places in the world. Thanks for sharing, Simon. Awesome channel. 🙂
I reconsidered going to Svalbard after learning that guides had to carry guns with them. That poses an ethical dilemma that each of us will handle differently, but for me it was better to give up on the idea than to pursue it knowing that a bear might have to be shot due to my presence. I read that such episodes are very uncommon, but the threats that the species already faces are so substantial that it feels like the right decision to me.
You can actually defend yourself against a polar bear with a two-by-four. Especially if you are a mad Russian.
Apparently, polar bears don't like being beaten with two-by-fours by small hominids shouting insults at them.
Wow, what a great video! Congrats on the very special trip.
Hey Simon I just picked up the r6 mark ii and I’m looking to buy a wide lens for milky way/ star photography. I’m looking at the ef-m 22mm f/2 stm or the rf 16mm f/2.8 stm as a cheap entry level lens, which one would you recommend or have any other suggestions? You have helped me so much through my photography journey, I love your videos and wish you the best!
This is sooooooooo well-done. Congrats Simon!
That Walrus encounter at 6:23 is spectacular! There is actually some nice soft direct light, and the Walrus is out on the ice by herself, so you can get clean still images without parts of other Walruses cluttering up the composition. What a great opportunity!
After watching this, you are not going to get away!
You are going to have to put me in your duffel bag!
Simon, I felt your excitement. This is a superb video , you nailed it my friend. Excellent images. I don't know my favorite. That first shot of the walrus, outstanding. And what can I say about the polar bears. WOW. Thanks for taking us along.
amazing sights and images from this adventure, totally green with envy. Now we are living back in Australia I want to travel out of the urban environment and try to (hopefully a little differently) capture the awesome landscapes this country has to offer, before heading out on more international city trips.
Simon, this is some of the best footage and images of yours to date. Absolutely incredible and I’m glad you finally fulfilled your lifelong goal of photographing polar bears. Thank you for sharing this video, it was so heartwarming and inspirational 😊
Hi Simon – absolutely gorgeous video. We're going on an expedition cruise to Svalbard next July and I'm right now researching what photo gear to take as it will be my first digital camera. I've honed in on either the Canon R6ii or R7 – BUT what I'm most interested in is what lens/lenses did you use on your trip? What's the largest telephoto you used and would a zoom make sense too? Do I need more than 800mm? I saw your comment about holding steady anything larger than the 600mm on the zodiac is tough… TY for your feedback.
Great video, Simon! I have a question: can you make a video about how to build a website using squarespace?
Simply stunning! Your enthusiasm is wildly infectious and utterly inspiring.
I don't know how to ask this without it sounding like an attack, but it's not an attack. I see these trips to view and photograph polar bears and there is always an armed guard there to protect the people. I understand that. But what I have trouble with is the fact that these tourists are putting the polar bear in harm's way by being there. If the bear attacks, then it will be shot. But if the people weren't there to begin with, the bear wouldn't need to be shot. How is this in the bear's interest?
Excellent vidéo! Wow!
I used to hunt Polar Bears. We would cut a hole in the ice then open a can of peas. We would place the peas around the hole in the ice. When a Polar Bear came to take a pea we would kick him in the ice hole.
Just found out about this guy and I'm loving the vids and the photography so fare 📷👍
