On the switch, this game is impressive! On the new gen consoles….
Not only are you not overselling it; I saw in a dev interview that they actually built it around making sure it ran well on the Switch version (b/c Sega really wanted the Japan base & everyone over there has a Switch)

I went ahead got bought this for my Playstation. Almost finished and I just have to say, this is my most favorite sonic game I've played. Sonic Adventure was my most favorite, but Frontiers hits all of the different sonic gameplay variations and I love that. I'm very happy with this game!

I love Sonic Frontiers' control customization options. Personally, I started in the experienced Sonic player/fast mode, which literally just seems to max out Sonic's top speed and bounce options to 100; that's it. If you start using the "new Sonic player" option it simply sets both of these options to 0/100… and it sucks. But it can simply be changed in the options by using those two sliders without having to start a new game.
From there I left Sonic's start speed at 50, set the camera speed to 75 (a bit faster than the default 50, but not too fast), and all of his other movement speed options were maxed out at 100. And last, I disabled load time training and tips/notifications (not only are they useless, they mostly just seem to tell you to enter training…).
And finally… if anyone plays this on Xbox Series X or PS5, don't forget to try out 60 FPS mode! 4K is default, and I tried them both, but once I saw the improvement of 60 FPS, and considering this is a Sonic game after all I haven't looked back.
All of these options, plus the leveling up system in general, adds up to some amazing character customization options.
I'm getting pretty decently leveled up and playing with the idea of setting Sonic's base boost speed to somewhere between 20-50. I don't think I'm quite there yet, but going from normal speed to 100%, while cool, is pretty jarring and extreme… I'm thinking about using Sonic's acceleration option to give him a little boost at first and then smoothly but gradually increase speed to max.

Hey Sunbro. I’ve been playing Sonic Frontiers for about 5-6 hours total now on the Switch, and the game is pretty great so far. I did notice the pop in you talked about. It’s really noticeable when looking at the grass. I understand the limitations of the Switch, but maybe Sega could improve the graphics a little bit. I’ve been a huge Sonic fan since Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis.
As for graphic wise get the oled switch and play it on handheld mode. I bet it will look amazing
