This is cataplexy not narcolepsy. Which can be totally separate from narcolepsy or could have Type 1 narcolepsy which is the narcolepsy with cataplexy
As being someone who has Narcolepsy it sucks you are miseducating people. Narcolepsy is not defined as falling asleep when experiencing extreme excitement. In addition, what your dog is experiencing is Cataplexy which is a symptom of Narcolepsy.
On another note, I love the patience you display for him and wish you both the best!
Omg I just can’t…😂😊❤️
I just went down a rabbit hole of narcoleptic dogs because of some dumb Reddit post about Rusty the Daschound and now I’m obsessed.
Too fat. Too lazy.
Not narcolepsy it's a side effect of it called catalepsy. He's completely awake and cognitive just can't move.
He's got a good home awesome dog
Cbd and a vitamin D supplement will help
I wouldn't be able to handle this sort of disability. I'm a calm person, but you'd still have to be on guard about everything you do. Like, can he choke if he swallows right before passing out or is it an automatic thing to continue the swallow once unconscious? So many questions on how to live.
Your description is completely inaccurate. This is cataplexy, the sister disease to narcolepsy. When your body sleeps it paralyzes itself so you don’t act out your dreams. People with cataplexy have intrusions of that paralytic affect during waking hours, triggered by emotion. Not everyone with narcolepsy has cataplexy. But almost everyone with cataplexy has narcolepsy. I have narcolepsy with cataplexy. Narcolepsy is falling asleep at inappropriate times due to chronic severe sleep deprivation. People with narcolepsy never get deep restorative sleep, and are in a constant state of extreme sleep deprivation. The human body can only go so long without sleep before it will force a sleep cycle. Just so you know, when you have cataplexy, you are fully awake, you just have a total loss of muscle tone. Notice his eyes are open?
Poor guy, at least he’s a happy pupper!
Wake up baby… baby….. wakeeeeeee upppllll.
I say that's more cataplexy brought on by being excited
He is so cute, guess his owner can tell when he really likes a treat or someone.
My friend one time slammed his fuсking head on his keyboard, and was really scared to wake up with blоod all over his face. It's not cute
This is both sad and cute
He has Cataplexy.
Cataplexy
Where did all the food go? Buried in the blanket and he simply can't find it???
Wow–So debilitating. This poor pup is totally at the mercy of this Obnoxious Disorder…
