Is Sonic X Shadow Generations Actually Remastered?

I 100% agree. I love shadow generations, but the fact that there are practically no QOL changes (such as the air boost being dependent on player input rather then where sonic is facing) and the game looking the game. I bought the original sonic generations specifically to compare the 2 graphically but massively dissapointed by the lack of change. but, if its the reason why shadow generations is so good then i don't mind at all

I still think this remaster is just pointless, I already own sonic generations on the series s for backwards compatible and it would make no sense for me to buy it again just for shadow generations🤦🏽‍♂️, they should re release shadow generations and keep the two games separate so that way we’re not wasting $50 just for that reason

The graphics have been slightly improved and the colors are brighter. (That's about it)

They are probably comparing this version to the Xbox 360 and ps3 version

SEGA needs a new or updated game engine for Sonic games like Astro Bot 2024 all of sonic games looks so boring!

hi, commenting after the launch of the game. i've played the original generations on my xbox one x, and i am disappointed when i say that the generations "remaster" looks exactly the same. honestly such laziness from sega imo, they had the very easy opportunity to make the game look better, and they didn't. the shadow content is very good looking and fun, but the devs and sega shouldn't have been so lazy about this "remaster." really disappointing.

So basically this is like when Nintendo released Mario 3D World + Bowsers Fury. Never needed to call it a remaster.

I love Generations, I'm happy to play it again more (A small amount of) new content. I played for hundreds of hours on the original release, and must have bought it cheap on PC at some point because I already had it on steam. Even so, its been a couple years, I'm perfectly happy to play it again with the altered cutscenes and writing, the chao stuff, etc.

But I'm being realistic: I paid for the Shadow Generations. I basically already own the Sonic Generations side of the game. The additional features could have easibly been a 5 dollar dlc, or even a patch update to the original.

As much as Iove Shadow Generations, the sonic side is a bit pointless for those of us who have already played generations to death. Does that mean I think Sonic x Shadow Generations is overpriced? Not necessarily. £45 for a game in this day and age is really cheap, compared to these £70+ titles releasing. For the length and quality of the content in Shadow Generations, £45 honestly feels about right.

And if you didn't already own Generations on PC, then its an amazingly valued bundle. One of the best value games based on price released in years honestly because Generations was a solid 9/10+ game. Getting it basically for free with a brand new great game is amazing. Its just that for the rest of us, the value isnt QUITE as good.

Personally, I thought the game was ahead of it's time when it originally released on older hardware. I thought the game looked beautiful graphically back then and I don't think it really needed much improvement, but that's just my opinion. I'm actually in awe of the animation that Shadow has in his story. The cinematics, the cutscenes, everything. They really took their time and added some really amazing animations in places that it didn't matter, but definitely adds just that little bit more detail and I love it. The follow-through after that power kick was so good and then Shadow falling back into the road and stumbling into a roll back onto his feet is absolutely 😚🤌 chefs kiss. And Shadow looks extremely detailed. You can see his quills and even where the red quills part from the black. It's so good. I still think Sonic running through white space seems very lifeless and stiff. The way he just runs and comes to a stop and just stands there is very awkward to me, but this notion of "Sonic fans aren't allowed to criticize sonic games because game development hard" is absolutely toxic and we need to stop it. Everyone is entitled to form their own opinion and discuss the things they dislike as much as the things they like about a game. As long we are all enjoying the game for what it is, who cares. You'll notice that despite the criticisms people have, no one is saying they hate the game or that it's a bad game. The general census is highly positive and we should be allowed to discuss the few nitpicks we have. We should be grateful that Sonic Team are one of the few devs that actually listen to us and use our feedback to improve whereas other game devs say "how dare you say our game is bad or broken. We worked hard on it and there's nothing we would ever change about it"

I noticed there is graphic improvement some background assets like water in green hill have way more texture movements and so on making it look better yes it's not much but it is a difference from the 360 version

I would assume it would be an upgraded game engine. Sonic generations (original) used hedgehog engine 1 and forces used hedgehog engine 2 so I'd assume the game would use hedgehog engine 2

So glad someone else sees this. My theory is sega is using the old game to justify their new game being so short. Then the fanboys just lap it up

If you were addicted and played og sonic generations over and over again like me on a 360, you would notice that they change what the characters say in the game, but thats pretty much it.

Now that the game is out, I will confirm that there are virtually no perceivable graphical or performance improvements to the Sonic Generations base game.
