While I do understand the concerns of Rockstar employees, using “leaks were bound to happen anyway” as an excuse is just invalid. It’s kind of like buying a Ferrari in New York but when the delivery guy goes to back it off the bed of the truck, he ends up ripping the front bumper off and says “It was bound to happen anyway with the amount of pot holes in NY.” Just because leaks have the potential to happen whether you’re in the office or at home doesn’t mean that it’s a valid counterpoint. Both the September 2022 leaks and the less major leak supposedly caused by Aaron Garbut’s son could be contributed to the disadvantages of working from home. In Garbut’s case, he got unlucky as his son shared info on GTA VI with his friend who ended up leaking it while the September 2022 leaks were caused by a kid gaining access to to a Rockstar employee’s group chat and pretending to be a fellow employee. Like another commenter said, the first leak was the warning sign that fortunately didn’t fuck anything up as the supposed leaker said they had gained access to both GTA V and VI’s source codes which would be enough for me to tell everyone to get their asses back in the office while the second leak which may not seem that major was the last straw for Rockstar as that was directly caused by working remotely and with less than a year left before the planned 2025 release date, Rockstar doesn’t want anything else to happen.
