Do yourself a favor and don't come into this game thinking it'll feel like Hollow Knight. It might be a metroidvania but it's much closer to Sekiro in feel.
Great game but a tough SOB.
extremely good alternative for Hollow Knight. I admit it. However boring conversations and empty storytelling are the minus of the game. Parry is so satisfying. I give this game 8/10. Hollow Knight is for me 9.5/10 . Basically it's the best metroidvania after HK released. I am so hopeful about Crowsworn and i belive it will be a flag bearer of HK when it appears.

I've played Hollow Knight and completed main story. Probably the hardest game I've completed. Also played Ender Lilly which I loved.
My question is: is this game easier/ more forgiving than HK? I think I'd enjoy it but only if it's not insanely hard

I tried playing it on Xbox but the game won’t even load past the title screen.
Bought this the other night on steam. Played it for the first time today for nearly 2 hours. It's incredible everything about it's incredible. The level design the music, the story, the gameplay the gameplay loop the Parry not that difficult to do If you mess up you still get credit, The enemy design the game is so good. This is my game of the Year 2024 all day. I also picked up metaphor last night and I haven't played that yet so that might also be in that conversation. Completely different game though.
Dont know why but AA metroidvania’s like this,Laika Aged Through Blood and Deaths Gambit really didnt click with me…Something is missing or maybe its the art style and thats where Hollow Knight comes out as a masterpiece..its still unchallenged with Ori in a close second
Most overrated game of 2024 is much more fitting of a title.

Just started playing a day ago and I’m loving it. It is frustratingly difficult at times but I know when it’s my error. It feels really good to do well in this game, and there’s so much to each area I’ve been to so far. The artstyle is so pleasing too!

the characters a bit hard to see.
From what I know, Red Candle Games was under a lot of fire from Chinese people due to one of their previous games, Devotion, because there was a poster in the game depicting Xi Jinping as Winnie the Pooh. There was so much hate that the game is no longer on Steam and only the soundtrack remains. I just wanted to mention this as this could have influenced the game's popularity. This also could've been a big reason as to why it wasn't on Game Awards. Honestly, it wouldn't be surprising as Game awards is kinda BS. Take what I said with a grain of salt as there is no hard evidence.
Gave it a try on Game Pass and I'm enjoying it!
Don’t buy this in ps4 it literally has a bug where it will crash every time once you get to a certain area

If you're just diving to metroidvania and haven't played any souls game specifically Sekiro, you'll be having a hard time with this game.
It's absolutely fantastic! I can't wait to put more time in to it. So far I give it a 9.25/10.
Great game but the big problem with all metroidvanias is objectives. It's so difficult knowing where you're supposed to go in these open world side scrollers. I loved the story of nine sols but man if you Soto playing for a few days and come back you will have 0 idea of what your objective is and where you're supposed to go…
PSA: DO NOT BUY ON PS4.
Game is unplayable. Once you hit a certain zone the game starts crashing constantly when switching zones, ultimately culminating in a full soft lock at the cortex. All exits will cause crash including teleport to pavilion.
Sony is also denying refunds so unless they patch it in the next few weeks, we could see it unplayable into the new year.
Again, do not buy this trash on PS4, it’s unplayable garbage.
I've beaten Sekiro and Hollow Knight. I just started DS3 so I'm circling back to this for sure
Crashes regularly on ps4. Can't currently progress past a story encounter because it will crash afterwarda every time.
