My neighbor have a couple of cats that often are outside when i come from work, they generally dont like extra attention and love to hide and not get caught. They generally mind themselves unless they need something. One time i came and it was sitting in front of the door, i proceded to my house but this time i turned around and waited to see if it would come look. After a few seconds it come around the corner and we locked eyes "oohh shit im caught" he froze and stared at me then quickly went into a stretch and i had the feeling like he was just going it to pretend he was for sure never going to look at me just like trying to hide why he was coming over. I laughed and went inside.

My kitty jumps on my stomach (uncomfortable) so I have to move him up to my chest. Then he sleeps on my chest all night long.
I learned another reason why a cat would stretch when they see me. I learned this from my girlfriend's cats who would wake up, stand up, do a big stretch, then twirl around to sleep in the other direction. So, cats sometimes stretch to re-sleep.

Ive notice dogs doing something similar: the bowing in stretched repose, accompanied by a very vocal and energetic yawn.. and to finish it off with the surprise pounce on your lap! Body language is the way our friends communicate. Cats and dogs are not so different.

When I come home from work, (I have 2 boys and 2 girls) one of my boys usually competes with one of my girls to be the first to greet me.
Both of my two female cats love to head bunt my hand at 4 or 5 in the morning to get pets.
If I stop petting them, they will bunt again until I pet again. If I beg off by saying that 'Daddy has to sleep now', they will stop after 2 or 3 cycles.
