What if my Basecamp has been my other 2 cats Basecamp?
If I’m adopting littermates, do I need one or two base camps? These will be the first/only animals in the house.
I live in an apartment that basically only has a few rooms and idk which area should be base camp. There's my bedroom which I share with a roommate, a third roommates bedroom which is obviously off limits for base camp, and a living room connected to a kitchen/dining area. He said to avoid master bedrooms but that's basically the only isolated room in the house I could keep the cat. Is it even necessary to have a base camp if the living space is this small?
Hi Jackson! I'm bringing home a senior cat, I've been watching all your videos on the topic, such as this one about Basecamp and proper introductions, my question here is, if I already have a cat what would I need to buy to make this new cat feel more at home?
I’m trying out base camp with my 10 week old kitten. He’s happy in there when I’m in there with him but when I leave he wails. Should I let him in my bedroom, sleep in base camp room or keep trying to sooth him and leave him then go back again?
I wish you could "show"
me an example of a base camp.
We are adopting our first Family pet. We are looki g to bring home a 7 month old male. Would our 8 year olds bedroom be a good base camp? Or the other option is our office. Our daughter wants the cat obviously to feel comfortable and safe in her room, but I figure eventually it would anyway, right? So I want to pick the best option for base camp. Thanks in advance!😅
I have to keep my new kitten in the bathroom as i live in a one-bedroom apartment. Ive tried moving her to the bedroom but it really upsets the resident cat. Kitten also likes to use the bathroom on my bed 😢
Do you guys think it is ok to have base camp in the room I am staying in? Or does the cat need to be alone? I am getting a kitty in 2 weeks..😁
I've watched a few videos and I'm so nervous. I have two cats that have lived in the same house for four years but she (Bella) hates him (Sheldon). We got Sheldon as a kitten and I did not introduce them correctly at all. We essentially have a lockdown protocol at 9pm where Sheldon goes to "bed" in one part of the house so Bella can move freely through her part of the house. During the day, sheldon moves freely, and Bella has her hiding spots that she stays in all day until Sheldon goes to bed. Now the cat distribution system has given us a sweet orange tabby (stray kitten in our backyard). We have not found owners as of yet and if we do not, we would like to keep kitten. I think doing introduction with kitten and Sheldon will go well, but I need to find a way to introduce Bella to kitten, and wonder if I can somehow repair the relationship between Bella and Sheldon.
I'm thinking about adopting a cat and your channel is a Goldmine of information!!! Thank you so much for all the videos 😃
I adopted two kittens! They’re from different litters, a week apart! One is very confident and didn’t miss a beat, the other is shy and getting more comfortable day by day. But the confident tabby is ready to leave our master bath and explore, the other kitty just runs and hides or slowly explores. Do I wait to let them both out into the entire house when the shy one is ready and more confident? And just keep the confident one with her in base camp for as long as the shy one needs to come out of her shell? Any advice from anyone would help or if you have had a similar experience :))
These videos are so helpful! I have a question – our elderly kitties both passed away this winter and this spring, we are adopting two new little kittens. We've washed the blankets, cat carriers, and litterboxes from our old cats, but is there a chance there is a lingering scent that will upset or confuse the kittens? Should we get new stuff? Any advice would be much appreciated!
I've been watching so much of your videos about adopting another cat and introduction lately. A couple of weeks ago, I went to the vet to take out a couple of teeth on one of my two cats, he had been low lately and they found an aggressive type of cancer under the tongue and throat.. so I went home without him.
My other cat have never been alone before (also adopted) and is not her self. Tomorrow I am going to visit a cat that needs an forever home and I am so thankful for all the videos you have to prepare. I do wish you were available in Sweden during coming intro. These videos really matters!
What if I live in a one bedroom Apt?
Thanks for the good advice ❤
How do we create a Basecamp to introduce a cat in a studio?
ur an angel
Apologies if this was covered in the video and I’ve missed it, how long would you keep a kitten in base camp before letting them explore the rest of the house?
You're perfecttttt
love yhou man
I swear to god this is the cutest opening to a YouTube video I've ever seen. My heart has melted. Nothing like a full grown dude holding a tiny kitten.
How long do we do Basecamp? We turned our guest bedroom into a Basecamp for two new cats (brothers) after our two senior cats died last year. They've been here almost 2 weeks and when we let them out of their room, they kind of turn wild and hide. We have been rotating out cushions and litter boxes and blankets
I just adopted a cat and found your channel and have been binging your videos. They are so helpful! Thank you for all the amazing content!
The only spot I can build a base camp is in the living room that is open to the kitchen as well, how can I make the space as safe and comfortable for the new cat as possible when it is a larger room?
I live in a one room apartment with attached bedroom and bathroom. I'm adopting 2 kittens (about 5 mths old). Where might be the best place to setup basecamp? I think the bedroom is more private but I'll sleep all night, which might stress the cats out throughout the night?
Alternative would be the living room – it isn't super private but i can create nooks for them to hide in?
When adopting kittens, for how long do I let them stay in basecamp before I let them out? Greetings from the Netherlands! Love your channel 🙏😘

Hi Jackson! I was just wondering, if I am adopting two kittens do I still need to set up a base camp? Or is having each other enough?
I will be brining a 4 month old kitten home. I have a 1 bedroom condo. My living/dining room and kitchen are open. The only closed room is my bathroom and bedroom. Should I make my bedroom her basecamp? Do I keep the door closed or open so she can roam freely? I don’t have any other pets.
I adopted a pair of male cats. The oldest (13 yo) was eating, comfortable, and ready to start exploring the house on day 2. The other cat (1 yo) is still hiding under the bed on day 3 and I’m worried that he’s not even eating. Any advice on what could be troubling the younger one? The cat was very outgoing when I met him and I set up base camp with all their needs including access to window and multiple litter boxes and food/water sources. I’m keeping them both in there until they are both ready and I feel bad about keeping the cat that’s ready to explore in there
Is one of those adjustable large deluxe cat cages in a quiet corner of the living room an acceptable basecamp? That way they are in a secure place to get used to the scents and people of the house, and their basecamp can be opened up and turned into a cat corner in the living room too, and closed up again if necessary.
when i babysit my grandniece furbaby i make sure he comes with his mums nightie so my babies n smell it n they can smell him too coz eventually imma have to take him for a couple weeks at a time when his mum n grandma go to PNG xxx <3
My new and first rescue into my own family is coming to the US from kuwait in the next 2 weeks and I'm so glad I found your video ! I've been researching and researching and until I saw this video I knew I didn't feel comfortable and confident with what I learned so thank you !!! I hope you're able to answer this because now I'm concerned about where to do basecamp for her (3 year old female) We're about to move at the end of the lease in December BUT for now myself and my 4 year old live in a tiny 1 bedroom +den( sons room) 1 bathroom with an open concept and originally I was going to use the bathroom but now I know that's not the best place. So in this case can I do the master bedroom? Do we try to stay out of the master most of the time at first after following these instructions? I'd appreciate you or anyone's input ! PLEASE HELP! and thank you!!
What if the living room is the only place for base camp. My older cat wasn’t allowed in the bedroom and the new kitten is in the bedroom but my older cat has cat tree, cat wall tons of scratchers and litter boxes in the living room
Wow I’ve have been doing this for years with my cats! Makes me super happy I’ve been making moving as easy as possible for them 💛
If i get 2 kittens at the same time do i still give them 2 basecamps? And also does that mean keep them sepeeare for awhile as they adjust to their indiviual basecamps?
Thanks that actually helped a lot. I’m going to be adopting in the next week or two.
I’ve been cat sitting my son’s cat for about a month. She is going back to him next week and I am getting my own 2-year-old cat- adopted from a friend- the same week. She is also getting spayed this same week. Am I setting myself up for trouble here?
I have a one bedroom flat (bedroom bathroom and kitchen diner) I didn't have an unused room, what do I do?
how long should they stay in base camp
Her house now and she lets me live there 😂
“Smells like dog” 😆🐈🐕
I don't have another room to create a basecamp. I live in a one-bedroom apartment. I am bringing in a new kitten to the family. I have a 4-year-old cat who lost her 19-year-old companion a few months back. How am I going to do this introduction? Thank you,
My aunt's rescue cat just had kittens and I'll be getting one of them. How early can I start swapping scents? I was thinking about bringing home kitten-scented things when I visit today (3 day old kitties!) For my current cats to get used to
I get a 11 week kitten on Saturday and I already have a 13yo cat at home. My senior cat is pretty skittish so her Basecamp is a spare bedroom that we've converted into a cat room for her. It's socially significant as we sit in there or pass by it to use the laundry in the adjoining room. For the new kitten, we plan to make the spare bathroom that shares a wall with the cat room into the kitten's Basecamp. Eventually, I should be able to move his Basecamp to the cat room, right? My SO is concerned we're never going to get the bathroom back.
Any tips for setting up a basecamp in a one bedroom apartment? Is the living room a possibility? There’s not many options cause the only other rooms are bedroom and bathroom
About to take in my daughters cat for a time and this concept will really help as she was a rescue and very timid. Working hard to help her get her mojo on !
I adopted a rescue from foster. She was a very scared little girl. I watched a ton of your videos for insight. I was not able to implement all of your suggestions for her. But I have been able to provide multiple litter boxes for her, wet food and kibble to knosh on, treats, beds, free reign of the house,….
She is my pretty baby girl. We bond more every morning. And most of her happiness is due to your help and suggestions.
I thank you, and Onna thanks you.
