When will we fix the tools that run the world?

Our bodies are limited. We cannot fly and are not the fastest,
strongest, or the best swimmers. We are, however, tool builders.

Tools separate us from other species. They empower us to do more and break
us free from our “modest” biology.

Not only that, but human history is filled with technological breakthroughs
that redefine the types of tools we can build. I’m talking about fire, electricity,
and computing. Maybe even AI.

The world currently heavily relies on software tools, a consequence of
the last technological leap.

But there’s a problem. I started to notice that there is a wide distribution in the quality spectrum of the
software around us.

I expected variance. What surprised me was that some sectors seem to be
systematically deprived of high-quality tools.

Some have access to fast software that looks sleek. Others rely on
tools that look like they were created in the early 2000s and left frozen in time. And they
have no better option.

The software that hospitals use. The software that stores use to keep
track of their inventory. The software that airlines use to check

It feels like we created these tools when software became a thing. Then, we forgot them.

As a developer, I feel empowered by the modern tools I use and genuinely enjoy working with them.

It saddens me to think that while I have rocket engines at my fingertips,
many talented people are stuck making fire with sticks. The world is at a
