This game is absolutely amazing came with my Rx 6800 paired with my i7 9700 and I play with everything on highest settings at 1080p witch btw looks like 4k because of how well made the game is and I’m always plenty above 100 fps with no dips at all I’m 4 hours in . Also got dead island 2 with it as well

Ngl ever since they added new game plus it made my second play through alot better since Jacob can start with the guns he had from the first play through and he's stronger this time and more upgraded. The gameplay ended up not being all dodging and hitting most of the time but instead turned into a freaking shooting game fr most of the time I played through it with some melee attacking no joke it was so much fun the second play through compared to the last one.

I loved the game
I’m really glad I started this game on the easiest difficulty so I didn’t get nearly as frustrated as those who gave the game more negative reviews. The combat takes some getting used to but for me, my main issue is that the game never does a good job at effectively communicating to the player which way is the way to progress through the story and which way is just a side area to explore… they both feel like the correct way. Now that isn’t too bad, the problem is when you get locked out from backtracking because you thought you were going down the optional path.
Third playthrough just so happened to end with the glorious…….Congratulations You Just Unlocked New Game +!!!!! Literally Jan 24th 10pm so I started number 4!!!!!
My complaints are negligible also. There are those few areas that need updated or attention but to compare any game to Dead Space and use that as the measurement is an impossible task!! You would have to go like Bio Shock or deep time travel to Goldeneye to compare to Dead Space!! That was a totally genre defining game!! Rage 2 did the perennial copy others and it is an amazingly well perfected play through butttttt the complaints still piled up mainly that they copied other games!!!!!!! Hulllllo!!!??? You want perfection then just shut up when you get it!! But alas back on point…I have very few games that I would bother playing 2, 3, much less 4 times so here is to a well done game that we can only hope makes a critically acclaimed part 2 so we can see the Callisto world the way we were intended….side note this is classic survival horror so yeah everything is a tad difficult on the player!! Bringing up the horror of having to carry keys in your inventory…..at least here we could carry some stuff with no inventory penalty so thanks to that!!

I am glad people are complaining! This is how developers recognize how they can make improvements in future installments. We need people to complain so that quality is top priority moving forward in video games. The thing is with callisto is first the story was not good. Characters were not fleshed out and the boss battles were uninspiring with a weak uninteresting villain that you barely see throughout the game. Gameplay was fun and I thought the combat worked well it took strategy to play and it was intentionally hard to battle multiple enemies at a time I believe that was the point. The story was just not up to standards when it comes to most single player driven experiences. And I guess it could have been longer imo but I never binge games I play them like episodes in a show, it makes them feel alot longer. I would've also liked more cinematically tense moments like when he was falling from the sky or through the sewer tunnel. I think they could've done alot better especially with the story. I enjoyed it for what it was just hope they do better if there is a sequel. It is never a bad thing for people to complain about a video game not meeting expectations, developers recognize this and improvements work well for everyone. We need people to continue to speak up on this.

Spectacle > Substance. Boring. The death scenes had more time put into them than the entire game imo. Look at hownl gruesome you can die. But hey combat is a janky mess. Atmospher is a janky mess. But hey look at hownhorribly your character can die! No backtracking. No great puzzles. Very little survivor horror survivor action gameplay. But hey! LOOK HOW YOUR CHARACTER GETS RIPPED APART WHEN HE DIES. Anywho, theres a lot of things we didnt add on release but we will out them in later. Also! LOOK AT HOW THEY RIP YOU TO SHREDS! We shouldnhave focused on a game that made you feel like every new area is engaging and awesome but nope! LOOK AT YOUR CHARACTER GET DESTROYED WHEN YOU DIE. Maybe we should have focused harder on making a better game.

It’s not scary: Overused Jumpscares are such a popular thing with “horror” now and it’s awful.
The combat is forced and absolutely unfun: You can’t cancel animations and it’s tedious due to the INCREDIBLY spongey enemies also the combat is another reason it’s not scary. Why should I be scared of the things the game wants me to fight in close quarters?
Story is Bland: Characters are Boring and Basic, Story overall isn’t captivating

I actually loved this game. I think the major problem is that it was truly made for PS5, and that it was botched on PC and previous gen consoles.
That’s understandable. And even though the horror and story isn’t anything special, they nailed the atmosphere and the performances. I cared about Jacob, simply because Josh Duhamel did a fantastic job.
This game is not perfect, not even great. But I love it, and I feel like people are hating it mostly for the fact that it isn’t Dead Space.

I love this game. Agree on the flaws, but I just enjoyed navigating the environments so much. I can't get enough industrial space sci-fi horror in my life. I wasn't scared, but I was enthralled engaged and always anticipating what was around the next corner. Everything is predictable nowadays so the meh story is expected. Keep your expectations low and you will be pleasantly surprised with the good things you find. Can't wait for more from this universe.
This game is through and through survival horror. It's like every other triple A title out there. Every complaint people have about this game can be applied to nearly every other survival horror game to date. Clunky combat (go play Silent Hill and tell me this doesn't have better combat). Inventory management (go play Resident Evil and tell this isn't more of the same). Wonky death animations (go play Tom Raider or just about any other game and then tell me the animations here are rubbish). Silent errand boy protagonist (go play Dead Space and get back to me). Lack of enemy variants (go play slender man). Recycled bosses (go play Resident Evil 2 and fight Nemesis/Mr. Black over and over, and over and over…) I rest my case…
The people who like this game are the same people who like playing games in easy mode all the time. Seriously, you dont even need to master the game and you can beat the crap out of the enemies. It was underwhelming comapred to dead space which supposedly had the same crew.
That's why the negativity. Most people here judge the game by graphics, not the terror and tense atmosphere Dead space has set up for all the survival horror genre.
This is an action game, not a horror.
You can finish the game with only beating up enemies without firing a single shot.

Callisto was a mediocre experience for me personally, and that disappoints me because I recognize the great potential it has for survival horror.
The best I took away from Callisto was the sound design, exploration, and visuals. I wish gameplay was less 50/50 with combat… since the mechanics could get quite boring after the 5th hour caving a biophage skull in.
Played through it twice, first on maximum, second on medium. It was initially a 4/10 for me, but after further consideration I’m raising it to a 5/10 for the passion put into the sound and visuals.
Callisto’s far from what the marketing said it’d be… but at least it’s a good power fantasy making you feel untouchable.

I'd rather play this then god of war Ragnorak the combat of that game bored me to death! Returned it after a couple of hours. Whereas this game keeps me coming back for more yes the combat can get a bit frustrating at times until I eventually mastered it! Absolutely loving this game so far.
I found the callisto protocol to be a just 'ok' game and I have several major complaints. First is that the last gen versions do not perform well, I played on xbox one s and the framerate is pretty bad. I also had texture pop in issues too where it takes five seconds for the enviornment to load up correctly, framerates in the teens and pop in issues are unaccepatble, even for the last gen versions. My second problem is with the enemy behavior, I died a lot from being attacked behind while trying to melee another enemy in front of me which wouldn't have been so frustrating if the telekinesis wasn't extremely limited. This brings to my third gripe which is upgrades, weapon upgrades are way too expensive and I honestly didn't notice significant improvements to gun damage. There is no new game plus either which is something that the callisto protocol should have.

I thought the game was great. I've heard people say this game isn't replayable, but I find it incredibly replayable. I've played through Callisto Protocol like 5 times now to improve my skill. I'd personally say this is one of my favorite games this year. It's nowhere near as bad as many YouTubers say it is. It's certainly nowhere near as bad as Saints Row. I just wish more people would give this game a shot. I'm honestly excited for dlc for this game, and I really hope they make a sequel.

I absolutely adore this game it’s incredible as you said Ioved every second of this game on my 3rd play though now and with this new patch they released they fixed the missing skins etc and certain things anyways the lighting, atmosphere, combat, weapons, graphics it was so great but do agree the story could have been better and more horror other than that the dlc in very exited for great vid also my friend 👍

I thought maybe I just don't get scared at games as much as I used too. So I went back to Dead Space 2 and had more scares in the first level than all of TCP. Atmosphere was similar enough but necromorphs are way more terrifying than biophages.
I'm curious, did you play on performance mode or with raytracing enabled?
Calisto was awesome. The best part of it was the graphics, hands down best graphics in gaming history. Downside was kind of repetitive combat which i stilll had fun and game being kind of short

Over promise, under deliver, that's what it all comes down to. They inflated this in the marketing and all the interviews Glen Schofield had done, making it up like he's some kind of genius, even when he's clearly not, he was producer for the first Dead Space, and a lot of its design and direction was done by other people that had worked with Glen. It all looked great and people fell to the expectations for this game.
Item Management – it's literally just the same as the one from Dead Space, it's action horror. It's ridiculous people expected this to be any different. Now if they're looking for inventory management in the level of RE4 then we will indeed have a discussion.
Combat/Gameplay – the loop isn't specifically a problem it's the enemy variety, the game is long enough as it is, fighting the same type of enemies and mini-bosses isn't fun, it's repetitive. The reason why Dead Space avoids this problem is because there are specific enemies that skirts around the weaknesses common fodders have. You can throw all the combat strats you have to make the point that it isn't brain dead, even if it is flawed, that won't pad out the lack of enemy variety. Level design also plays a big part of the gameplay, but, we're going for specifics here.
Atmosphere – One of if not the best part of the game, it had great colors without relying on piss filter to create the much needed atmosphere. And even if the story is paper thin, the voice acting of the game is kinda up there that tbh I forgot this is Code Veronica in Space. Audio can be janky at times, specifically at the lack of some stingers during enemy encounters, but it's too minor of a critique to even make.
This isn't a bad game, but any takes regarding how some people love it is teethering towards personal opinion and the subjective kind at best. There are a lot of things needed to be talked about regarding its design and mechanics, and that would explain the majority why people are disappointed if not outright despising this game.
P.S: A word of advice, next time trying to do a review like this, try to thread the line between personal and objective points. All of the stuff said here felt way too oriented to a personal experience instead of looking into what the majority really felt. Also "sucks to be me" really? That should have been a major point of criticism, it's optimization. People gave Arkham Knight the same flak why not this game? Just because it works well on one platform doesn't mean optimization isn't an issue.
