When i sit at my computer my cat climbs the shelf next to me and meows in my ear until i let her climb on my lap. Once on my lap she flops over for belly rubs for like 30 to 45 minutes lol

My cat does that too. She wants to smell whatever I’m eating but never wants to eat it.
For lots of reasons seems to be the answer for everything.
My cat does some pretty strange things. If we're taking about a subject and he thinks I'm wrong, he will Google it and prove it to me. He also likes to turn his head upside down when he's reading the newspaper. Weird. Sometimes when he's doing the dishes he thinks I don't see him, but he sneaks into the cupboard as he's putting the dishes away and grabs another can of soft kitty food. Little stinker!
My cat would probably ask for a belly rub if a rabid coyote wandered into my yard.
