I have a 3 year old gsd i got him in last june2024 as soon as i took him out of the car we went for a walk he got well and truly upset with a person that lives 3 doors away from me my dog did and still will get up on his back legs pulling and barking at him 6 months on he still at it find out the other day that he smokes weed and deals in drugs so prop smells the stuff on him now not say that he does but he never do it to no one else in village this been going on from day one i got him

One thing I would like to point out is I think this superpower they have is contingent upon having a healthy social relationship. Dogs who don't get much interaction from other people or dogs tend to be more aggressive and territorial regardless of how good the person or dog is.

So through learned behavior like humans dogs can remeber so all those lies that they can sense this or that is out the window its not a sense it's learned behavior

Dog owners, if your dog is barking at someone in your presence, you should control him instead of distrust the person who is completely innocent but the dog is barking because they had some smell that the dog dislikes or associates with something negative! Dogs can’t tell who’s good person or bad person, but they can feel bad intentions! Your dog will protect you if you are in real danger, if he dislikes some of your friend or neighbor, it doesn’t mean shit!

Dogs are really special creatures, but don’t hare your friend because your dog barked at him!

This is kind of a sad story but I think its worth telling. I have a shitzu named Corduroy and he is my absolute best friend. Have had him his entire life 7+ years and we are inseparable. I was in the military for most of my early adult life and experience pretty severe PTSD and unfortunately sustained a blast injury from an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) resulting in a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) while deployed. I got into a motorcycle accident about a year ago that my neurologist says severely worsened the state of my brain and behavior on a cyclical schedule. Sometimes I feel completely fine and sometimes I feel like reality isn't real, its quite terrifying. No one including my primary care physician or my neurologist can figure out why or if anything triggers it. My wife is an absolute gem and does whatever she can to make me feel supported and normal during the bad times but what is most interesting is my dog Corduroy we have come to realize can detect when I'm about to go into these "psychosis" type states. He becomes very nervous and WILL not leave my side and also growls at anyone to include my wife that tries to get near me during these times and if you knew or met Corduroy you would know he is anything but aggressive. We ended up bringing him in to see my neurologist a few times believe it or not and the consensus is that Corduroy has such a deep caring connection with me that my neurologist thinks he can detect and determine when my brain chemistry changes before I even experience it sometimes DAYS before it happens and trys to protect me from anything and everything. He has never been wrong when he starts to feel this way and display this type of behavior. This only happens once ever few months and can last from a few days to a few weeks. Its very difficult to explain exactly what happens or how I feel during these times but my personality changes and its extremely difficult for me to go out in public or speak to people im not very comfortable with. I am extremely greatful that shitzus can live into their late teens so I pray he has many many more years of life left because he makes me feel a little bit of home even when my whole reality and perception is completely upside down. I think all of this is just instinct, they can smell fear/anger. Dogs aren’t stupid, they make decisions based on what they know, just like we do.

Dogs will also bark at other dogs or people when you show signs of being afraid or nervous of the other dog or person

My dog barks at Indian people it's so embarrassing!! Why is he such a racist 🙁 He is still a puppy but he has never had an unpleasant interaction with an Indian person so I don't know where it's coming from!
