Might be a bit late on this train; I haven't been paying much attention to the Jim Sterling stuff since…around 2012 at least. But I can't say this surprises me.
Oh, also for a first attempt at an Open Zone game, Sega did an amazing job.
As an aside, why have some mtf transformation art as background art? Not that I dislike it; it's just a bit… risque if you know what I mean.

Jim has only ever been popular for two things.
1. Being sued by digital homicide
2. Getting into beefs over "hot takes" of games.
Jim's just desperately trying to reignite some controversy because the channel subs and views are falling into the toilet, the Patreon is declining (gradually but still going down), and Jim's not doing as well in wrestling as they claims (there are guys booked on every big show in the UK that still need day jobs, so unless Jim's found the biggest mark to book him, They aren't making a living on that alone). Even with the normally popular year end lists, December still had the channel at half the views from it's peak in March, and the channel lost 3000 subs.
They attacked too many communities, Jims take on games is reflective of a decline in interest in them (demanding they be made easier, admitting they got to a point they can't even concentrate if it's complicated due to ADHD). Jim now just a very niche gaming pundit, that has pushed away his core audience.
I don't care what Jim Sterling says about Sonic Frontiers. It's a fun game! It's not great, but it's a really good Sonic game. I mean, it's rough around the edges, especially the Nintendo Switch version, but hey, it's a solid Sonic game. Nintendo Life gave the game a 4/10, but I don't care. Meanwhile, they gave Sonic Forces a 6/10. Sonic Frontiers is a thousand times better than Sonic Forces.

Let be real man, although I love sonic, his 3D games, even the good ones, are not as good as we claim them to be. sonic adventures 1 and 2 along with colors and generations have poor platforming, a clunky camera and lack polish throughout their level design as a result of the speed limitations of sonic.

jim has been going downhill a lot over the years I use to really enjoy his takes on video games but now it almost seems like he just gives negative reviews for the sake of negative reviews and doesn't even want to put any real effort in the games he wants to criticize anymore

WTF? I saw another video dunking on Jim and Dunkey for their horrid takes on Frontiers, more over in Dunkey's case he's responsible for the game getting review bombed by his drones. I've got Bloodborne and that game is hard is hell. I haven't played it in a while cause I was confused what to do with it. But I have Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen and even if you put the game on Easy mode, it's hard as hell especially if it's your first time playing the game.(Play as a Sorcerer on Hardmode btw, you need skill to do that >> but there are memers on her who are better DD:DD players than myself.) Don't get me started on BitterBlack Isle, that DLC radiates SoulBorne Energy. And seriously, an EASY mode for a game who's developers are responsible for making the Soulsborne titles?
Tsk, this whiney would suck at PSO2, NieR Automata, hell, I don't play the hard modes of KH but for Pete's sake all those games are hard as heck! Where does he get off whining for an easy mode in games that pretty require you actually get good at them. I had to "git gud" at Frontiers. Yes, I'm playing on Easy first run, but it's due to the fact it's been YEARS since I played a Sonic Game. I intend to do a normal and hard mode run afterwards once I've had practice with the game in Easy mode.
Also, a small note, I distaste games that "mock" you for going into Easy mode. Easy mode is meant to be, "Yo, I'm here for yah to help yah get good at the game so you can be a pro at it!" Not "Hurhur y0u suck fer pickin' baby mode." What I'd say, "Oh really, Tell me you haven't played a game outside you're comfort zone, without saying you have." No is good at game from the get go unless they have a natural knack for it, but with Elden Ring you do eventually learn how to get good, but yeah…. If you're not good at the game, then just move on. I hate both this elitist and whinney behavior on both sides.
And yeah, It's clear Sterling hasn't played the game and is just using the worn out trailer as a basis for their "review", User reviews on MetaCritic and Steam are better than that garbage his idiot self claims is a review.

I worked on my own sonic video game project and I can't top Sonic Frontiers. It is the best sonic game I have ever played in my life. I am a sonic fan for 20 years and sonic frontiers is through the roof.

Honestly, I don't care that much. Sterling's review isn't going to single-handedly change the reception of the game. If people want to give it a 1/10 then that's their right, I guess. I just disagree about calling the developers lazy. A team of 60 people, correct me if I'm wrong, working to do something new with the franchise (keep in mind that some of the development time was just spent on conceptualizing how "open-zone" would even work) is awesome. Even if they couldn't make a 10/10 experience, the effort shows. I don't think it's fair to call Sonic team lazy just because they couldn't make the best thing in the world. Feel how you want to feel about the game, but calling the team lazy is uncalled for in my opinion. Someone could spend a lot of effort on something bad. Someone could spend little of effort on something great. Unless you were there, I don't think it's fair to call them lazy. That's why, although I wasn't a fan of their writing, I personally don't like to just hate on Pontac and Graff. I don't know them at all. If you hate the game and think objectively it's a 1/10 then that's your prerogative. Don't go insulting and disrespecting workers who's livelihood is based upon making content to entertain you.
