I think the cable on the valve one is long enough to reach the bottom port on my Legion Go.
Valve is the only one with Variable Rate Refresh. Get one 2nd hand, sanitize it, 👍
My issue with most docks is they don’t fit the deck with cases and such.
I think the M.2 drive is good if you plan on using the Steam Deck as a computer, for your video, photo or music files.
I have the JSAUX and don’t have the capture card problem just that need to put to sleep and the best part I just buy it for 15 DLL so I’m happy
This was an amazing review. Thank you so much! Solidified my decision to get the iVoler. I was worried about my D brand case causing issues with the docks
I heard you like rubber feet so here’s some rubber feet on your rubber feet…
If you think about it, he kinda sounds like CG5, or at least what his brother would sound like.
Honestly people like me are probably why the JSAUX exists for since I use it mostly as a stationary system since space is at a premium for me so replacing my old computer with a small laptop for work and browsing and a Deck for gaming made more sense then getting a tower, but then that begs the question why not just have the M2 bay instead have multiple microSD bays since that would allow a more efficient ratio of physical space to data storage?
I've been using a little cheap USB C adapter that has an HDMI out to the TV. Honestly, it kind of sucks because syncing the video with the television is always a huge pain. After watching this, I'm probably looking to get the Steam official version soon.
I feel like saying that you don't like the way the plug doesn't fit snugly after you put on a third party skin… hm.
How is the fitting with for example a kilswitch casE?
Anker dock just released. Exactly what ive wanted from a namebrand company.
Thanks for your sincere reviews, Russ.
If you go with the USB-C hub route, what power adapter would you recommend? I’m wary of third party chargers for handheld consoles after the whole Switch fiasco.
Can't go wrong with official products. I don't know if I would trust any of the others leaving my Steam Deck on there for extended periods.
Heads up! the jsaux with M.2 SSD Enclosure is on sale and back in stock. The dock without a ssd was 130 down to 100 (99.99) and they have a spin to win on the page that got me another 15% off. so it's like 85 USD and shipping was free to Canada. I'm not affiliated, but I remember the cost was of note with this item when I watched a month ago.
It will be a while before I get a ssd upgrade to my deck but I will for sure put the 64GB that I have now into the jsaux dock and try out my windows dual boot in dock idea.
Pretty sure the ssd in the dock is more for multimedia. I think it would be great to have your movie collection on the dock since you're likely going to want to watch it on your tv rather than the deck itself most of the time and then it's not taking up precious game space. I think it's a great idea!
Can you test the Sabrant dock too?
I have the exact same Ivoler dock and after 5 months the usb-c power port isn't working properly. Any movement of the dock will cause the power connection to be interrupted.
The official valve dock has the lowest latency out of all of them.
Just got the non-nvme jsaux dock. The video starts blanking out after a while of use….. so… returning.oh, using with ayaneo2 so, technically, not using it as recommended
Did you even bother testing the HDMI for specs and USB ports for transfer speeds? Most docs, hubs, and dongles are lying about specs and I’m blown away that you didn’t’ test or show us any test results….. Pretty disappointed.
Still feel its pretty high for $80
I think the M2 is pretty slick. I just got a discounted, lowest spec deck today. I didn't know this kind of dock existed. So the reason I went deck as opposed to a handheld retro device is because I could make it a backup PC for remote work. I don't know if it's possible but maybe one could dual boot off this m2. And, I was planning on upgrading the deck's m2 since a 1tb drive is cheaper or at least most cost effective per GB to DIY than to buy. So I could have a windows or different linux on this thing for saayyy garlic OS for docked retro gaming on the tv? or in my line of work centOS. So in my point of view, I'll have the ssd included anyway. 64 gb is enough for a windows install and basic browser/ remote software.
The ivoler one may be compatible with a switch, but then you have to put your switch in it upside down :S
The included charger makes the official dock an absolute bargain considering the prices of proper 65W chargers, not the fake deck-killer garbage you find online.
I got the sabrent dock for under $30 because I was worried about bulkier usb receivers and dongles. The ports are more spread out. It also will accept up to 95w so I can use a more powerful power brick to power the deck fully and whatever is attached to the dock.
bought the official Steam Deck Dock when it's came out. An never regretted it's. It's defiantly worth the price I order another one so I could connect my TV to my Steam Deck it's amazing. Though about buying two more of the Official Steam Deck dock. Haven't had any complaints with the official Steam Deck Dock. I actually use my Steam Deck with my monitor as a PC through display port works great.
Deck Dock is god tier. I'd pay $200 for it.
dude cant raise his monitor 5mm to fit an OEM dock lol
Can you test the JSAUX m.2 dock on the Legion Go? Will the SSD work with the Legion Go?
The additional storage when docked can be useful for games that you only plan to play on the TV such as couch coop games. It can also be used to store games that require or play better with specific accessories such as flight sticks, racing wheels, arcade sticks, etc.
That opening bops, not gonna lie.
That Anker 341 Hub is the exact hub I am using now and having issues with. When you use phones in DEX mode and do Geforce now specifically, would the cursor lag for you in se games? Also that anker hub for some reason develops an visual artifact and sometimes even turns off the video signal for a few seconds with my S23 Ultra whilst runing well on my S10. Also, in Geforce now on both phones with this Hub I have stuttering mouse issue what I don't know where to put..
Crazy to say but the official Valve dock sounds like it's actually worth it, especially being able to dual monitor (my bedroom setup actually has a Samsung TV and a 4K monitor, so the HDMI+DP multi-output would actually be used).
What is the point of the firmware updates? Its a dock. No upscaling software or anything. Firm ware updates for the official dock denote they need to fix things not add things (until the freesync and MST updates)
Hi @Retrogamecorp can you review the LISEN Legion dock
Excellent video! I was wondering if there is a dock that works with both the Steam Deck and the Switch OLED?
that Anker dock doesn't even qualify because it doesn't even have an EThernet port
gosh i want Steam's official dock, but its inability to comfortably accommodate cases is a huge buzzkill for me :(((
Can these docking use usb ports while charging at the same time? (charging and use usb controller at the same time)
I really don't wanna buy the actual steam one cuz its so expensive
I watched this whole video, and then at the end you revealed the true move. Going with the 7in1 hub
Wich Dock works with the retrostation 4tb???
As usual, excellent review here. Good quality video and full insight of all the details 👍🏼
The tribal design on the Jsaux reminds me of something I'd expect to see in Star Trek.
i bought a switch skin but tore it right off as it felt so tacky not even joking. horrible. glad it never left a mess.
