In my opinion i think the mario movie will surpass the 2nd sonic movie, one of the many reasons is that the mario movie actually follows the source material.
The fact that Mario is in his own world, as opposed to being in the, "real world", like Sonic, is a plus for me, I ain't gon lie🤔

Funny thing about the Prince of Persia movie, my parents saw that movie when it came out thinking it was going to be another one of those cool history/mythology based action movies (which I think were particularly popular throughout the 2000s), prior to watching it they had no idea it was technically based on a video game
A large portion of people who saw it probably thought the same thing and I think it might be a contributor to why the movie sold better than the first Sonic movie, the promotion of the movie appealed to the general public rather than just kids and gamers

I like both franchises equally, I’m always hyped for Sonic and Mario. I liked the Sonic movies when they came out, but I can’t seem to like them as much anymore, in my opinion they feel to childish and it’s just doesn’t feel right to me. From what I’m seeing, I’m liking the Mario movie a bit more.

My opinion the Mario movie is difficult. What I like about it is that it is based in it‘s fantasy game world that we all know. But the problem the movie will face is with the voices of the characters. In the English version that won‘t be a problem at all just take the people who voice the characters in the video games and you got it but when it comes to international versions it will be hard to find fitting voices because over here in Germany for example we also have the all known English voice clips in the game and perhaps that will be the problem that will make the movie suffer, especially in countries like France or Canada where French is mostly spoken. I mean could you ever imagine how an Italian accent in French would sound like? Kind of weird.
