How to Gain the Trust of a Cat

So I've had two cats before this. But this third cat is odd. It hides under the bed all the time, hisses and growls at me whenever I try to interact. It also will go from acting sweet to hissing and growling in an instant. Whenever I leave my room, it runs into the spare bedroom to hide under the bed. I don't know why this cat isn't all bubbly and lovey like my other two cats were.

Well when I was little I made friends with a lot of stray cats and for some reason they just liked me for no reason

I have to walk on eggshells with one of my cats. He refuses to socialize with me, or anyone for that matter. He’s lived indoors for all his life. The only bad experience he had that I am aware of, was when he was little and my boyfriend claims he was a bit to rough with him trying to tough him up, now I don’t know the extent of the roughness, but his sister, although shy, still snuggle with us, and they had the same upbringing. I’ve tried everything to get him to come off his shell, but all fell in vain. He hides all day, but he’ll come out sometimes and walk around, but will take off if approached or if he senses any commotion. We call him the Sasquatch due to rare sightings of him. I don’t know what else to do. I need help.

In my karate school, there is a cat that literally trust everyone. Even strangers and babies, while my cat is scared of everyone except me and my dog.

My brother made me laugh really hard next to my cat while I was sitting on the floor because he noted how my cat looked like a hamburger and you know how farts are extra loud on wood? Well I accidentally farted and it sounded really loud which made me burst out laughing so I looked at my cat and he was so terrified but the look on his face was so funny which made me laugh even more and now I feel so bad because he won't come near me anymore 🙁

I need help. There is a cat just like the one at (0:40) black with white chest and paws that I think was the cat that delivered her kitten in my back yard 2 or 3 years ago. She has come back, and during the cold weather I made a shelter for her, and she has been using that shelter. I got her a nice wide bowl and I keep food for her and water, even though the water froze one day and I needed to replace the container. This cat has seen me many times but every time I spot her in the back yard and I make as if I did not see her. But she runs away the moment she knows that I had spotted her. For example today I was taking some recycling to the recycling bin. I saw her in the shelter but I just walked by her as if I did not see her. I dumped the recycling in the bin and that made some noise! Stupid me! 😡😡😡 But that loud noise got her out of the shelter, so I looked at her and said Hi in a very soft voice. She ran away. So I got her some more food in her bowl and I placed the bowl in the shelter, and then I emptied the water cleaned the container and got fresh water, and placed the water near the shelter I built for her. After about 15 minutes of no activity outside she returned and found the food. I opened the window so that I can hear her and she was eating. I want to make her aware that I am a nice person and that I want to have her trust me enough so that she becomes my cat. At first I would use a cup to get the food out of the bag and into the bowl, but recently I have been using my hand hoping that she would smell my cent and know I’m the person feeding her. This has been going on for a month now, and I really want her to trust me and become my cat. What should I do?

When you first meet them is the most important part heres what I do: first I give them the sniff test, where I put my hand out and it sniffs me then I slow blink and touch its face to show I love it and then I move my hand from the face and I pet it all the way down to where the tail starts but do not touch ths tail and stay there and then do the rest of the steps

I have 2 parts of information I can give you #1 do not try to yell their name calling for them say it in a gentle soft tone but loud enough for them to hear they will come out of hiding #2 do not try to pet them without giving them the second try of your finger doing that and touching nose as with them means them and it means I'm happy when you do it when you do it make sure to do it then pet them afterwards they will Love to be petted from you if you do that.
