While I respect your opinion, I have to disagree.
1. You are trying to convince people that a trailer is meaningless. However, trailers are VERY IMPORTANT for convincing people to buy the game. It is your MOST important marketing tool. If people don’t like a trailer for a game, a movie or a tv show, that directly affects how well that media is received. Look at Ghostbusters 2016. The trailers looked awful and sony lost around $75m.
2. Stop fully blaming the poor reception on the character alone. A lot of people, myself included, thought the trailer looked generic and boring. The retro space genre is overused and past its prime.
3. My biggest issue with the female character stuff is that you don’t see the same thing happening to male characters. And it’s ultimately harming female roles in media because the industry isn’t stupid. They see the backlash and want to play it safe.

The character is fine & ND will deliver again. Never in 37 years did I ever purchase a game because I thought the main character was attractive or supposed to be attractive. The review bombers are to be ignored. They have their own agenda. These are same people that gave TLOU 2 a zero before it even was released .

Every discussion I’ve seen treats this situation as simple as black and white. I’m in the grey area in the middle. Im a Christian man, late 20’s, tired of woke propaganda buuuuuut I grew up on and trust Naughty Dog. Much more than any gaming studio to deliver a solid gaming experience. At the end of the day, I will support this title. But yes, I’m growing tired of this idea that we need our female protagonists to be rugged and act like men. I personally wasn’t impressed, but it’s nothing to do with the look of the character; it’s because she comes across as inherently unlikeable to me. The product placements didn’t help, but mainly I don’t want to play as a character that comes across as rude and condescending. Maybe she’s different later in the game, but if that’s the case, then this was a terrible trailer.
Honestly,, in today's day and age, "gamers" just aren't smart. After seeing the teaser, it gives me Cowboy Bebop vibes and I'm pretty interested cause it's about time that Naughty Dog is doing something new. At the end of the day, I'd just mock em as a satire and enjoy what interests me cause most fandoms nowadays are garbo as we're getting close to getting into 2025.

Hugh Jackman as the Wolverine, on his prime, had more makeup than her. She looks like a cartel cosplay with the bald head, tattoos and a white tank top. Girl boss attitude + MCU dialogue, is also the perfect combo nowadays. It's Outlaws set in the Concord universe. People may not want to judge a trailer based on the…trailer. But I'm not blind I can see what NG is doing and I didn't like what I saw.
I'm yet to see a comment of someone telling others they should or shouldn't buy the game. But to anybody that liked it, please buy it twice if that's your thing.

I'm not supporting the game because I HATED The last of us 2. The only 2 things I liked about it was the gameplay and the graphics. I couldn't even finish it. I did watch Cohh carnage play and finish it and after that, I was like thank god I didn't put more time into that shit. I had about 30 hours into it only to find out after he got to the part where I was, I was about half way through the game. From how much I played and about how many hours I had into it I thought I was about 90% through it. so I gave up on it and was like yah, I'm not putting more time into this shit.

I think Naughty Dog have a massive Flop on their hands yet again.
Since when did having to have attractive looking people in a game for it to be a good game. I just assume those people moaning about how a character looks were never actually going to buy this or any other game. To me attractive is not just based on looks, anyone (on both side) basing being attractive on looks alone is a shallow person.
I see a lot of people giving others abuse because they don't know how to argue properly or put across their case. A lot of people use the term "woke" and similar because someone likes something they don't like, so some words and terms have now just because a default word to be abusive.
Given the game is set in the 1980s, I wonder how many of these people making any comments were actually alive in the 1980s and can comment on the style back then.

The people complaining about her "generic character design" are so full of shit. I bet you anything that those people didn’t say the same thing when it came to other Naughty Dog characters like Nathan Drake or Joel Miller, who, character design-wise, are incredibly generic (Drake in particular is just a generic looking-ass white guy with a dirty t-shirt and some jeans… that's it. There's nothing special or interesting about how he looks).
These people just don't want to play as a woman they can't jerk off to, plain and simple.
