This week's episode of Zero Punctuation is brought to you by Humble Bundle. https://www.dpbolvw.net/click-100402551-15598945
Just saying, it is absolutely possible to do the goblin leader quest completely stealthily in multiple ways.
You CAN actually kill all the goblin leaders stealthily, Minthara has a bridge, distract her with Gale's familiar ontop of the bridge, break it, boom! Dead. And in Act 2 you can have all the big bosses end themselves with speech checks alone. And that is if you don't wanna use the patented, owlbear from the top-rope method that has become popularized by players.
I dropped over 340 hrs just in the first act alone doing everything only to find out sequence of mission turn ins is critical for maximized xp gain.
I miss zp…
Too be fair to weasels, Yahtzee may have forgotten they are the animal that have a legit programmed homicide reaction.
What makes BG3 such a great game is that it tries its darnedest to never say NO to the player, in both combat and in dialogue, even when engine limitations and other constraints force it to. It's the closest thing to an actual game of DnD that can work in a video game. I'm on my 3rd playthrough, and I'm still amazed at the variance in different paths I can take, some of which changed the context I had in previous playthroughs.
For example, (spoilers) you are given a choice to trust or betray one shady character who tries to tell you how vital he is to the main plot. I chose to trust him my first playthrough and he proved to be a great ally, even a friend. Second playthrough, I chose to betray him; only to find out that I never really had that in my power, he was always manipulating me to like him, that all the effort into gaining my trust beforehand was a ruse for his own machinations, and he would not have hesitated to forced me to be his slave from the start if he had not believed the subtle approach was better for his plans.
Sir… There are some significant penisses as well!!
Class Cannon AND Dungeons and Daddies. Hell yeah
3:49 Actually having watched Adventure Is Nigh, I can 100% see Mortimer doing that.
Give Yahtzee ZP back you fucking goblins
I have been listening to you for over a decade at this point. And i have loved all of your videos. 8 think your a touch off on this one
1:54 Lol
2:03 yeah…i didnt know that until 120 hrs in….about 86 to realize fully how to manage my inventory!!! Still 10/10 would dark urge again.
IDK why he's saying its not a graphical marvel. Everytime I play this game on full settings my 3080 goes wild.
I didnt have to fight any of the goblin bosses, theees way yo drop all of them without it.
I'm surprised Yahtzee didn't join up eith the goblin leaders.
Voice Speed is way to fast 😢
It is a good game, but i can't say it is groundbraking. Everithing is so full of multiplayer paving hools and gaps in game design that this feels solid. P.S. there are grondbraking small developer games.
This game has a story, apparently.
But you wouldn’t know it since you’re continuously getting sidetracked by other stories and you can’t even finish those before dragging yourself into yet another one.
I checked the comments for this but couldn't see anyone saying it: with the goblin leaders quest you can actually poison their booze tub and they'll all die after drinking from it.
He should play STARFIELD and then compare "options" given on Quests…. SF is a joke. BG3 is rather impressive
This is the nicest ive heard him be since portal, game must be a masterpiece
who the hell is this??
I lost it on "OI TWATS!" 😆
On the matter of the goblin leaders:
-You can talk to Gut to get her to isolate herself for easy shanking
-If you're quick on the draw with Minthara (and stealthily take care of the scrying eye) you can keep the fight between you, her, and at best 3 goblins; free chasm provided to deal with the latter.
-Ragzlin I don't think is sneakable, but you can try and sneak onto the rafters for a high-ground buff and making yourself very difficult to reach with melee.
when you're done, meet back up with Halsin and quick-travel outta there. Won't have to tango with any of the gobbers outside or any in Gut's area.
I would cherish a historical day forever when we get an immersive RPG game where bulshitting your way to the end game IS possible with speech checks, lies and sending armies against the bad guys through various means of manipulation and deception, and Yahtzee achieves his dream as Mortimer, feels unstatisfied with just how unlikable and selfish Mortimer actually is, but still praises the hell out of the game for having that as an option.
Annnnnd last video i am watching from the escapist. Y'all done screwed the pooch.
I played Act 1 5 or 6 times now and the Goblin Camp has a ton of possibilities on how to solve it.
And full on assault, smashing everybody is just the most obvious but by far not the coolest 😉
I spent most of the video waiting for Yahtzee to cover the "dating" mechanics.
RIP: Zero Punctuation
1:01 till Zero Punctuation actually starts, and that’s already a week after it’s held hostage in the Escapist site 🤯 looks like things turned out better for the crew!
was this video before he left?
Escapist failed to kill the Goblin Leaders Stealthily? I managed it just fine. Perhaps it's just a failure of understanding.
Sorry fellas, I was here for Yahtzee's personality and that entire situation has left me with a sour attitude towards your channel. Unsubbed & Good day~
Obvious paid review.
I poisoned the goblins
The pathfinding can be frustrating at times. Especially when they get stuck at nothing and stop following you and you don't notice until you are two rooms further ahead so you swap to the character that got stuck to move them around the easily avoidable obstacle. But in the mean time all the other characters have come running back and if you are unlucky one of them is gonna get stuck again.
Gonna turn comments off on all videos? Way too nuke a channel
Bravo. Well said
Excellent video! F the escapist management!
Dog
What I got from this is that if you aren't into D&D, this game will not be for you in the slightest.
The goblin leader part cracked me up, cause on my first playthrough , I didn't know more enemies can join in on an on going fight, so as soon as i killed the priestess i dipped into the under dark without finishing off the other two 🙂
Having played a lot of BG3 there is definitely a lot of flexibility in how you complete main quests, but a lot of it is gated through dice rolls, stacking modifiers on the right characters and making full use of all the game mechanics can make them sufficiently likely to roll positive, but ultimately the game always has some luck element, and things going wrong is just part of the fun. Part of the problem is that some of the fights are hard unless you know the full array of mechanics, and that's what BG3 does badly, I had to sit and watch a 20m tutorial on how spell slots work, before I properly understood them, and how stealth works.
It's a game that is rewarding to play through more than once, especially in coop with 3 friends, because then you do genuinely get to see different outcomes of the same events, it also rewards side questing a lot because the creatures don't auto scale their difficulty like they do in so many other games, so thorough side questing and really carefully searching the world will help you level your characters and it becomes easier to win impromptu fights.
one of the goblin leaders is dumb enough to stand in the middle of a rockety wooden bridge over a bottomless chasm – one fireball later there were only two goblin leaders
Why are all the comments so gay
Barrelmancy is a totally valid playstyle
