This compared to an SMSL c200 is a upgrade? My c200 started getting some hissing sounds and I might just replace it.
An excellent review! Although about the knobs being a gimmick, well maybe not as I am thinking the width knob is crossfeed and when it becomes genuinely useful is for games that don't already have crossfeed. If you did an A/B test with HeSuVi's crossfeed vs the Schiit Gunnr width knob and relevant games to confirm my suspicion, that would be great!

No more DX9? I still can't get beyond the HD 490 Pro harshness when listening to music compared to my HD 800 S
Also the HD 800 S are noticeably better than the HD 490 Pro when it comes to direction/imaging.
You need to review the Roland Bridge Cast one or the dual bus. Their software has a dedicated imphasis on FPS gaming.
hi im having the impression that the sennheiser 560s drain my ears (I guess most headphones kinda do after a longer time) but could you recommend an a bit more „gentle“ headphone from the tier list in the description 😅?
Makes me wonder how those special knobs affect open-back headphones.
Would love to see a review on the ATH-R70x!
Any way to easily EQ this with an App? Just looking to boost the Bass, and treble slightly. I'm coming from a SoundBlasterx G6, and I'm tired of the finicky endless Volume dial, and the tacky ring light that bursts through it. It's not self powered either. The Gunnr seems to solve all of that and then some.
Great video! Straight to the point I like that, I seen you have the rodecaster I have the duo and I want a good amp/dac to connect to it to power my headphones do you have a recommendation? I believe the dac/amp I need has to have a line output to connect to the duo. I like to play competitive fps shooters
hello brother where did you get that keyboard caps?
That mouse pad is F'n Dope 🔥🔥🔥
Gunnr or zen dac v3 which is better?
How do the 620S stack up against the DT 700 Pro X? I know you are mostly competitive gaming but I do play a variety of games like FPS, MOBA, RPG, and MMO.
these or HD 490 pro?
When gaming, do you select stereo or 7.1 with something like dolby atmos?
A review for FiiO FT1 going to be good. I have it and the HD 560s and it is much better than the 560s in games specially Apex legends. imaging and separation are much better for me with FiiO . even it has good sound stage regarding it is closed.
They seem to be the best closed backs right now (270$). Currently use 560S but cant stand hearing the wifes TV anymore while gaming.
Btw, review the A50 gen 5 🙂
Never spending money at schiit again
The Gunnr is an interesting product and the ability to operate totally portable off just USB power makes it nice for those on the go but with the additional wall wart more powerful than something like the HEL.
I do think they regressed a bit from the HEL by eliminating the microphone gain control knob off this unit and should have retained that function.
As far as the soundstage/presence other reviewers have also stated that minor tweaks, not big adjustments in the knob was the secret and this was even on more gaming oriented headphones like the Drop PC38X.
As a fan and owner of multiple Schiit products for now I will keep using my HEL as a gaming DAC but if I needed a replacement or additional unit I would not hesitate to buy the Gunnr.
I just bought the Seinheiser HD490 Pro due to my 560S breaking. I currently have a soundblaster gc7 and am wondering what is the best budget dac amp route to pair with the headphones or even if I should replace what I have?
Will it make a difference in clarity?
It's strictly for gaming purposes.
Sad that no one in the comments are remembering the Harmonic you used to love
Hey Fresh.. Have you ever used the HD 660s? I was looking to maybe upgrade to the HD 800s but then I saw your review on the HD 490pro which doesn't break the bank as much…
Would the 490's be a big upgrade paired with the dx9?
What happens when you turn the knobs a little bit to the left?
Also, you said it's a great amp/dac at default, but you also mentioned that it does not much to add anything to the 620's. So what makes it great, even at default?
Hi Fresh, would the Gunner DAC be good for a game Destiny 2, on the PS5? Thanks and keep up the great job!
if u want a more fast paced deadlock try gigantic rampage edition. Great game just 0 marketing
Whats your main headphones for cod ?
Still torn between this or the fiio ft1? What would you prefer for music and gaming
I find class A amps make the best for gaming. For whatever reason the low gain on my aune s17 gives me a larger sound stage and amazing imaging
I love the honesty, any DAC recommendations for the simgot super mix 4s? I only play on PS5 btw
which RCA cable are you using?
Have you paired the gunnr with the hd490 yet?
is this one better than the Zen dac v3?
thank you for the straightforward review, i was on the fence with the gunnr vs magni unity and after hearing the width and presence knobs arent really worth it i think im 100% going to go with a unity when i pick up an amp dac. and save the extra dollars
