Good description. Easy direction to teach the dog. Thank you
thanks, I´ll try it
What's worse a quick painful pop or a collapsed trachea from pulling so hard constantly? Good job 👏
Thanks
Oof! I know I am having a hard time bc I cant stand just WATCHING the dog get that pop.
During the session how many minutes a day. ?
Hi I av a sprocker spaniel 14mth old he was scared as pup in now he will not go for a walk at all any help uk I'm from
My 12 month cane corso Learned to walk on a leash properly today all because of u thank u so much
When do you give treats?
Can you use a body harness lease instead of the neck one for this type of training? I just don’t like the idea of jerking on their neck like that. Genuine question! Thanks for the tips!
your a genius
What do I do when I do the leash pull and turn but my dog just instantly goes the other way straight to the end of the leash. Even with high value treats he will not look at me. Its like he just wants to go. No amount of pops or turns or anything gets his attention. Like he realizes he's yanked and then just carries on in the next direction pulling without skipping a beat
Wow! Just starting fostering a 5 year old pit bull terrier mix. First time owning a dog in a little over a decade. After a couple days of heavy pulling was feeling very discouraged. Followed this video and boom, instant results. Just had a standard harness – no corrective collar or yelping needed.
I'm going to try it. I have a beagle who pulls with all her strength on walks, almost knocking me over. It's very unpleasant. Hopefully this will work
7days into having a newly adopted 2 1/2 year yellow lab. Totally great dog in the car and house but absolutely terrible when walking. Plus he barks at other dogs who also are walking. Former owner says he loves other dogs and just wants to play. I have access to a giant field and thats where we go for both privacy in training and availability for off leash time for running. Today hes getting his new spiky collar and we will be starting your method. I feel it might take more than 1 day only because he's very high strung, far more than the previous labs we had in the past. They were black labs and they seem to be far more emotional and responded to the stopping and looking them in the eyes giving the mean voice along with the spiky collar. I know the previous owners loved him because he does respond to a few commands but I know that he most likely had little to no leash time because they had a big fenced in yard. Sadly due to a divorce his dad gave him up because the wife didn't want him and the dad worked and would be gone to long. Thats how I knew he was loved by at least one of his owners. I'm looking forward to having Charlie be a great walker friend. Thanks again and ill let you know how it goes.
I've been doing this with my lab for about 30 mins and he's still walking out front with no slack but isn't pulling what should I do?
Amazing lesson, thank you 👍
This is crazy! I did this and I got my rescue dog that I just got yesterday to walk nicely with 3 corrections. He even passed the stop tests after that immediately. He’s a pit mix and super strong. It was miserable taking him out to potty and impossible to take him on a walk.
This dog is nowhere near as mental as my spaniel. Gonna try it anyway, thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge
Thanks so much for the Video. Just got a 1 yr old American Bulldog Pit mix that had no leash disipline. He pulled like a freight Train and my Girlfriend was stressed out about walking him. Literally 10 min with the prong collar and 3 u turns and he was walking like a gentleman..Great Tips. Thank you
Oh my gosh. I greatly appreciate your video. We have a 7 month old and he’s still pulling. I’m trying the Heel command, but it’s not working very well. I’ll try this now. I’m a small woman, and my baby is pretty powerful but I want him to know his job is this…pay attention to me. He’s going around trying to sniff everything, eat everything, overly excited and it’s driving me crazy. Thank you so much.
I’ll try on my wife. Honey…
Man, I just tried this with my hyperactive husky, and it really worked. It was a little more difficult than with your dog, but I might not have been doing right the first time. I'm really grateful with you
These techniques work like magic! My walk with my dog has completely changed! I feel like stopping and sharing this video with those I have seen on the street with their dog pulling the leash. It's such a shame that some people out there still don't know this!
Just taken on a 3 year old mastador and this is not gonna work on him at all
Great video, thanks. I've never heard of a "pop collar" before. I'll read up on it.
I was a little hesitant to try this on my gf's 5 year old American Bully but she pulls really bad and my gf gets frustrated within the first few minutes of walking her. After 10-15 minutes of practice, she got it and didn't leave my side. Constant check ins and paced herself when she felt herself pulling away a tiny bit. Regular collar and leash does the trick!
Yall do i have to use a normal collar? He walks in a harness
Honestly I was about to give up on training my husky on to stop pulling. Eventually I found this video and not even 5 minutes in he has stopped pulling almost all of the time. There is times where he still pulls but he is immediately corrected and goes back to not pulling thank you very much
We have a Burmese Mountain and Border Collie mix. I did try the pop but our dog could really care less about the food when we’re outside. He is on a mission!
He is slowly getting better sans treats anyway.
But some other great ideas I’ll try!
I was on a walk with my 8 month whippet that walked exatly like your dog on beggining of the video. I watch it till like 7 minute and decided to try it. First i had to teach my self how to pull it correctly it felt a little harsh. But like you said after like 5 good pulls and cookies when he was focusing on me it made a miracle. All of this hapoend in like 20 minutes. I could see that when he wanted to wander in front he remembered what happened last time and start looking at me. Then in next 20 minutes he maybe did it twice i just correctet him a little bit and like he would know okay i made a mistake again I dont want it that it happens again. 😅 Thank you sir for no bullshit video but straight to the point 🙌 isto naredi s tem besedilom

I was on a walk with my 8-month-old whippet, who was walking exactly like your dog at the beginning of the video. I watched until around the 7-minute mark and decided to give it a try. First, I had to teach myself how to pull correctly—it felt a bit harsh at first. But, like you said, after about 5 good pulls and rewarding him with cookies when he focused on me, it worked like a miracle.
All of this happened in about 20 minutes. I could see that when he wanted to wander ahead, he remembered what happened last time and started looking at me instead. Over the next 20 minutes, he maybe tried it twice more, but I just corrected him slightly, and it was like he realized, “Okay, I made a mistake again; I don’t want that to happen anymore.” 😅
Thank you, sir, for a no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point video! 🙌
I trained my dog "American Pitbull sraffy Red nose" to pull to build his back legs 🦵 I also use a harness I hate collars, but our female doesn't get the same freedom my wife is on her 😊
Found this video after walking my dog. 6 month old cane corso that's already 70 pounds giving me a workout.
Never had a problem teaching my dogs to walk slowly but my current cocker has a mind of her own. Maybe it's my age (71) or that I've been disabled he past 19 years or she just has a mind like none other. Will take all you've shown and said and put it into practice. Thanks so much!
Amazing..! 😮
I was able to do it without the harsh pull and yelp. Made several u turns and my dog got the idea. No bribes either, just positive engagement
I’ve tried every method, I just can’t get the dog to understand.
Where can I find the prong collar? Because the version petsmart has doesn’t feel like it’s working 🥺
This will work great for my puppy I got after my elder dog passed away. And it’s funny, I have a five year old Lab who was raised around Covid so teaching her to be calm around people and walk without pulling was a bit hard. Unfortunately she’s stronger than me but maybe on her long line I can teach her this and see how she does with it! Thank you!!!
my dogs dont listen to
I’m here because I was walking my dog in the woods and it was a little bit icy. Well my dog dragged me during the walk and I slipped and fell and injured my knee.
I walk my dog with a harness, so I don’t get to give very much oomph on the pops. I just tried to go on a walk with my Doberman, and even though I tried the U-turns, she still would keep pulling. I’m not really strong enough get to get her to yelp a bit, especially with the harness. Any tips ?
Isn’t your prong too low??
Problem with my dog is once she sees food is involved she would just stop walking and keep jumping on me to try and get more
Yeah it looks like just a pop. From my understanding the dog’s momentum causes the pop on the line looks we’re wrenching on the leash as we turn.
Can you teach them with a normal collar or does this collar help them learn?
Just tried this with my 2 1/2year old Anatolian Shepherd/ Newfoundlander.
5 tirnaroinds and 10 sudden stops BUT SHE GOT IT!!!
It was the most pleasant walk we have had in the 9 months since she came to me
What about if your dog wants to pull becouse he spots a dog ??
