I am not a tech person and I've already realised I said DVI when I meant Display Port! (no clue where I got that from lmao) Thank you for watching, let me know what are your thoughts so far on Steam Deck?
Upcoming Lenovo handheld is gonna have steam os version alongside of windows version with cheaper price migh be a good alternative for steam deck
This is a hard decision for me because both are expensive. I dont want to waste the money only to hate the console 😢 I'm not a pc gamer, I'm a console gamer, so nintendo feels right (since I can't get those games on playstation.) Steam has more games and cheaper ones, too, but I keep hearing that you have to mess with the settings for some games and doing key binds and stuff… I'm too dumb for that 😅
I’m glad I watched this but I kid the switch one bc it’s cheaper n the games are physical bc I would be mad if I get my account on steam deck blocked or hacked
I have both (had the switch since 2020 and steam deck since September of this year) and I usually find myself going for my steamdeck more now just because of the increase of variety in games and the elevated visuals. I agreed with many things on this video but there were also some that I did have differing opinions on.
The docks: I personally like the minimal look of the steam deck's dock as it takes less space and looks less bulky IMO. I do wish that it was something that came with the steam deck seeing as it is a $80 add-on to an already pricy handheld.
Customization: I personally believe that the steam deck is more customizable seeing as how you can also buy skins, cases, dust-cover charms, etc. With the steam deck you can also download add-ons such as decky which allow you to customize the steam deck internally (wallpapers, game icons, wake-up theme, sleep theme, sounds). Also there is a limited-time option for a white steam deck OLED!!!
I’m thinking of getting a steam deck next week. I have a switch lite currently. Steam decks are FINALLY officially releasing in my country on the 19th. Only thing that seems weird to me about the steam deck is its control placement being at the top of the device not at the side like the switch lite is
I’m planning on getting the steam deck for third party games and pc games and keeping my switch lite for Nintendo exclusives
The switch lite just doesn’t seem to handle third party and indie games as well anymore. Even a game like mineko’s night market. The switch version of games now always seem to have issues
Does it ever feel weird having the control sticks in different places?
Also this video got a sub from me!
Amazing video! with great comparisons of the pros and cons of each handheld console. I am currently saving up for a Nintendo switch Oled as I really enjoy the games Nintendo has to offer but do plan on getting a steam deck in the later future for games that I have interest in playing that I cannot play on my ps4. The availability for mods, change in graphics, and being able to connect it to a bigger screen is definitely a plus for the steam deck. I am a casual gamer so that is why I'm getting a switch first (also since its budget friendly).
I'm a massive PC gamer…can't stand PS5 or Xbox and yet…I prefer the switch to the deck. Love Nintendo exclusives,WAY better battery life, easier to travel with, easier to hand off to my son etc. The deck? I'm just likely to grab my 2 in 1 thin and light that has equal or better specs anyways.
Just a tip for the video, its very nice to have chapters in the video timeline so you can jump to sections that are relevant to a particular interest. Otherwise great informative video!
SWITCH all day!!! There's a reason why the switch is at 143 million and deck is at 3.1 million lol
the video is 1 year old, so im going to assume you already figured out you can use discord and that tons of people customize the steamdeck and probably made tutorials about it.
I like the video but it is obvious you're reading from a script
I love that you talked about the aesthetics it's important to me too and on the topic of aesthetics your channel is very aesthetic and unique which makes it memorable I love the lightening u have it's very cozy ✨ thank you and keep going 💕
Have you looked the price difference of Steam games versus switch games?
Why The Switch is better
1. Better battery life
2. Tabletop mode option
3. Removable joycons on dock mode instead of needing external controller
4. Physical games and digital games instead of just digital options
5. Less expensive
6. Nintendo Exclusives without the headache of trying to run an emulator with buggy software
7. Sleek (better looking), smaller, and lighter
8. No need to tinker with games to make them work right, they just work
9. Better motion control plus HD rumble
10. Doesn't overheat/ no noisy fan
11. Better customer support
12. Overall reliability (less crashing etc.)
Steam deck all the way. I can mod stardew. Only point I need 😆. I do also have the t.v. dock for steamdeck.
Don’t forget to consider games on Steam are almost always cheaper and sales happen more frequently!
Great video. I don’t know if it’s still a issue but the steam deck dock doesn’t appear to scratch the screen and it’s been reported that Nintendo has a dock that can reliably scratch it. I don’t own either docks I just retain my frustration with it
Love my Steam Deck! My sister uses my switch since I don't play it anymore
Get both🎉
Everyone should absolutely get a steam deck, please all please remember that you can play nintendo IP games on the steam deck as well. I beat totk and metroid dread on my deck. You don't even have to pay for nintendo games on the steam deck, they're free to play.
Edit: Also to add – this channel is fantastic! Glad I found it.
I have both and I am back to my Switch. It's just so compact for traveling and good on batteries. Playing Red Dead Redemption again on it. I am sure I will go back to steam deck again, but for now I am back to my first love.
playstation controllers will connect easier to the steam deck, xbox controllers will not connect at all unless u update them via pc or an xbox
i have both, the steam deck for my fav rpgs like fallout and darksouls(and alot of ps2 emulation) then the steam deck for my fav 2D games that i dont wanna waste my steamdeck battery on
I know this is an older review but I do have one nitpick to point concerning the resolution factor between the two systems. While hardware resolition (pixel density) is the same between the two systems, the functional resolution likely will not be. The Switch often renders games well below the 720p native resolution for a reasons such as performance stability and/or battery life. Thusly the same game across both systems can look significantly different even when you wouldn't expect this to be the case (example Triangle strategy on the switch next to the Steam deck version has muddy/blurry visuals).
It seems a point that is commonly missed in these comparative reviews between the two but likely would influence peoples' thoughts on which to buy or at least which system to play a game on if they own both already. I actually think this is a misunderstanding around the switch which explains why people want an updated Switch 2 to have a 1080p screen resolution despite the battery hit this would cause for portability purposes. 720p already looks great on on a 7 inch screen. It's just that many switch games don't render at 720p.
I have switch and I ❤ I’ve always been a Nintendo girl. So my switch has a special place for me but might get a steam deck as well.
One thing that sounds trivial Is I wish the switch had an achievement system. So when you beat hard games or you do challenging feats you have something to show.
Adding a skin is totally worth it! Here is how I did mine:

I wonder if I can play modded Sims on the steam deck
