I don't know if anyone has posted this before, but I'm afraid that even if the Xenomorph didn't make it aboard the Nostromo as a result of Ripley's quarantine decision, the Nostromo's mission would end in disaster! If Captain Dallas and Lambert were able to kill the Xenomorph in its early stages of development after the Xenomorph hatched from Kane's chest outside the ship, then they would return to the Nostromo after the quarantine was over and admit that Ripley was right. The Nostromo's flight to Earth would seemingly continue without a hitch until Ash killed all the remaining crew members by, for example, sabotaging the hibernation boxes. If Ash couldn't do it, another AI on board would do it – the 'Mother' control computer! Although Special Order 937 would not have been fulfilled, Weyland-Yutani would still have at least obtained additional interesting information about the alien organism on LV-426, and at the same time the entire mission would remain secret from the public, since the dead human crew cannot testify and Jonesy would not have told anyone by meowing!
In the event that the Xenomorph made it aboard the Nostromo, but was frozen in Kane's body at Parker's suggestion until returning to Earth, the fate of the Nostromo crew would be the same, only the Weyland-Yutani Company would obtain a perfectly frozen Xenomorph in Kane's body!
So basically Ash letting them in was worse for the company. Had they handled this by the rules, the Xenos would be theirs.
Then we wouldn't have a movie.
I have been catching up on your channel excellent… but I have a single question.
Did the signal from the Alien ship stop after the Nostromo arrived. Hence, Wouldn't it still be issuing the warning after the Nostromo left? Would the company have zeroed in on it without having to send colonists and wait for the unlikely discovery of Ripley? I thought it was made clear the company had received the signal before the Nostromo even went there, as per company plans.
They didn’t know ash was a synthetic until he attacked ripley btw.
Ash doesn’t open the door.
Alien comes out.
Grabs Dallas and Lambert.
Takes them back to the eggs.
Now there’s three aliens.
Nostromo crew instructed to wait.
17 hours later, company research and development scout team arrives. 26 members.
Ripley, Parker, Dean detained and used for research. Cat eliminated.
2 days later there are six aliens.
6 days later communication with scout team is lost.
11 days later a 791 employee mobile laboratory arrives.
etc., etc.
Freeze Kane.
Alien comes out in the sleep pod.
BORING!
They probably thought of that and rejected it.
Excuse me, Jonsey also survived, cats' lives matter!
If memory serves; the novelization mentions Ash reminding Ripley, after she deciphers the signal as a warning, and when she's about to go out after Dallas, Kane and Lambert. That, should anything happen; with four crew members off the ship, they would be below minimum take off capability.
So, with that in mind. If quarantine had been followed with Ash eventually trying force the issue and being revealed as a synthetic, and then rendered inoperable. And with the landing party stuck in airlock, and all succumbing to the birthing Alien, and what may follow. That would leave only the Chief Engineer, his second and one Bridge officer. The Nostromo wouldn't be going anywhere, and they'd be stranded on LV 246.
Now finding themselves in a similar situation to the derelict. They would now have to secure the Nostromo, activate the ships distress beacon, and then put themselves into hyper-sleep to await rescue. And then pray that any rescue party doesn't, on landing, visit the derelict first.
I like how on a first watch, Ash appears like an overly empathetic softie and Ripley seems ruthless (or at least highly pragmatic), when in reality Ash has no emotions at all and Ripley is so compassionate she went back for the cat.
Would have been a terrible movie.
Parker: We are not a rescue mission.
Ash and Dallas: You make a persuasive argument.
Roll credits.
Uhh there wouldnt be an Alien movie. 🤷♂️
I might have let Cain onboard but I would have insisted on some form of quarantine and isolation. Sealing the medbay, or insisting he be kept on the shuttle. This is a space ship, it has fun things like airlocks and docking tubes. The moment that chest popper ripped out, vent to space and problem gone.
The Company would probably have staged an unfortunate accident to get rid of the survivors. 1001 ways for people to die in space. No point trusting in NDA's and payoffs to keep people quiet when they can just remove any potential whistleblower witnesses to corporate malfeasance resulting in deaths which can lead to unwanted regulatory interference and affect the shareholders' bottom line. Not too far-fetched when you look at real world examples today.
What if Huddson grew wings and flew off the planet? we will never know.
Ash trying to say that emotions and feelings should be used to make decisions over established rules is absolutely baffling. That's literally what you don't want to do because there's a pretty good chance it's gonna be the wrong decision.
Kane would have "popped" in the airlock and little chap would have still gotten onboard with the added issue of a now acid damaged airlock
The Weyland corporation knew the alien existed before the Nostromo first encounter with the Alien
Simple answer: the movie would just end there
Well, then….the movie would have been quite a bit shorter…wouldn't it?
The Nostromo and surviving crew, Ripley included with Jonesy, would be able to go back home. But the events of Aliens and the sequential films that followed after would still happen. Hadley’s Hope would still be constructed, and Ripley’s life would still be affected by the events of the Alien series just like her daughter’s was in Alien Isolation. Unless….someone stopped Weyland-Yutani from ever knowing what was there on LV-426. Someone went against what that clause, that Ash stated, in their commercial vessel contract discussed about investigating unknown signals in space. Like say, maybe Ripley herself destroying the data that contained the coordinates to the Zeta Reticuli system or someone else doing the same like Parker or Brett. Nostalgia. 😱☠️👽
The quick answer to the title of this video we wouldn't have had a movie😂😂😂😂
now we must hate WY even more.
